I used to be lukewarm because i thought id lose friends (who didn't believe in Jesus) , even potential romantic relationships.I keep praying and hoping that one day I'll get a real christian man who won't make me want to compromise on my relationship with God❤️
This is breaking the first commandment, that you are willing to put any man ahead of God. I would not compromise on that very important issue. Like attract like, so be a hot Christian and God will provide you with your need

I know of this interpretation, that "hot is good and cold is good," but apparently, I needed to hear it today. While I was listening, I came under some distinct conviction. It wasn't severe. It was more of a warning but also enough to cause me to pray and repent. I want to be either hot or cold, passionate or stoic, fully committed to what Jesus would have me do in this life, and I am grateful for this video, if only for the reminder that I, too, might be less extreme in my temperature than I had thought.
Christians who walk around with no acknowledgment that they are wretched that they are pitiable that they are poor that they are blind. Those are lukewarm Christians according to the Context. There’s a vast majority of Christians who scoff at the notion of being wretched of being pitiable . Of being poor of being blind of being naked. there’s a great need in the church for brokenness, which our brother Paul had. We need to be broken and emptied of our self, so that God can do his proper work , being full of Him Hallelujah
Very interesting, I was unaware of this information. I have always heard the "be on fire for God" teaching. A few years ago I also heard this taught in relation to the covenants, which to me made a lot more sense than the more common teaching you mention early on your video. Thank you!
That's right. On a hot summer day, it's good to have a cold drink. On a cold winter day, it's good to have a hot drink. Luke warm coffee is bad, and there have many times I have drunk it, and spit it out right away. Good word!
This feels very different but I think the takeaway is the same. Whether you want to be “on fire for God” (“hot” by our English sensibilities) or “useful for God”, (hot or cold to the laodiceans), it’s pretty easy to get what lukewarm means (lacking sincere believer, trusting yourself and not God, or failing to strive for his Kingdom). The way this does help is for those who have feared being considered lukewarm, meaning they worry their effort will the judged to be not “hot” enough. It all comes down to the faith vs works debate. Jesus is our rest and He will make us more like him over time, if we fix our eyes on him. But I like the note that this message is to the church- that the CHURCH planted there needed to make sure it’s leadership and it’s it’s values lead the flock in the right place.
No. They thought they were rich and weren’t. Meaning, they thought they were saved and were not. It has nothing to do with their behavior or their works and everything to do with their eternal security. Most likely these people are of the church today who think they can go to heaven by depending on their own ability to turn from their sins and go do good works. The amount of people teaching this today is scary and it’s not supported for salvation biblically. And if everyone is teaching this works based salvation, doing it and yet they are lukewarm it confirms it has nothing to do with the works of the person. You can only go to heaven by the sacrifice of Christ and how you accept that gift is believe it and trust in it for salvation.
Please explain to me your take on this. If cold means completely uncommitted to God, how is that good? Please don’t use a cold drink of water on a hot day analogy. That doesn’t work for me

For the life of me I’ll never understand why. People take the word out of context other than to control masses. How you explained this was in the context vans the exact people using this scripture to hurt are the exact ones that are lukewarm .
What if you are in the desert? :) It is not a question about being "hot" in your faith, or at least it should not be. Very easy to meander into works if you go down that route. The point Jesus made was to not be useless to the Lord. Like undrinkable, lukewarm water (or lukewarm coffee, which any coffee drinker knows is absolutely terrible thus spits it out), Christians that has become indifferent to Jesus because they are safe and sound within their life, do not rely on Jesus. If you are standing in the middle of the herd, you're safe and cozy. You don't feel the cold wind from the world outside. You don't see the wolf so you don't fear it. You become indifferent and just go through the motions, never allowing God to work in your life. You have become lukewarm water (or coffee). Cold - it is okay to be "cold" in your faith, if you know it. Because then you will (or you should) turn to Jesus and ask for help. That is something He can work with! The same with the "warm" faith, where you are dependent on God and allow Him to work through you. Just don't be indifferent to the point where you say to God "I'm good. I don't need anything from You". Because no human being have ever been nor will ever exist that do not need God's gifts! You can be the richest person on earth, but as long as there's still poor people around you will need more. To give away, that is.. Another point I want to make - there are times in your life where you will point your finger towards God. You feel your faith diminish, and you accuse God for the situation you are in (why is this happening to me/him/her/them?). But if you, even then, put your trust in Him (I don't think it is fair, God, but Your will be done!), He will carry you through. You are cold, but willing. He can work with that! :) Just never be indifferent and tell God "whatever"!
Then Jesus wouldn't say "I wish that you were COLD or HOT". What Chad Bird said in this video absolutely makes sense. I agreed that we as christians should have a zeal and fire for the Lord. But being cold is good as well as being hot. Both COLD and HOT water are Useful.
Giving a cup of cold water is good. If you give water, make sure it is cold. We are able to give cups of cold water. It would be unjust for Jesus to ask or expect something from us that we are not able to give. If you give a cup of cold water to a little one, you will not lose your reward. Promise!!

There's different Judgments church leaders and people who know their masters will be held to a higher judgment you really twisted this up its better to not have built than to have built a half tower. It literally says I know your deeds there are deadly sins read what Paul writes
