Karen you have such a lovely heart to bless people. Why not bless your own family with some new mattresses? They can be bought cheaply at ikea and other places very reasonably. Maybe it’s just me but I have a real issue about putting guests on old mattresses.

I am Autistic and we use the spoon method so we don’t become overwhelmed. Great job Karen. The Gas and carotene stored together was making me twitchy but again I’m Autistic I can lock on to something like that. I’m sure Robin has it all under control ! 🤓🇬🇧🌺

Hey Karen! I love this declutter today! Very satisfying. 😊 You can buy plastic mattress covers with zippers for the size you have, to protect while being stored and I found some in the past that were fairly inexpensive.

We have 3 air mattresses which we keep in a closet upstairs. Perhaps donate those mattresses to a shelter and go with the collapsible air mattresses…

If you are looking to downsize one day, I would personally let go off all of the mattresses, or keep only the best one. If Cresia could sleep on the pull out sofa in the teen girls room, two grandkids on the sofa in the living room, baby in the pac'n'play, two married couples on the two air beds, then that leaves one couple still needing a bed. Thanks so much for sharing. You are an inspiration to me. I often burn myself out. Learning to pace myself is a gift you are giving me! ❤

When you were stabbing at the bugs,were your giant mosquitos the things that some people call mosquito hawks or crane files. They are harmless, they have no parts that can bite, they eat nectar. Their larvae does eat mosquitos. They are a sign of a healthy environment, so unless you just can abide bug like things,they are good to keep around.

Would it be better to remove all the extra mattresses from the basement and get air mattresses for when guest come? That way they store smaller and you do not have to worry about dampness possible damage to the fabric ones?

Karen, a nice declutter. That’s a good pile of stuff going to goodwill to bless someone else. This was satisfying to watch because you successfully decluttered and then reorganised stuff back into its allocated boxes. If you keep focusing like you’ve been doing recently in the basement, it will be that minimalish space you long for in no time because you are doing really well. May I respectfully offer you a suggestion regards the mattress. Karen, if you can afford to, invest in two new air mattress and then get rid of the three older spring mattresses. I say this because: 1. They will take up far less room; and 2. They will be far more hygienic because after being stored in the basement for so long those old ones will probably have absorbed a lot of basement dust mites from the air, which could cause nasal or skin allergies when slept on. Think about how mattresses absorb thousands of skin cells every year, and dust particles/dust mites are smaller than that. However, if you need to keep them for now, then maybe vacuum them throughly and get some wipe clean plastic mattress protectors to keep them from absorbing all the dust.

Sometimes it can take three spoons to do a “task”. I wish it were one task equals one spoon, but is important to understand that everyday and it’s available energy is different.

I´m moving to a smaller classroom at school. I have so much stuff accumulated there so I´m working on cleaning it out (every day a little bit). Some things I´m just throwing out, some will get donated and some I need to store here at home since I´m planning on using them again. 🙄 I need to figure it all out. I don´t want my home to become cluttered and disorganized. Sadly my basement is not dry enough to store books and such. Only a few more days to go till summerbreak! I will get there eventually. 😅 Yeah to your big donation pile! Hugs!

I ran out this morning to the Laundromat. While the clothes were washing I ran to the store and shopped (23 min). Huge accomplishment for me as I hate laundry now that I have to go out to do it. I decluttered my spoons to four as I live alone, that's a good limit for tasks too. 😊 Spoon 1 - laundry, Spoon 2 - groceries, Spoon 3 - haul laundry from car and put away, Spoon 4 - dishes. Then I can iron my clean fabric and sew this afternoon 🍄🌻

I don't understand the whole spoon thing!
@GoingGreenMom
@GoingGreenMom 2 месяца назад
The original spoon story was written by a lupus patient that had been having trouble getting to meet up with a friend for lunch. So the friend questioned her about what was going on, and as she was searching for a way to explain why she had been canceling and stuff she reached over and grabbed as many spoons as she could from the server's tray of silverware. And she held them up like a bouquet between them. She then explained that everything takes spoons (equating the spoons to her energy store like Karen did, but for someone with an autoimmune condition or any chronic pain condition really, 1 spoon does NOT equal 1 task). So for her, getting out of bed was 1 spoon, getting a shower was 5 spoons, dressed 3 spoons, feeding the cats 1 spoon. the trip to the restaurant 5 spoons, and by this point she is down to just a few spoons left in her bouquet. And she explained that now that she had lupus she also had to think about having enough spoons left to get home, another 5 spoons, getting herself changed, 2 spoons, and in bed, 1 spoon. So if she was feeling drained before she even got out of the house she knew she wouldn't have enough spoons to get through the meal at the restaurant and get herself back home again and would crash. And if she had say a doctors appointment the next day or something, she had to be careful with her spoons because if she ran out of spoons for the day and crashed, she would get less spoons for the next couple of days and not have enough to do basic things like get herself lunch or get out of bed. It is about a 2 page story if you want to read it. Just Google Spoons and Lupus. It really does work for many conditions. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and personally a shower is 5 spoons. I generally need to rest for about 2-3 hours after a shower. I know other EDS patients who are similar, but someone else might gauge that at 3 spoons where a normal person might say it's one. Or for Karen her whole morning routine is one. For me, standing at a sink or stove in one place for a while to cook or do dishes is more spoons than something where I am moving because I stabilize joints with smaller muscles than a normal person do they tire more quickly.

@carolynoquinn4573 no worries! I am better off than a lot of people, but wanted to explain more in depth because spoon references are sort of a short hand accepted way for a lot of us to explain where we are and it really didn't translate how most of us use the spoon theory in the video. Especially when she went on to lift furniture and punching bags on her own. 😂
