its so funny because I am from ny, and just went to Jacksonville to visit, and The one thing I said was "There is no traffic here" only to find out that my understanding of nontraffic in NY was traffic in Jacksonville also loved the helicopters, and it brought tears to my eyes to see how much respect for the military this area had, it was beautiful
Haha yes, I always have to throw traffic in there because of some people from small towns that get shocked by this much traffic… but compared to NY? It’s NOTHING haha. We are a very patriotic community and love our military and families. It’s an amazing atmosphere. What brought you to Jville?
i really wanna stay there for at least a week to see and feel the vibe in that city before i decide to move there...i love the military but the hurricanes/typhoon.. omg..
Haha the hurricanes aren’t that bad! Very few and far between - I was actually shocked how fast weather moves around here and how quickly it stops raining lol. Hurricane Adalia blew right over us, no issues.
If your from NY, we know what traffic is. They think 20 cars on the road is traffic. It used to take me 2-2 1/2 hours to drive 22 miles. Down here it’s 20 minutes
Fortunately I’m from upstate Ny so traffic wasn’t bad in the country 😅 With that said, yeah I personally don’t get too annoyed by the traffic. It’s bad for some people from different parts of the country, but definitely not terrible
I moved down here in 2019 from Long Island and find Jacksonville to be rather boring. I would love to know what hiking trails you are referring to. Traffic? What traffic? lol, coming from LI, I would take this traffic any day.
Lol I use the word “hiking” very loosely. There are several trails that are more stroller and family friendly - big branch blue trail is good as well as jville commons challenge loop for an easier shorter trail. Jacksonvilles traffic is worse than where I came from in Rural Upstate NY, but certainly not nearly as bad as downstate or NJ or some other metros. It’s all perspective and having an avg commute of 15 minutes isn’t much at all
Thank you so much! Yes the music in this video Is a bit loud and overpowering. I think my video quality has gotten better over time, so maybe you’ll want to check out my more recent videos haha or feel free to call or text 🙂
My wife and I moved here two years ago to be near the beach, but far enough away to have a hurricane buffer. We're living right off Henderson, near Western Blvd. Great neighborhood. If you move to Jacksonville NC 1) Lots of loud air traffic from the base 2) Geese are allowed to hold up traffic on Western Blvd daily. Yes, I said geese. Im not kidding. And you're not allowed to rush them. 3) There's no good seafood houses in Jacksonville. None. And the restaurants that are here are hit or miss as far as quality. No consistency here. Except for Daryls Bakery.😊 4) Coastal Carolina Community College is AWESOME! 5) The best pizza is Abruzzos, right beside the Neighborhood Walmart on Western Blvd. 6) Unfortunately, there is a lot of meth and fentanyl in Jacksonville NC. You'll see people on the side of the road yelling and freaking out. Just keep yiur windows rolled up and keep driving. 7) The cops here are awesome. Quick response and easy to talk to 👍 Great EMS as well. Kudos First Responders in Jacksonville NC! 👍🇺🇸😎
We’re also from upstate NY looking to move to NC. We’re naturally drawn to Jacksonville due to the affordable housing and proximity to the beaches. Great video! Thanks for the info.
Overpopulated compared to development maybe, but with the majority of the population being military, I think it’s a good thing since Jacksonville is becoming a better place to live with more amenities.
@@livejacksonvillenc better? Lol. You must be joking. Things have shut down a lot. Taxes are higher, they add fees to your water bill rather than a property tax hike sometimes, or do both like last yr, cops take longer to respond, and have an attitude as many young ex military being hired and Yaneiro never gives a hoot to make them know the ordinances or laws as a whole. I can say with experience, having lived here for so long. It has become a cesspool of veterans with God attitudes.
@@insilence6156I completely agree. Plus NONE of the tax money goes into the city infrastructure. Roads take forever to fix. You can't apply for section 8 because the office is closed indefinitely. Contaminated water. The only jobs that aren't medical are customer service and no employer wants to pay above min wage because they have almost an infinite amount military spouses and members that just work for boredom or fun money so there's no reason to pay a local a living wage when there are people willing to work for dirt because they don't actually need it. This place gave up on its actual residents decades ago. It's currentl a tourist town designed for bored marines. That's it. Enjoy the shit water smell and abundance of roaches along with the constant struggle of drunk drivers. I'm getting my family out of here in May and it's going to be the best day of my life
Tons of boating here.Wilmington getting too crowded . Progress is starting to grow through Hampstead and Holly Ridge. Jacksonville is far enough away that it should take a few more years to get there. Most people will chose Jacksonville to go shopping instead of Wilmington just because of the traffic.Move from Long Island. Cost of living is so so much cheaper
I’m hoping I can rlly get to enjoy outside. Sure I prefer indoors, but I always thought I hated outside. Think that’s just cause I live in a state where it gets to be 118 in the summer and we don’t get much less than 80 most of the year… now I can maybe get a chance to enjoy Mother Earth and get healthier mentally and physically… my hair won’t like the humidity at first but … I’ll make it work😂
@@livejacksonvillenc I used to live in richlands North Carolina Jacksonville North Carolina Midway Park Hubert you name it I used to live down there for 40 years
@@livejacksonvillenc maybe if you do have pictures a lot of people would want to move down that way because I was talking to another couple and that's what they said that they would like to do if they was to see some pictures
I’ve learned the hard way that NC, the weather can change out of nowhere and is completely random. One minutes it’s sunny, the next minute it’s pouring rain, and the next a cat falls through your garage roof.
I love the content, but the MUSIC IS WAY TOO LOUD, distracting, and very hard to focus on what you’re saying. Please turn way down or even off. Thank you!
Wonderful!!! I’m a teacher and make video content for my students too! My older videos have the music way too loud also. Thanks for making the videos!!!
@@erictorres4889 totally understand. I know a ton of people locally that have a passion for metal music. I’m not sure if they’re goth, but definitely share a passion for music. Are you on the Nextdoor app?
@@erictorres4889 Yeah there is definitely a large group of folks that are religious. I’m not very religious either but still tend to find common ground with people. Let’s grab a drink or a coffee sometime. Thank you for tuning into my channel and giving some insight about Jacksonville 😃
what is the crime like? Every article says something different, from one that says it's one of the worst in the country for its size, to another that says crime is no problem at all.
There are definitely worse… I come from a city that has the highest homicide rate per capita. The crime here is more of the petty crimes like burglaries, drugs and DUI. Certainly not the highest in the country. Make sure not to confuse it with Jacksonville Florida.
@@livejacksonvillenc Thanks, I was definitely looking at NC. I expected crime to be low because of the military presence. I'm also considering Charlotte, Fayetteville and Asheville NC. So far, Asheville seems amazing, charlotte looks nice as well.
@@fefferryerr1818 Asheville has gotten much worse. Look to Holly Springs or Fuquay Varina for best family and jobs, houses, amenities and wonderful government.
Absolutely. I have a ton of friends in both the military and civilian that are active in the LGBTQ community. There isn’t drag or anything here (other than at the strip clubs) but very friendly.
I retired from USMC and Camp Lejeune was my last duty station, J-ville is trash PERIOD, slow, tired and definitely backwards. The civilians that work on base (some) are racist as hell!!!!
