What Can $100 Get in Canada's Most EXPENSIVE City?

What can $100 get in Canada's most expensive city? Today I travelled around Toronto with $100 in order to see how much it could actually get me. I investigated popular tourist destinations like the CN Tower and Ripleys Aquarium before exploring other things Toronto had to offer like food, tourism and much more!

Let me tell you, Toronto’s subway isn’t as bad as the light rail in Minneapolis, MN and the subway in Chicago and NYC. Have never been mugged or assaulted on any of them but, to me at least, Toronto feels way safer to me than the ones listed above. They used to have a Tim Hortons in the Mall of America and throughout the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Really wish they hadn’t closed permanently.

Thank you for this very honest and well-rounded view of Toronto. As an American, whenever I hear or read about Canada, it is made to sound like complete perfection or heavenly, which I don't believe about any place on earth. I'm sure it's nice and not nice, all in the same town or city.

I like the video but I hate when people make that currency conversion fallacy. Just because 100 USD gets you more Canadian $ doesn't mean that anything over the $100 mark is an absolute gain for you. If the currency is weaker in Canada then companies will just charge more to make up for the difference especially for imported products. For example an imported T-Shirt from Bangladesh might cost $5.99 USD in the US but $6.99 CAD in Canada. The absolute price doesn't actually change for you as a consumer it's just that the currency is different.
@Arkiasis
@Arkiasis Год назад
And living in Canada as a result you have to pay more for things while earning less. Wages here suck and housing is literally unattainable now.
@bobbbxxx
@bobbbxxx Год назад
What you say is a complete fallacy. Retail stores in Canada face the same international supply pricing hurdles as anywhere else in the world, so the only way to compare how "expensive" a place is, is to convert it to one base currency. There are British tourists in Canada who think it is expensive, because they forget that a British Pound is not equal to a Canadian dollar; it is actually worth $1.68 CAD. Same with American tourists; it is important to let tourists know about international exchange rates so they know what they are actually spending.
@stefanbucur6472
@stefanbucur6472 Год назад
@@bobbbxxx You just said a bunch of random things but nothing of value. You don't seem to have any understanding about how currency markets work and how you can determine whether something is cheap or expensive in relation to the currency exchange and the local market. You don't even seem to understand what point I was making in the first place. Read my comment again before you make vague statements that don't mean anything

i live in a small city a little faraway from toronto (by around 45 minutes drive to toronto) and tbh its whole canada at this point. A chocolate bars at my local gas station is 4 dollars along with sales tax and regular tax. At a grocery store expect to spend at least over a $100 over groceries if you have a family or a relationship. I just found out my favourite youtuber lives right in Toronto (you).

No one is afraid of the Toronto subway unless they grew up sheltered in the suburbs. Come to the Twin Cities, where people openly smoke crack, deal drugs, loiter, sleep, fight, etc. A major station was closed for awhile because the lawlessness was so out of control. The subway in Toronto is a Rolls Royce compared to some US transit systems. Your fear mongering is obnoxious. You live in one of the safest large cities in the world...
