WHAT ARE TRUCK COPERS?!

Braille Skateboarding

Aaron Kyro tried his best to make a PVC Truck cover that allowed him to grind on any surface... it didn't work very well. Shortly after we were made aware of Truck Copers which are basically a professionally made version of our PVC Hacks made to put on a pair of trucks and crate the most buttery grinds! Will this skateboard life hack actually make a difference or will it grind to a halt?!

The copers I had (co-pers, not cop-ers), were rounded, and didn't have edges that would catch the curb. We also used a tail protector, rails, cell block risers, lappers and spongy grip for grabs on the underside of the board. Skateboarding was wild in the 80's.

We had a Skate park back in the day in Milwaukee called the Turf, .They required copers. They are meant to prevent damage to the coping of concrete pools. I ended up buying the wrong ones, not knowing what fit my Tracker trucks. Modern shape of trucks is different than vintage truck designs, so that might be why they keep popping off.

I feel like it's in the name Copers...as in to provide "Coping" where there is none! They could also be used as grinding trainers for people who have yet to get that AHA moment from the feel of it after "landing" a grind successfully when/while learning 5-0s and 50-50s. Once it all clicks in their minds, then they can proceed without them and also start to progress into the other grinds that the Copers would actually prevent otherwise! Still a great video Braille Much respect and love! Let's Go Keep Shredding

When I skated in the early 90's, we had a skateboard park here named "The Turf", It had pools mainly, small outdoor section with ramps that came way later. But they wouldn't let you skate without copers back then, so they never had to repair the coping on the pools. Plus I'm sure they made a lot of money selling copers. You also needed full pads and a helmet to skate. Which they conveniently rented to you 4 hours at a time.

I can see a bunch of problems: 1. There's a sacrificial ledge. Nice idea but it's causing additional friction whereas the pipe was uniformly curved 2. The 'rear' coper is *always* going to rotate and dig in because the friction wants to move it back 3. The issue of the conflict between the stand post and the coper cut-out is not going to be resolved until the coper is braced in a way that prevents rotation and sliding

I think you said the name wrong. It's not coppers, it's copers with a long o. A play on the word coping, metal pipe installed along the top edge of a ramp. Maybe a few zip-ties could help keep them on? Or full send and go heavy with a glue made for connecting plastic to metal and sand the surfaces to rough them up for better adhesion.
