I grabbed a CRT and a nice table one time that was left out by the dumpster at my apartment complex. I was able to get the CRT working again even though it got rained on, thing has been a champ! The table has survived several moves now and is a great breakfast table.

I was taking the trash out to the dumpster one afternoon and to my surprise I found a PS2 just sitting there at the bottom of the dumpster. It looked like it was in good shape and it had all the hookups so I take it inside and plug it in and it works, it even had a game in the disc tray. Was shocked that someone would through out a system like that but finding that was definitely a highlight for me during the lockdown:-)

the 42 inch panasonic plasma TV that I have all my retro consoles on for the last 3 years was a freebie at our old apartment dumpster with a note saying works great... It still does. It actually looks better than modern screens on old games, but not quite CRT good. It has a bunch of inputs which is handy.

I also think it was cool to like hear a bunch of great bands that I used to listen to show up in games like Madden, 2003 in particular. But yeah hearing bands show up in video games i found to be pretty amazing

As a retro store customer, I would love popping in every few weeks to see what rare/interesting items were traded in, that usually sat in the glass cases. Even if I had no intention to buy said items. R.O.B. and complete in box Power Glove one week…and then black label Silent Hill (PS1) the next.

I worked at a record store back in 2006-2007 and we were open till midnight and 1am on new release night. I hated doing trade-ins more than anything. I would turn down any album, game, or movie we had too many used copies of and people would always balk. They would only be worth 10 cents. And exactly what Ian said about space applies too. Not only that but we had Walmart, Best Buy, and Target thieves try to sell things UNOPENED with the price stickers still on them. Obviously for drug money usually. When I told them I'd need a photocopy of their license they'd get spooked and say "oh it's in my car brb" and poof, they left. It also sucked closing at midnight and still having customers in the store. At that point you want to rush them out without coming off like you are. That was always annoying.

I think younger people getting into retro games is fantastic. My son, who is 15 has really been enjoying the NES/SNES classic minis for the past few years.

I wish they would have made a sequel or something for the game Evil Zone for the PS1. I loved the hell out of that game growing up and wish there was more than what there is.

Found an Atari 2600 with 20 games in a box at the curb back in 1998. Works great still.

The ironic thing is if Josh had asked, not only would they have most likely given him the box, but they might have had other gaming goodies he could have scored on the cheap as well.

I remember when Halo 2 came out and was with my brother looking for it the same day it came out. People had camped out and lines were huuuuge in stores waiting for it so i was kinda bummed we were probably not going to get a copy that day. I saw a game stop that did not have that long of a line so i formed up and then an employee came out and asked if i had reserved a copy so i said no and he said well there is no guarantee we will have a copy for you so i just walked away. I told my brother lets go across the street and get some pizza which we did and after about an hour or so when the lines died down a bit i saw there was this videogame and movie rental store which also had a videogame store section. I can't remember the name of it but i never seen one outside of San Diego, anyways i walked in and there were no lines or anything so i was thinking yeah they probably ran out of copies reason why there were only a couple of people in there but i thought what the heck let's just ask see when they will get a new shipment in and then the employee to my surprise said yeah we still have it. I was kinda shocked and said really? i don't need to reserve it or anything? he said nope and showed me a huge box of halo 2 stock they had so i got mine and went home happy. While driving home, saw one game stop with still a long line and thought man that reserve stuff caused them to stand in line since they had already purchased it and could not just go to another place to buy it.

Time Killers was way more fun than many people realized! The gore was a great hook, and the damage capacity was fun as hell when you were trying to win without arms! The control was unique using all 5 buttons (2 arms, 2 legs, and a head attack!) Although facing Death was so hard because you could only ever win if you could decapitate him after you stunned/dizzied him!

For fighting games, a new Samurai Showdown would be dank! Am with Ian on the music influence being stoked to hear in a game. Thrasher Skate and Destroy had a Hip-Hop soudtrack that edreared me to the game, I'd take over Tony Hawk, tho I appreciate the person, any day of the week. Cheers ^_^

My vote for a fighting game sequel would be thrill kill which never got a release on the Playstation, even though it was finished. It was dumped and is a great game.

Thanks for the answers! Time Killers on Genesis is honestly one of the worst arcade ports on the system, up there with stuff like Super Thunder Blade and Turbo Outrun. Not that I think the arcade is any good, though. But it did get a kinda-sorta sequel called BloodStorm about two years later. That... Was pretty bad as well. Infamously, the company behind Time Killers and BloodStorm went on to make the arcade version of Street Fighter the Movie which Capcom looked at and went "okay no thanks" and basically remade the game for consoles. Fighting games wouldn't be the same without INCREDIBLE TECHNOLOGIIIIIIIES.

I don't mind that they put the title on JBL, but I'm hoping they evolve the character or else the whole rich guy in a limo is going to run thin. Renee Dupree could be a decent babyface if they broke him away from Le Resistance.
