I'm also impressed that you managed find so many items with under 1€. I remember time when you could buy a Jenkki gum package for only 1 markka (which these days would be around 17 cents) and nowadays I think it costs about 1€ or more. In the future you might get your candies for even cheaper because they are getting rid of candy tax. Thanks for the informative video.

It sure was a time when going to the local small kiosk you would buy candies for 10 pennies each. No doubt it was even cheaper down the line, but thats what I used to pay for my weekend sweets :)

Seriously, I cannot find any pack of strawberries that costs less than 3 euros even. I live in Imatra, Finland though :(

Buying strawberries in Finland in the middle of Winter is like buying ice cream in the middle of the Sahara desert. It's going to be expensive. Get them in July when they're nice and juicy and full of fructose and stick 'em in a freezer.

That Lauantai is a sausage made of finely ground butchery leftover meat bound together with potato starch, known also in Sweden as pointed out in another comment. It used to be an affordable working class Saturday (day after payday) meaty treat during times when beef was not an every day thing.

Go to Lidl. You can get food cheaper there. I think the imported strawberries taste nothing or very sour in autumn, winter and spring time. Buy Finnish strawberries in open markets in July and ask for sweet brands.

Almost every finnish people in Sweden is missing the poupolar "Launtai" sausage for a reason think is (on my own experience that the Swedish food i like the Finnish food and if Supermarkets in Sweden are listen to the requests from people.

If you go to S-market or anything that is part of the S-company (e.g. alepa, prisma), you'd find a lot more. The K stores (K-market, citymarket) are more expensive. My favorite cookies from S-market cost only 89 cents/package. Also, the smaller stores are almost always more expensive than the bigger ones. Just a hint :)
6 лет назад
Thanks for the tips. I’ll try to visit S-market one day! 😊

Yes, that K-brand is a market brand of the K-group. They have another brand called Pirkka. The S-group has at least Rainbow-brand. S-group stores also carry the EuroShopper brand.

I didn't know Finland had such cheap strawberries 😱
@McSlobo
@McSlobo 6 лет назад
Insane deal. Usually they're many times costlier (4-5e for that, which I suppose was 500g, would be normal). I didn't see a Finnish flag on the packaging so perhaps they're imported. In July when the Finnish strawberry harvest season is at highest you can get them everywhere either by litres or by 5kg boxes which will cost typically around 30 euros but if the harvest is super good or the seller wants soon home you might find them cheaper, even 15e/5kg. And of course near the fields there are roadside booths which probably are well priced too. But that much for 1e, nope. On the other hand, forest berries are free. Pick as much as you can carry (but do not damage the plants).

McSlobo I’ll bear those prices in mind for summer to buy strawberries! ☀️ 🍓

Hello, my name is Jannaten Nayem. I really like your video cause it's really informative. Can you please make a video of living in Finland just like the living in Singapore. And nowadays Finland taking tuition fee from the Non-EU citizen. So, whether there is any possibility to maintain living cost as well as annual tuition fee? And what difficult is to find a part-time job? Thank you. @Ihana
