Interesting. I just replaced my roof on March 20, 2024. I used Atlas Pinnacle Pristene shingles. A one story, high pitched roof, total squares used was 33. Total cost $13,100. Up & Over Roofing of Myrtle Beach, SC was the contractor. Yes this is my 'forever' home. But at age 71 a roof of this quality would indeed out live me. But budget/cost wise would not be allow me to make this choice.
And I think spending $50k for a car is insane. But people do it all the time. The people who are making this investment for their roof aren't buying just a roof. They're buying the look and durability that comes with this product. Why do people put real barrel tile on their roofs? It's certainly not for practical or pragmatic reasons. This is a much better product than that.
I have a Spanish villa style home and am considering Brava Spanish barrel roofing. My two concerns are because I live in Western New York State there are VERY few contractors who have installed this product and because we get snow and ice I wonder whether melting water will get through the seam between side by side tiles. As you know if you have ice dam water can back up. Wondering if you have installed barrel style in Colorado and how it performed. My home is well insulated and I noticed that there will be a considerable air gap under the tiles which should help reduce ice buildup. Any thoughts? Thank you for this video.
There are a lot of Brava roofs installed here in Colorado. Many of them are the barrel tile product. I recommend contacting Brava directly and asking them for one of their certified contractors in your area. They'll connect you with someone good. Hello, in SW Florida and have a clay tile roof. Looking at Brava Spanish barrel tile (or similar composite) tile for replacement. Can't find price comparison of clay tile vs Brava tile. Can' get straight answer from Brava sales rep... Has anyone received a quote from Brava and from a clay tile contractor and willing to share the prices (for the same sq footage) ? Also, anyone able to tell whether Brava meets Florida roof hurricane requirements ?
The material alone is $1,000 a square for the most part. I am looking at potentially using their cedar shake product and have actually spoken with the contractor who posted this video. They were nice and helpful. I am going to install myself though which makes it affordable for me. I'm just a normal guy. Tile roof material cost is about half as much from stuff I have quoted. About $500 a square material cost. Tile is also significantly heavier than this product though and will need to be taken into account. If I remember right they have the Florida hurricane certification. It says on the website. Best of luck.
