If sturgeon shipyard or brinewater was the equivalent of a 100x battle, that’s about the amount of 100xes I get with 4 festival shells (but I am playing for 5 hours trying for one) 😭

I swear this game is soft locked to favor one map in some rotations to the point where a rarely think about it anymore

Was Chuggaa attempted to record or something? I swear the map coin flip gets stuck sometimes. . . this happens to my team when we practice in open a lot . . .which sucks when only one of the maps in our map pool.

To get the same map 15 times in a row would originally be 1/32,768. But given you went cross rotation you have to consider the probability of it appearing 2 rotations in a row (the exact same map and mode on any anarchy/X rotation)… this brings the total chances to 1 in 1,310,720 or 0.00008%. Given the proper maths, I do believe this is probably a world record

one time, i had almost AN ENTIRE map rotation on i think it was manta. Then when the maps change, i go into turf war… and i get manta. of course, i had a couoke maos in between not all in a row, but it was prolly 90% manta

So I calculated what the chances of this are when to factor in the chance of Barnacle Clams still being in rotation, and it came out to 491520. So this scenario had a (roughly) _1 in _*_half a million_* chance to happen. This is genuinely some of the best luck I've ever seen

When you have that one obnoxious friend who will always, without fail, ask to have the next group hangout be at the mall. Everyone else was burned out by the 5th consecutive ask, and by the third time in a row they actually let it happen. (No this has not happened to me, but it's the story my brain came up with on the fly. Idk man.)

Technically it's 50:50 every time, but yeah this is crazy. Normally matchmaking will only do this to me if i want to play a specific map, and then it'll proceed to only give me the other one.

During the Salty vs Sweet vs Sour Splatfest, I hopped on a rotation with Brinewater and Flounder because I wanted to play on Flounder at night. Every match I got for around an hour and a half was on Brinewater.

Actually it's a 50/50, either you get Barnacle 15 times in a row or you don't

the chance of the same map occuring is actually two times more than youre showing with the percentages = you show 25% at game 2 while it should be 50%. you shouldnt count the first game as the same could have happened with brine. what youre showing is the chance of getting barnacle x times in a row and not the same map x times in a row

Not to be a nerd but the chance of rolling the same map 15 times in a row is half that. There is a 1/2 chance you get the same map twice in a row, not 1/4.

I've been convinced that the map selection isn't random on a roll but on a timer, and if you're game goes full time your increasingly more likely to get the same map you were on because the timer is just naturally flipped into that map.

i just played an open rotation of clams with sturgeon and eeltail alley. got eeltail 13 times in a row. unfortunately no eeltail in the rotation to follow.

Ok but this is actually so much rarer than 1/32,000 cuz barnacle and dime clams being in rotarion AGAIN. out of the 8 stages possible in a given rotation out of 20. And 3 of the 4 ranked modes available at once and the odds that barnacle isnt in turf war is absurdly high

It actually depends on exactly what you mean by "THIS!" @meowolet is correct: Based on the opening question "how many times have you rolled the same map in a row?" there's actually a slightly different calculation we need to do: we need to calculate the odds of playing Barnacle and Dime 15 times in a row OR playing Sturgeon Shipyard 15 times in a row. Either result would qualify, so we actually need to multiply the calculated odds by 2, resulting in 2/32768 which is equivalent to 1/16384. It's still very a unlikely outcome, but you can look at it this way: if you wanted to load up the game and keep playing until you got the same stage 15 times in a row, you'd need (on average) 16,000 fewer attempts to do so than the number stated in this video! Now that's a timesaver. (Note: @MrArtless1 is also correct that this answer assumes each stage truly has an equal chance of appearing during each individual match, which we can't 100% verify without looking at and understanding Nintendo's source code. However, I'm willing to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt here: even if you feel that one map is usually favored, streaks of playing a certain map are actually much more likely than people realize, even if the odds of playing either map in a specific match truly are 50/50. These streaks just aren't as likely as Chara's streak in this video.) By the way, I'm much better at statistics than at Splatoon 3.

I recently got 1 in 248,832 odds. Which is 12 to the power of 5. I was playing MCCI, the Minecraft server and I opened a loot box 5 times in a row, there were twelve possible pulls from the loot box. I got the Burger Staff 5 times in a row. So I got extremely unlucky, because duplicates are worth almost nothing on MCCI.

But on a given day, don't you think at least 32k people play 15 games in a row so the chance that someone will get the same map 15x in a row is pretty good (even if only 16k people play 15 in a row on the same rotation, there would still be decent odds)... ofc the fact that it was in rotation 2 rotations in a row makes it a lot less likely but still

There is one mistake regarding the odds Here you calculated the odds of "having precisely Barnacle and Dimes" 15 times in row, and not "having the same map 15 times in a row" The distinction is important, bacuse in the case of calculating the odds for any map, the first one doesnt count, since it could be anything. It only matters from the second one onwards, where you want the same map as the previous game Therefore, the odds of just having the same map 15 times in a row is 1/2^14, or 1/16,384 (still impressive of course, not saying otherwise)

Not to disregard how crazy rare this is, but I find that I normally get the same map twice or three times in a row. I think the matchmaking tries to pair you with people who have also recently played the same map. But that's just a THEORY!!!

During the Shiver vs Frye vs Big Man splatfest I got Crab Leg Capital over 5 times in a row, probably around 6-8 times and my team lost almost everytime. Safe to say I kinda lost my appreciation for Crab Leg after that lol

The first game isn't a 1 in 2 chance, because you're guaranteed to have only seen one map at that point. By the second game it's a *2* in 4, since you could have rolled Barnacle twice _or_ Brinewater twice. In game 8 it might be a 1 in 256 chance of 8 Barnacles, but there's another 1 in 256 chance you got 8 Brinewaters instead; so the probability of rolling _the same_ map 8 times in a row are 2 in 256, so 1 in 128. ...is what I was going to comment, and it does hold true for that first rotation, but then the continuation into the next really blows it out of the water. Not only do you have the probability of continuing the streak, but there's also the chances of the other Anarchy playlist changing to the same mode, and with one of the same maps, _and_ it being the map you have the streak on. Actually insane odds right there.

Getting a map 3 or 4 times in a row is one thing, but 15 TIMES?! That is next level amaing RNG, especially since it was an actual decent map.
