Someone from this core has to be traded and there's no questions about it. We are too complacent to run this same core back. Now the question is who of this core can you trade? You can't trade Trea Turner yet because I think that would be impossible with the contract that we gave him. JT is in the last year of his contract so no one's going to give anything up for him that would be worth it. So your options would be Kyle Schwarber or Casty. The more I think about it the more I think we could trade Kyle Schwarber or Casty, but we would have to get something good in return for Kyle Schwarber because that would be 34 home runs for 1 player going out the window. I would call around and see what teams will offer for him and if some teams are willing to give us a really good prospect or a player that we can plug in I would make that move. As far as Casty his value will not be higher than it is at this moment except for earlier in his career because of the season he's coming off of. Some GM would offer something decent for him, but I don't know if it would be spectacular and worth trading him. The point is we have some tough decisions to make and if we can trade someone from this core we have to take that chance because we are just getting older and we have to find a way to get younger as well while maintaining our competitiveness. The other tray pieces that we have would just leave a pretty big void and that is Alec Bohm and Rojas/Marsh. Those last three players that I mentioned we could get a very good return for any of them, but we wouldn't have any one to plug in for their position especially Bohm unless for some miracle Aiden Miller is ready next season. We have players that teams would want it's just a matter of if we're willing to trade them and what will we get in return.

My List: OF/LF: Get a bat that plays every day and provides protection…aka Dingers. 3B: Bohm out. Upgrade. Can’t get worse than him on defense, so get a guy with pop. Bullpen: Keep most of it but get a closer. A real closer. Thompson: For the love of GOD: 1. Turner 2. Harper 3. Schwarber …. Harper walks so much because the next guy up was always “less scary.” The Mets pitched around him the whole series, except for one game, and that’s when they feared the lineup.

Moves I'd like to see: Move on from Long, number 1 move. Do away with this homerun or bust mentality. I'd like to see Soto in a Philly uniform, but his price tag has me not insanely confident of that happening. The last move is trading for either Helsley or Mason Miller (Helsley seems more realistic out of the two)

Seattle needs a 3B and a bat and has been willing to swap large contracts in the past and are deep in starting pitching. Bohm and Walker for Luis Castillo. Would see if they would throw in Andres Munoz if Phillies add Mick Abel to the package. Mariners can develop starting pitching and get the 3B they need, Phillies get some insurance for the rotation especially with question marks surrounding both Painter and Rangers health and add an outstanding bullpen piece. Phillies can reunite Aaron Nola with his old college roomate and proven post season performer Alex Bregman. They can be especially greedy and make a run at Japanese star pitcher, Roki Sasaki and maybe flip Castillo.

Locked on Phillies, Nice channel. I am pretty surprised the Mets handled the Phillies this way. Since the Phillies had such a great regular season. Many predicted the Phillies would go all the way and win the world series. Still a big market team. I am a Yankees fan by the way. But the Phillies as long as they have Bryce Harper you can build around him.

I would really hate to move Casty... Rojas could be someone to upgrade. With our luck , he'll start smoking home runs if we trade him. I like Marsh a lot... started the season great and just kinda stopped hitting. I think if he played everyday he'd be a better hitter, period. But do they want to take that chance... Austin Hays is a movable piece for sure. Sosa could be an everyday guy on any other team, just don't think a team would offer enough. And no, Dombrowski didn't do his job this trade deadline... he had a few more options but didn't seal the deal. When we faced Estevez when he was with the Angels, Rojas smoked a homer off him and in the same game someone else took him deep too. We should have seen the signs. Bet underwhelming trade deadline acquisitions.

I'm not really a "it's the coach's fault" guy, and I don't think that Topper is the main reason why the Phillies underachieved ... I think Kevin Long is going to take the fall for this... his job is to get the guys to be able to identify pitches and have plate discipline. I know he's not up there at the plate but he's teaching them to swing for the fences every time and NOT teaching them situational hitting, cutting down on their swing with 2 strikes etc

They have so many holes in their lineup. JT is cooked, he cant hit any more, but stuck with him. Marsh cant hit, what do you do with him? Stuck with Turner, he sucks. Need a # 3 pitcher. Nola is a 4, Ranger is a 5, always hurt, really need 6 starters! Need a good hitting coach and New Manager. Goober does not cut it!!

I definitely dropped the ball at the trade deadline. When he didn't get anyone pitching wise in the beginning of the year I said, okay he must think his pitching is stellar. But at the trade deadline, Anyone could see what this team needed. And he sat on his hands. They need a Pete Rose type player, a real Leader in the clubhouse

Awful, awful choke job to end the season - this was THE chance. Next year, the Braves will have their studs back from the IL and the Mets will have Soto (and perhaps more). The divisional crown was a GIFT this year and they pissed it away.

Nobody is addressing the real issues that this failed franchise has created. THEY HAVE NO FARM SYSTEM THAT PRODUCES GREAT PLAYERS CURRENTLY. The Sillies are like the Yankees. They go out and spend $330 million on Harper, $300 million on Turner, and millions on other over paid charlatan players approaching their mid thirties. What you get are players that get injured more, produce less, and do not have the stamina to play a long season, which by the way needs to be stortened. Go back to 140 games per season instead of 162. It's all about money, gambling, and TV network revenue. It has become corrupt.

As soon as the season ends, your already talking about changes. Why? The Phillies have soon outstanding players. They would have been in last place if not for Harper, Nola, story etc. My home team tge Braves fires the hitting coach because the Braves think the players should replicate their 2023 season when everything went right. The Dodgers get Ohtani and Cease, the Braves get Jorge Soler. The Yankees got Chissom and in Soler you have a .240 career hitter and as a extra bonus he can’t field either.
