_"The inmates are running the asylum"_ _'The inmates/lunatics are running the asylum'_ quote was originally made by a 1919 movie studio executive complaining about actors (who were then viewed as little more than children) gaining power over the studios and making filming decisions themselves! Thing is, history demonstrated that an actors decision was generally _superior_ to a typical corporate studio exec's decision, so a reference to inmates/lunatics running the asylum is _not_ a good analogy!

Einstein wrote an article on Religion and Science pointing out the 3 stages of religion: 1) Religion of Fear; 2) Religion of social and moral values; 3) Cosmic Religion. He has also been quoted as saying: "Religion without science is blind and science without religion is lame." My religion was founded on Einstein's Cosmic religion, and in my opinion It is literally the 2nd Coming. It's called waking up to the fact that EVERYTHING in the physical universe sprung from the Non-Physical Intelligent One Mind. Another quote from Einstein: "Great Minds have always been violently opposed by mediocre minds." I believe that people who ONLY believe in what can be "proven" are mediocre at best.

The definition of god is indeed a big problem for believers. Because god is only in the mind of the believer there are countless religions, denominations and sects. If there was only one god this would not be so. And believers just make excuses why their version or concept of god is correct. And all without a shred of tangible evidence. And I do mean 'not a shred'! Because in 30 years I have not seen or heard any tangible evidence for a god or gods. And nor has any believer either. Otherwise they would have presented it by now.

The propensity for belief in spirits/gods comes from the structure of the human brain/mind. The god we see/feel is us. Our survival niche is cooperation with others for which our brain/mind is structured making us anthropomorphize the world. The word "God" to most Christians should mean "YHWH" or "Yahweh" a barbaric Hebrew male being with supernatural powers who created all things. Unfortunately the word "God" refers to his son Yeshua/Jesus who became a sacrifice to his heavenly father to forgive the sins of mankind. If you examine the story as an outsider/skeptic/atheist it means no sense whatsoever to a thinking person.

Most people don't understand that all religions are man-made and all men are religious in some way shape of form. Carl Sagan was also religious. He was part of the religious cult of atheism. *The cult of self* where they worship the creature (themselves) instead of the Creator. Carl Sagan was very intelligent. But his cognitive biases did not allow him to see his own lack of evidence in the religious cult he was involved in. There's not a single evidence of life's origin and the origin of man without God. Something he very zealously believed in. And by the way, he was very wrong about the origin of science and history in the bible. The bible gives a chronological and genealogical order of the creation and origin of man so accurately and backed up by mathematical calculations that is not compared to any other text book in the history of humanity. The accurate genealogy of man's origin alone makes the Bible the only divinely inspired book in the universe.

THE WORD of GOD explains GOD 2Peter 1:19-21 Men Spake as they were Moved by THE HOLY GHOST 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2Timothy 3:16, 17 All SCRIPTURE INSPIRED BY GOD 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Psalm 138:2) David declares GOD MAGNIFIES HIS WORD 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Isaiah 40:8 GOD'S WORD STANDS FOR EVER! 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Proverbs 30:5, 6 EVERY WORD of GOD is PURE 5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Jeremiah 15:16 The Prophet Jeremiah Trusted in God's Word Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. The Word of God is TRUTH - The Lord Jesus says So when He prayed to The Father in John 17 --- John 17:3-21 The Son Prays to The Father - Truth 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. 8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. 9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. 10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. 11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. The Curse on Those That Will Add to or Take From God's Word Revelation 22:18-20 The Curse 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. This is speaking about this Book (Revelation), but it will most likely apply to any part of The Holy Scriptures if someone tries to tangle with God's Word.

He wasnt that brilliant, really. He said that religious people should not interfere with science because they have no expertise in it. Then he does the same thing with religion by stating, "Faith is belief in the absence of evidence." This is abjectly and patently false. He has no idea about faith and no experience with it, so he should shut up about it. Further, belief is not acknowledgement compelled by evidence, it is the choice to place ones trust in someone or something. If there is compelling evidence then there is no reason to trust. Religion does not deal with history, literature, or poetry. It only deals with morality. Again he is pronouncing on matters he does not understand. The science in the Bible was acquired from the Jewish religion, which preceded the Babylonians of 600 BC. The great Greek philosophers learned their philosophy from the Jewish philosophers. The Babylonians were in turn inspired by the learning of the Zoroastrian faith. However, he is very correct when he talks about all of the divergent descriptions of God. And that has come about because ignorant followers of religious teachings chose to turn away from the personal relationship with God that religion is intended to establish, and focus instead on dogma, doctrine, and ideology which serves no useful purpose, is ultimately unverifiable, divides people, and destroys that personal relationship. I understand everything Mr. Sagan said, and I sympathize with his reluctance to engage in discussions on it, but I dont respect his doing the same thing toward religion that he said it should not do toward science.

@@vmolin2162 How many people throughout history have had divergent experiences with love? And yet, is not love a universally acknowledged phenomenon, without which life would be quite meaningless? If you ask anyone what love means to them, you will get an infinitude of responses, but pretty much variations on a theme. When I review religion through history, I can see a way in which it was intended to be a similar unifying force. Allow, for a moment, that there is an Infinite Being, Who created the universe and especially humanity. Intelligence implies purpose, so an all-knowing God would have definitely had a purpose. I believe His purpose is to have a relationship with each and every one of us. That purpose is actualized by us developing the spiritual characteristics with which he endowed us ("in His image", as the saying goes). The best way to achieve that purpose is by building similar relationships with every other human. In so doing, we come to recognize that each of us has the same inherent value. The more we develop it, the more we "approach" the perfection of God. Religion, then, consists of a vertical relationship with God and a lateral relationship between human beings. Morality, or spirituality, is the process of recognizing the intrinsic value of things and making choices that allow us to sacrifice lower values for higher ones (for example, the reward of generosity rather than the stinginess of hoarding). If this is what religion is, then we will all experience God in a very similar way, just like love. And since it is all about choices and actions, there is no need for the development of doctrine, dogma, and esoteric concepts that divide us. You may be surprised to know that the Sermon on the Mount contains only information about doing and behaving, and not a mention of doctrine or dogma. Three hundred years later, the Nicaean Creed is entirely about doctrine and dogma, and not a mention of doing or behaving. Religion has never disagreed or fought over actions like love, forgiveness, generosity, tolerance, etc., but it has always been divided by imaginary concepts like the trinity, the virgin birth, the resurrection, and creationism. And in my model of religion, there is absolutely no need for clergy of any kind. Guess who it was that created all of those doctrines and dogma that destroyed religion and created gods of many descriptions?

JC was just a man. No different to any other man. You can't fill your mind with what you want to be true. Study physics instead of the bible would be my advice.

Have you read Spinoza? Do you understand Spinoza's God?. Spinoza understood God exists, I understand God exists and you can understand. To understand God exists you have to understand the atheist logical fallacy. Atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is the religious idea of the creator of the creation to conclude wrongly no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesn’t exist. Atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is "sky daddy" to conclude wrongly no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesn’t exist. Atheists misreason "sky daddy doesn't exist therefore god doesn’t exist, and all the arguments that point to the existence of god have to be wrong". To understand God exists you have to understand the kalam cosmological argument: what has a beginning of existence has a cause because from nothing can not be created something. Logically it is impossible the existence of an infinite number of causes, therefore an eternal first uncaused cause that created what has a beginning of existence exists. Did you understand why God exists? God exists because logically it is impossible the existence of the creation or finitude without the creator or infinitude!. If you pay attention you will realize atheists and religious people defend an idea without any arguments. The horrible reality that atheists and religious people sell doesn't exist!. To end the war the discovery that atheism is a logical fallacy has to be news. I am trying to overcome an unjust censorship. Thank you.

Don't use AI to write your comments. It fails, utterly. I am an atheist because I have seen zero evidence of any god.

The kalam cosmological argument depends on the knowledge that there was in fact a beginning. Then it asserts that a god did it. We have no examples of anything 'beginning'; for all we know infinite regression is possible. If *everything* must have a beginning, then so must a god. If a god doesn't require a beginning (special pleading), then neither does a universe. Now let's say we allow the (currently) undefendable position that the universe had a beginning. Why does that mean that of the thousands of gods worshipped throughout history, the one you believe in created it? What did it create it from? Nothing? (creation ex nihilo). Contrary to the popular theist strawman, most atheists do not hold that the universe "came from nothing". If you hold that this is, in fact, the common atheist position I would ask that you provide *primary* sources/citations for this information. Having said that last bit, allow me to point out that an atheist has one position: A lack of belief in any god(s). Nothing more, nothing less. Atheism is *not* a stance on cosmology, evolution, biogenesis, or any other scientific discipline you care to name. To change an atheist's mind, you need only provide evidence for a god (or in some cases, any *verifiable, repeatable, falsifiable* evidence of the supernatural). Edit: I should point out that I misspoke above as there are cosmological hypotheses that propose the beginning of the current instantiation of our (visible) universe, but even those purport a singularity, or some other *something* for this instantiation to have come from.

@@VeDochaSinjin what has a beginning of existence has a cause because from nothing can not be created something. For example you have a beginning of existence, you didn't exist before you were born. For example your comment have a beginning of existence. Many things have a beginning of existence. Do you agree? Bear in mind atheists would not be able to prove their own existence to themselves if the logical conclusion is God exists and lose their children believing without questions asked that gambling causes a brain disease, and when they are told they don't care.
