I 100% agree. Joining rebellion, finding his courage, beign hunted by Phasma, and his friendship with Poe could have been pillars for so many good stories. Instead he was just cheap sidekick

I almost didn't even remember Mace and Lando were black until I just heard it now. They were just awesome characters that everyone loves. That's how it is when a character is done right.
Ahhh because you my friend are a normal person lol. I always think it’s wild when people claim Star Wars fans are racist or sexist… No we just want good story lines and good acting. The acolyte could have been a great story, but they literally did the typical Disney thing to do and make a million terrible decisions. I’m all for creating new stories within the Star Wars universe, but make it make sense and build on a universe that’s already laid out.
it isn't lazy writing. It's the best their hires can come up with. They only hire leftist cosmopolitans. They have no interesting personalities, they lack critical thinking and overall, pretty dumb.
It's the "netflix" or "Disney" cookie cutter recipe they follow. All just a capitalist machine spouting out quantity and forgot to put in quality. Netflix ruined everything, Disney ofc jumping the bandwagon & milking the woke out of everything. I want diversity. But they focus on the characters lgbtq problems rather than making a likeable or relatable human being. It just feels like a political hate message
it’s not narcissism, it’s just dumb excuse to avoid facing criticism. The real issue is that too many people gives credits to the racial card while skin colors shouldn’t be a point, specially when your point is that every body is equal
@@amphibian6074yes. Because it would be ironic to admit to being racists and yet it has nothing to do with the show being very bad. Get it? I guess we found who the audience is that needs everything spelled out for them with basic dialogue.

It’s just stupid that ppl have to comply with their dumb bs in order to keep their job. They should know ppl will have their own opinions on things, Gina had done nothing wrong. Ion get Disney
Disney and Kathleen Kennedy using the "our shows have bad ratings because all the fans are racist" is one of the most unintelligent and sorry excuses I've heard in my entire life.
Star wars and Marvel have both had the same problem: lazy writing. Andor proves that they can do it right if they want to. They just haven't wanted to.
I agree with Andor being good. Unfortunately the Disney go to would be "You only like it because it's a white male lead!". When that actually has nothing to do with what made it good.
Andor is rubbish!! I have NOT gotten pasy minute 10 on Ep 1. I've watched the Mandalorian about 7 times. And Book of Boba Fett 3 times. I forced myself ro re-watch Obi and Asokah. But slow, clunky Andor, nope!!

Yeah, I don't think anything is necessarily racist going on, except a tiny fraction of actual racists that jump on certain talking points. It's largely down to bad writing and no vision, I really don't get why either side is pulling the race card when that's not what we should be talking about. A diverse cast is fine, SW usually has one
@@chasingDan yes and live on television too. its hilarious how this is somehow not an incredibly mega racist thing to say. if she said the same about black people her career would be over in an instant

Star Wars fans love Princess Leia, Jyn Erso, Mace Windu…not because of their gender or ethnicity, but because of who they are. When the characters are poorly written and acted and their gender or ethnicity is all their character is about is when we call BS.

A Jedi master gets killed by a hand-thrown knife out of distraction. A spaceship catches fire in space and they try to put it out whilst wearing sealed helmets due to the lack of oxygen in space...that was it for me.
My thirteen year old daughter picked up on that! She looked over at me and said,.."doesn't fire need oxygen?" Not surprised at all because she is a straight A student I bemusedly replied,..."yes. you're right! " I should have known then...
Clearly, this show is not based in reality. Completely changing the continuity and lore and expect people to like it is delusional and stupid…Lucasfilm is run by selfish hacks who are stupid.
Disney isn't writing for the fanbase it HAS. It is writing for the fanbase it WANTS. The importance of good storytelling seems to be not of concern. It more a question of being able to use the medium as a megaphone to present ones views or the importance of self. A commercially released movie or television series is an ask of the audience. You want their money and their time. What are you going to give them in exchange? Film making is an art that joins many different forms of art together. If it is art that only serves the artist then expect it to fail as an investment.
I firmly believe they could have added some DEI while still showing respect to both the old movies and their fan base. It’s a matter of balance. While Disney can’t please every critic their leaders also need to have some self-distance.
I'm a fan of the old films, having grown up in the 80s, but I love the new shows too. They are what they are, and in my opinion, not Oscar winners but easily good enough. They take what I liked about Star Wars and the old films, and expanded on it. I liked the philosophy in the old films, teaching children of my era the difference between the path to good & evil. Fear, anger, hate leading to the dark side etc, patience, acceptance, tolerance, being pillars of a jedi. Ironic, haters of the show instead of just switching off and watching something else they like instead, voice how angry and intolerant they are lol. In my opinion, the films & shows were intended for kids but can also be enjoyed by adults, and not the other way around. So they don't need to be absolute blinders of a script, they just need to be good enough to get the message over to children and entertain us a bit. But to say they are trash seems weird, because they obviously far from trash. I found them easy to enjoy them for what they are, and I'm looking forward to seeing more and where the story goes. Can't wait for a second season of Ahsoka too, and Obi-wan. Andor too. Whilst I'm here, some of Clone Wars was amazing, and Rebels & Bad Batch too. Really helped develop Star Wars. I like that not all the shows are the same, and if they do a show I don't like I can't imagine getting this upset with it. Star Wars has always been multicultural, political, and anti-fascist moral and philosophical stories. Like Star Trek and others at the time, they seemed pretty progressive in the 80s, and I hope this continues. Star Wars was and still seems to be, a force for good 👍
@@mattlingley3409what message to the children is that? Force feeding them more lgbtqia2+propoganda that they're too young to conceptualize, but just young enough to be easily coerced into believing?

True. No one has problems with characters like Leia, Ahsoka, Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley,... they are all strong female characters, but they are well written and feel real, other than characters like Rey, who is perfect at everything, which destroys the character.
Lol Star Wars fans have gotten old and failed to realize their favorite children's fantasy isn't being made for their adult Expectations....they'll still watch it, just to complain. They'll still buy the merch...Disney has them right where they want them.....
It's insane how they think they can shove this preschooler-written dogshit to the audience and when they don't like their garbage storytelling, just use "racist toxic fans" as an excuse. Who's the toxic one here? Because no fan has had any issues with having strong female characters or black characters. Princess Leia is as strong independent female character as they come and Mace Windu and Finn were absolutely loved by these same "racist, sexist fans". Curious, isn't it?
nobody hated rey for being a woman, they disliked the horrible writing and the fact that she knows everything perfectly from square one, has an ego and just doesnt have to work for anything like luke did. also this show's writing is so bad it seems like the writers dont watch their own show. for example in episode 1 the red lightsaber mf tells our strong female antagonist number 1 (im using these names because theyre forgettable as fuck) that "steel and lasers are no match for them" (talking about the jedi) yet she just killed one with a steel dagger not 15 minutes ago? but steel is no match for them? are we watching the same fucking show, leslie?

Some fans are racist, just facts. However, its not a great show. There's plenty of celebrities who have weird ideologies like Tom Cruise with Scientology, but his movies still make money. Because they are usually good.
Some people hate woke culture and rail against it and see it everywhere. Some of us just hate bad writing, The Acolyte is a poorly written and executed Star Wars show.
The main actress and that butch said making white people cry was their objective. Not even implied, but stated directly. This is why woke culture is annoying AF in film because they believe the virtue signaling through diversity for the sake of diversity and being anti white is what will sell when in reality their selling point is a constant state of woke lecturing onscreen. Bad writing and the forced messages are what’s killing marvel and Disney in particular. I recently rewatched The Matrix and that was diverse as hell with strong female leads and black leads and it was still fantastic and why? Because they weren’t hell bent on forming the plot around oppression, female inner anger, etc.
I remember when everyone wanted Finn to be the "i need to try hard" Jedi to add a counter weight to a natural.... It's a theme they should have stayed with.
@@TheStorytellersGuild1agreed! They definitely screwed him over with how they did his character. They were even laying down the foundation for him potentially becoming one. Then lazy writing hit and said F it, we changed our mind and didn’t fix plot holes they created by doing it.

The hate has nothing to do with the diversity of skin color. It has to do with the fact that they turned STAR WARS into a black hole of bs ass lore and filmmaking.
Well no, assuming what you just said is what makes it racist. Here’s a regular review from myself that’s both fair and not a lash out It’s Bland and Stale. Action is appealing but there’s nothing to comeback to. Unlike Mandalorian which had better story and context and character.
The producers and cast run their mouths on subjects that are only popular within their tiny circle. So out of touch and disrespectful to the audience that made the IP so popular. When you take a cash cow and give it Whiskey to drink, the cash cow will die. Claiming the whiskey is healthy because it is made with grain and cows eat grains, shows a complete lack of understanding of a good quality diet
Myself and I assume many others couldn’t give two squirts of piss about how divers a show is, we care however about how well written a show is and Disney is not writing for the fan base it has.
I soooo thought we were gonna see Finn be the Jedi! I had theorized it was Force sensitivity that enabled him to wake up from the First Order’s brainwashing. Instead we got fakeout in TFA and nothing but “REEEEY!” for the remaining 2 sequel films. Hell, they could have BOTH been Force sensitive. Why not? Such a missed opportunity. The thing I think more and people are realizing is that these major media corporations don’t care about making good product. It almost seems deliberate, how bad “The Acolyte” is. I think it’s becoming more and more obvious these productions are designed only to do one thing: divide people and keep the populace mired in the muck.
Crap writing. If you make the story compelling, the characters interesting, and the action with consequences audiences will HAPPILY go along with any DEI stuff, as long as it's secondary, If it's good Star Wars fans will eat it up. If it's bad they will 'wait and see'. If it tries to change and hurt its legacy they will revolt. And they have.
@@TheStorytellersGuild1 Don't get me wrong the MCU had its bangers, but StarWars is getting the Phase 4 and 5 treatment. Though Andor blows any other show in this conversation out of the park.

Star Wars suffers from two things now, bad writing and Kathleen Kennedy. Until she is removed from the mix, Star Wars will forever suffer and the writing will most likely never improve unfortunately. The show is ass, it’s really just that simple. Writers, actors, and producers of these trash shows just use “racism”, “sexism”, and all the other buzzwords nowadays as a shield against taking accountability.
I've dropped the entire Star Wars franchise after the first Disney remake. There are 6 Star Wars movies, and everything else doesn't exist. Sometimes it's best to just ignore franchise reboots. I also decided that the Hobbit movies don't exist, and that The Rings of Power is a fully independent series, that has absolutely no connection to any pre-existing franchise. Makes life a lot easier.
Context is everything. And given that the director said that this show is going to be the gayest star wars ever, claimed that r2d2 was a lesbian, the lead actress had racist videos surface, the track record of Disney for the last 5-10 years, and a 20% audience score. The context is that its a steaming pile of garbage
R2 was a what?? Wait, I thought Droids don't have any genre, ya know, cause they're robots, Even more interesting than the new calculator of the Main character but well, I think It was expected from someone who is obsessed with tagging anyone and spit on the face of the people who are'nt agree with her
You do realize that the actress for the lead role had a lead role in The Hate U Give, a movie about police brutality, 6 years ago, right? In that context, it isn’t racist.
My only complaint with the show is the same problem I have with the rest of the franchise. For seemingly no reason, humans are the most prominent race in the entire galaxy. It took several thousand years for us to get to a population of nearly eight billion people. Somehow, we managed to breed our way across the galaxy. Even to a forest in the middle of nowhere 😂 I’m probably thinking way too far into it.
Yeah…I mean that tricky. Aliens are hard to do. I also think, subconsciously, we relate easier when there are at least some human characters, I think mostly it’s a budget thing though
That's because it's a show made by humans. It's just what humans automatically enjoy: seeing other humans. It's why in Destiny all the playable characters are related to, if not humans, or why they are humans in star wars, or why most of the fantasy people that are playable/featured are elves or dwarves that are like humans, and so on. Not to mention humans are the easiest to work with, because we have so many of them here already.
I just red the "Disney is not ruining star wars - you are" that article is basically trash written by a 18 year old lgbtq activist, just spitting shit on the star wars community and accusing it to "force others to stand against The Acolyte, hate it or you're a bigot", i mean, isn't this what in the last few years media has been doing about the lgbtq/immigration/trans question pointing racist/bigot/transphobic to everyone who for some reason had something to say about the lgbtq movement?
Honestly I thought Poe and Finn were going to be the main characters of the new trilogy till I saw the end of force awakens and the rest of the sequels where we barely saw Poe at all and Finn basically did nothing it was all about REY
It's the NEW go to when an actor fails miserably, it helps their mental illness cope with failure. Blame it on everyone else besides the real problem...
Finn, the embodiement of the fact that ep7 had so many cool ideas, characters, motives, all sent to the bin in ep8, and badly put together in ep9, I don't like how jj made ep 7 and 9, but I do wonder what would have happened if they did not follow the web and had him realize his idea of ep 7->8->9
Some of the backlash is unwarranted and spewed by trogs who unless everything follows some 10th century ideal is hated upon. So long as the actor in the role can carry it then more power to them. The lead is far too wooden and should have went to another actress. The story needed some heavy reworking as it ignored established canon. If written well and acted well the series would have had rave reviews. The idea of another coven only makes sense - the Nightsisters weren't unique during this time. In the end, so much wasted potential by a head writer trying to force some modern narrative rather than just telling a good story. She even missed the mark in adapting her stated inspiration.
If you people would actually watch the show and not go into it hating you might actually enjoy it. Letting others make your opinion is just sad. Watch the show for yourself. (I am a white male)
The Finn thing is true. After seeing him in the force awakens with his fight with Kylo Ren, I felt like they were hinting that he’s force sensitive and eventually be trained to be a Jedi but than the Last Jedi came along… they don’t have an excuse for their bad show so they pull out the race and homophobia card to excuse the fact that their show is poorly written with little to no likable characters. Sol is so far the only likable character since they killed indara off
So tired of hearing the typical go to counter argument for any kind of criticism. Just call your audience either call sexist or racist or maybe both to attempt to discredit their criticism, easier to just act like the house isn’t on fire. It’s so lazy and pathetic all because they want to do what they want and don’t want to listen to the fans.
I was super excited, and then the interviews came, and I thought “I sure hope that they focus on a good story and not politics” and then they didn’t and I decided against watching it
I don't remember Stars having martial arts in it lol. Jedi use the force and their light sabre. It's and entertaining show, but it doesn't scream Star Wars!
