Finally, I wait for it for a long time. I am a Chinese student and learned Bulgarian in Sofia university as an exchange student. The experience there, not an exaggeration, totally changed my attitude toward the life. Before I came to Bulgaria, I have great worries about the future,thinking that study and work are the most important. But Bulgaria taught me that the inner peace also matters, no matter what you have, accpet yourself first. Even I live a busy life now, I always keep in mind the life is good, when I am tired, I can find some place to have a break. Много ми липсва животът в България, и хубав ден за всички.

@nngu Itae, Please open a tea house and sell Dim sum. I'm from England but i cannot find good Chinese food here in Bulgaria. When the Bulgarians smell the fresh tea and bamboo aroma mixing with your wonderful food, they will come for sure. I think the Bulgarian culture is a perfect match for this style of fast, healthy and social way of eating and drinking.

I am just so happy to watch this episode about Bulgaria, it makes me feel so nostalgic for this old and beautiful country. I studied here for Erasmus, and I can write a signature on every word what interviewed people told about why they love Bulgaria. I felt so well in this country, bulgarian people are so warm, so hospitable, you will never feel alone or bored, especially if you are curious and open minded for exploring bulgarian culture and everything, what is related with this country. Experience of studying and living in Bulgaria inprinted in my memory for my entire life, and even it shaped my direction and object of my academical researching object. I am so grateful for this country for what it gave to me in shaping of my personality and life. The lexical composition of modern Bulgarian is indeed much closer to Russian, than, for example, the lexical composition of other South Slavic languages (Bulgarian is one of the South Slavic languages). It is historically formed. My native language is Russian, but I know Bulgarian, Serbo-Croatian, Polish, quite well; I understand and speak a little Macedonian, Slovenian, Czech, Slovak. Since the country is so small, you can go to the sea for one weekend and to to mountains the next one. The language is quite difficult to learn for a german, but the people here are helping as much as they can. I can´t say much bad things about this country. Indeed, it's almost surprising. Especially considering our media frequently bombards us with international rankings, according to which we're usually the most pessimistic and miserable nation in the world. I very much hope this channel continues. I have found that Bulgaria has one of the richest cultures--a lively mix of East, West, modern, and ancient. I regularly explore RU-vid to find out about traditions (e.g., Kukeri), music (especially choral or instrumental folk music). The language seems much simpler to learn than Russian, plus I've seen Russians and Bulgarians can communicate well if they listen to each other carefully; so, maybe learn Bulgarian first and then you can have easy access to the other Slavic languages.
@timothyhoftediaz2850
@timothyhoftediaz2850 3 года назад
I’m not sure which one is easier, some parts of Bulgarian are harder and some easier! Bulgarian has a lot of tenses whereas Russian does not! But Bulgarian has almost no cases so Bulgarian is easier in that regard.
@NikeBG
@NikeBG 3 года назад
Bulgarian would indeed be somewhat easier for English-speakers, as modern Bulgarian is grammatically an analytic language (like English itself), whereas all other Slavic languages are synthetic (and so was Old Bulgarian). Thus, modern Bulgarian can act as somewhat of a gateway for English-speakers to the world of the Slavic languages. But I agree - Bulgarian isn't necessarily easier. We've lost most of our cases, but our verbs' tenses can be rather challenging (as well as the gendered nouns - one of my biggest nightmares when I studied German). By the way, in regards to our folk music, I find its various "modernization" projects quite interesting, even when it's mixed with styles I normally don't listen to. For example, the Kanatitsa album of "Ivan Shopov & Avigeya" made me really enjoy this type of ethereal electronic music, while the ethnic style of groups like Isihia, Kayno Yesno Slonce, Lot Lorien, Oratnitsa etc. has always been right up my alley.

The Eastern dialect is softer compared to the Western one, which is similar to Serbo-Croat-Bosnian for instance hence more understood by them as well or the Macedonians in particular. By Western dialect I mean all what begins with Pleven, Vidin, Vratsa down to Blagoevgrad. However, in Plovdiv they also have a different dialect but not similar to the one in Burgas. A good example in this video is the Varna dialect compared to the Sofia one, where we hear this softer Varna typical accent. e.g. they say "godzhina" i.e. godina = year where in the Western accent it is godina or another example is "studentchi" - students vs "studenti".

Lol Greek. I think the Eastern Bulgarian dialect has similar sounding like Polish because it has "tch" sound. "Studentchi" students. I am from Western Bulgaria and for me the eastern Bulgarian dialec sounds too soft and a little funny. For exaple we say "pet"for 5 and in Eastern Bulgaria they say " pyet". They dont have just hard "e" sound and pronounce "ye" . And when the e is not stressed they pronounce "i". For example city of Ruse is pronounced by them "Rusi". :)))).
