We love your sweet family and your amazingly creative channel! We are so glad you are enjoying those teeny tiny quail! Everything about them is cute and fun! 😊
OHHH I'VE RAISED BUTTON QUAIL--they're so cute but they're so dumb XD Mine lived in a 40 gallon breeder tank and loved taking dust baths in chinchilla dust! You have to be careful because they're jumpy and can 'boink' where they shoot up into the air (mine would hit the ceiling of a room) and beat their wings as hard as they can as they drift back down. The females only live for a couple of years but the males can live about five! gosh the sound of their little peeps makes my heart hurt--I miss my tiny babies
Has anyone else been seeing the trend of button quail lately? Also I love when you guys make these videos you don't leave us with suspense for a month!
I’ve just seen a trend of quail in general. I wanted to get quail to butcher this year, and I had a really hard time finding eggs or chicks. However, I wish I would’ve just gotten chickens.
My neighbors is giving me quail eggs for the incubator in the next couple of weeks. I’m so excited! She says her quails have the sweetest and friendliest personalities so I’m pumped!
I’ve owned quails for a couple of years now and you can actually fix one of the quails with the curled foot, preferably on the day they hatched or when they’re at least a day old. Simply splay the curled feet out as if it wasn’t curled on top of a piece of tape, almost like artificial duck feet. Make sure to place tape on top of the feet too. You have to extra careful though, since these guys are so tiny. After 2-3 days, you can remove that tape and they’ll be back to normal! If I do get anything wrong, anyone please correct me in the comments since I’m not a professional and am only showing my own experience. Love your videos! Been here since Bamboo and the blonde girls were hatched.
Love it! Button quail are great I raised a handful and they where very rewarding! (: I still remember getting the eggs in the mail and thinking man are you sure these are’nt sparrow eggs? :D
Please do your research, they live on the ground all day so the cage you have isn't great, love the transitions from the eggs to a month great job, can we have an update on the garden pleaseXx
“One died” he’d say cheerfully Not hate I thought it was cute✨ Not that it’s cute that it died the way he said it- FYI I love you guys your channel is so wholesome it’s amazing❤️✨
I have had button quail for 4 years now. Here's a good tip, build a large aviary (they are tiny but need alot of space). In the aviary, the floor should be sand, in the corners of the aviary you should put hay and grass for the nests. Scatter small amounts of hay around the aviary. These quail rarely hatch other babies out. What's important is, if they do sit on the eggs, do NOT and I mean absolutely NOT go near the broody quail and do NOT touch the eggs. Broody quail won't continue to sit on the eggs if they do not feel safe doing it. But the absolute best part about these quail is the noise they make, it kinda sounds like a mew mew mew noise, it's very funny. Good luck. P.s. I'm pretty sure you only have female quails, because males are blue with a red underbelly (and they can have a white and black bib).
When they are just hatched, they look like those chenille chicks we always got in our Easter baskets as kids. Too cute! Really enjoyed the music in this video, too, Jake. I appreciate the time you put in to bring us quality content.
With the one with the bad foot/feet, it may be too late to repair it now that they are a month old, but I've had that happen with a few coturnix quail hatchlings. You can usually just take a couple of pieces of masking tape and make a " duck boot" for them that forces the tendons to stretch to normal positioning. Easiest to do with a helper to hold the bird. Just take a piece of tape just slightly bigger than the foot, spread the toes out in a normal toe position and put another piece of tape over the top and press it between the toes so they can't fold it back in. After just a few days of wearing the "boot" you can take it off and they walk perfectly fine.
Quail are the best, ive been breading them for years, my sugestion is to blend all their food, it gives them more options and ability to digests, also a sand box
Watching your vids takes me back to my childhood days, when my grandparents used to have many farm animals. Now we have only chickens and piggies. 😅 Watching you guys feels like living my childhood days again and I thank you for that. Keep it up! Best wishes from a small country in Eastern EU.
Becky: Are they for real? Me: responds to video “yep” My Brother: Who are you talking to? Me: Becky Him: Who’s becky I thought you don’t have any friends.. Me: oh bother... :D
I wished I lived in a countryside near a forest and in a farm. It would be a dream come true for me, your kids are sooo lucky, I'm 11 and I live in a city so crowded and full of pollution, so I'm very jealous
I tried hard boiled quail eggs at a Brazilian restaurant a few years ago. There were so small and the yolk had the consistency of the yolk mixture in deviled eggs. When your quail start laying eggs, you need to fry one and compare it to chicken and duck eggs.
White House on the Hill your videos feed my inkling to get an incubator! I've seen several of your hatching vids and you list pros and cons as you go along (which is awesome!) and yet I am wondering if you would do an incubator overview video where you share what you love and don't appreciate as much about each one you've used and what you think each is really well suited for...?
Hello, I am from Eastern Europe and I just love your videos. Especially the fact that you guys film one topic and show it from the beginning to the end (instead of talking/showing more topics in more videos). Keep going on lovely family!
Hi I have 3 quail and have learnt some things over 3 months 1 . Quails are insanely messy eaters 2 . Quail love to dust bath they love to dust bath in sand and woodchips 3 . Quail don't like to be held so you have to handraise them
I remember the first time I saw the California Quail babies! They looked like fluffy walnuts all over my mom's driveway! Only way we knew they were there was daddy quail up on the roof hollering to keep his mommy and brood nearby! Such a joy to witness really as they are very elusive and skittish. Thank you for another wholesome , beautiful and educational video!❤
Those doors are NOT going to work. They are ground birds, why does he keep putting them in tall cages, like the other ones he has. He needs to get that aviary finished so they can be on the ground and have cover to run and hide and nest in.
Omg i love quails! They are sooo cute! I once was allowed to hold an albino quail (it was super soft😍) Also quail eggs are supposed to be one of the tastiest eggs ever (i don't taste a difference tho
You guys are so lucky to live on su h a wonderful farm i would die to live there and have all those birds i love you guys hope fully one day i can have lots of birds like you guys And i am from Australia
I love your channel! You always have something new and exciting to show us!! Also, I now really want button quails, they're so cute. And I thought my duck eggs were pretty small!! Thanks for these videos, good luck!!
I'm glad that you guys can find paid partnerships like that, I hope you all make enough from this channel to support your farm and family! Thank you for the great content
I've only just found this site, I'm addicted, absolutely love it 😁👍👏. I'm from the UK and I've always envied the American life, in a way its so much bigger and more exciting than UK. At least I can watch you guy's on RU-vid lol 👏😁. Beautiful family xx
FINALLY. WE HAVE THE QUAIL. you have no idea how long i have waited for a quail video. thanks for making it ur the best :D (edit: i meant a quail hatching video ._. XD)
I've become a little obsessed about quail since my in-laws may allow me to raise some when we buy our new place. My fiance and I have been talking about it on and off for months, raising quail for eggs. We've talked about how we really want an indoor hutch (I Know it take alot of work to keep them indoors but where we will be moving there are coyotes and lots of wildlife I would be very scared to have the quail outside. Just watching them hatch and run along in videos gets me even more excited for my own experience. My fiance has his heart set on buying an incubator and hatching the quail ourselves. I also know for a beginner thats a little bit difficult to do but within the next year I will gain lots of information and hopefully it will be a success 😃 thank you for your videos! You have a beautiful family and seeing the excitment in your kids put a huge smile on my face. When I do get my quail I will have to introduce my nephew to them. He will be about 2 or 3 by the time I actually save up and get a place where we can raise the quail. I technically could raise them where I live now but my backyard is very small and already has my raised garden beds so it's even smaller now and my basement is way to cold to keep anything 🤣 so the best option is to wait no matter how badly I want to just dive in right now
Oh my goodness! I’ve been wanting these birds soooo bad. They’re adorable! Edit: in the video of the quails hatching the quails look like normal chicks and then when you hold them they look so tiny!
I love your cannel i have been sad lately beacuse my grandma died but i found your channel and you made me fell better! thank you and keep doing what your doing.
Hi White House on the Hill, I'm a new viewer here. Can I have a little Q&A section here? I'm really curious to know what did you guys do before buying a farm? Because all of these projects needs a really huge capital, and I love your lifestyle whatever you showed in all your videos. -- Love from Malaysia
I’ve hatched out lots of button quail, really make sure you can approach them from the side. After a week or 2 they can fly really good, and they’ll be gone in no time and I don’t think You want that to happen. After a week or 5 they are fully grown!
I bred Chinese quail for years and I give up last year on my aviary I bred 8 types of quail and 15 types of finches and a couple of canaries but know I got chickens and a vegetable patch
Make sure to keep the hatchlings mice and warm-about incubation temp-for the first several days, then gradually decrease a degree or two at a time over the best two weeks or so until they are fully fledged. We've been raising quail for almost a year and have done three hatches, we have a fourth in progress. They are super sweet and quick to grow. The biggest deal with them at the beginning is definitely to keep those tiny bodies warm. Good luck! They're adorable!
It's because they keep opening the incubators and shrink wrapping the babies. It's a clear incubator, leave it closed the babies are fine for up to three days after hatching.
Personally I don't care for 3 minutes of financial info when watching a homestead type video. Don't we get enough ads and commercials through youtube already? Glad he has a sponsor but I'm NOT INTERESTED in that kind of content.
@@jemimabowden4172 Are you psychic Jemmima? I never disliked it. I just don't care for even more ads in the good yt channels I like and learn from. You really don't even know what you're talking about. Obviously 47 people DO dislike it though so I guess my feelings aren't just mine. I still liked it and learned and enjoyed it.
