Thank you for this video, I will be arriving to Canada on the lasts days of February and this helps a lot! Here in Chile the prices are almost the same, but the difference is that the minimum wage is less than 50% of the minimum wage in Canada, so the cost of living here is way more expensive 😕

Glad to hear this helped! Interesting to here that prices are the same. Yes, it seems that the difference is in the purchasing power then!

How expensive do you think food in Toronto is compared to where you're from/you've been? What price shocked you the most so far? Coming up next is a video on cost of transportation!

I'm interviewing for a job in Toronto and I feel that I would be moving there soon. Already worried about cost of living there. Your videos are very helpful!

Glad to hear! and congrats for that interview! Cost of living is really high in Toronto. But with some creativity and hacks, including bulk shopping, studio living, using public transport, and less consumption overall, it's still liveable!

Everything is expensive no matter where you live, the cost of living is ridiculous.Gotta love it when you hear how much profit all the big companies made, like lob laws, $515 million in profit. Before I moved to Toronto, everything in Toronto was more expensive compared to other cities outside of Toronto but now it’s pretty much the same everywhere.

It is a challenge to stay afloat or get ahead in these times. But with some planning and strategizing it works.

No restaurants for me. Too darn expensive. I just buy a specific import beer since it only cost $2.10 per 500mL can, if I purchase 16 cans. I did my own research way back when, and was shocked to find that at the beer store, some import beers were cheaper than pretty well all the domestic beers. Not what I had expected. I used to shop at places like BASIC FOODS and No Frills, but for several years now I found a way to cut the cost in half, elsewhere. In my last comparison, I purchased $92.66 of food, yet that would have cost me $182.48 at No frills. And yes, I am keeping my secret, secret. LOL

You're right, it's super expensive. I still eat out because I really enjoy the whole experience, but do try to limit the frequency. And yes, I also mainly drink at home :)

It's very similar with sydneys. Prices. Except the beef, are u sure those are good quality one? Way cheaper than sydney.. Are those prices you have the cheapest?. Considering 10 months of freezing weathe, to me. They are expensive.. (I don't like cold)

Prices across Canada have gone up, and in fact every industrialised nation in the world is expensive now. People visiting from other Western nations shouldn't be too surprised if they take into account exchange rates. Often people who move to Toronto refuse to buy milk in the cheapest sizes, which are the bagged 4 litres of milk, which is about $5.35 Cdn. They insist on buying the more expensive 2 litre Tetrapak milk because it is what they are used to back home. And for those who moved here years ago, stop comparing prices of what you remember paying for things back in the day in another country; 2023 is a completely different game around the world! 😉

That's true. Toronto is expensive but you can certainly get great deals if you look around, buy bulk and consider alternative brands, and make it work. I agree, all around the world, not just in developed countries, even in metropolitan cities of developing countries prices are sky-rocketing.
