i come from Viet Nam. and in my country, the weather is good for agriculture. green pastures in my mind is place full of grass. In my country, we feed buffalos in the green pastures and they drink water in the river. We have a lot of river. When i watch your video. and i think the faith of israel in Old Testament. The promise land is a desert, sunny, hot, very hot, no rainy, little water, but in their faith this land is promise land, where have a lot of milk and honey. Thank be to God.
I've been always imagining Psalms 23 as place in New Zealand or something. I am yet to be reminded that this was written in land of Israel! Thank you for the tour and keep it up
Hmm New Zealand. The land of fairy tales and greenery. Dont be misled! Its damp deprrssing and has very poor housing standards. I moved here for the adventure but it is definately a great place to visit, not such a great place to live. Low wages, hugh expenses just to meet basic needs esp in winter.
Or it is a psalm of hope. "Green pasture" is the traditional English translation of what could be more accurately be described as"greenery." Lots of green everywhere. This video describes the reality of sheep in Israel, but David wrote about the ideal place that The Shepherd would lead them towards and in which they can lay down in an enjoy calm streams of water. IMHO.
Such a beautiful video. Great faith lesson. But the writers don't know the basic history of the area. Psalm 23 was written at a time when the Middle East had better rainfall - it was home to deer, bears and even lions. The Bible records this and archeologists support it. The writer of Psalm 23 (King David) defended his sheep from wild animals and lions (1 Sam 34). These predators depended on a wetter climate and a more productive food chain. This is verifiable history. The rainfall of the area has changed due to deforestation and climate change - and 3000 years is a long time. So this video relies on the idea that the 'green pastures' are mostly 'brown'. But that's the contemporary climate. Imagine the area with trees, livestock, birds, bushes, sheep, deer, goats, bears, and even lions. Imagine it as described in the Bible - a 'land flowing with milk and honey'. Imagine it more like savannah. That's fact. That's how it was when Psalm 23 was written. That's fact. What if "green pastures" actually meant something literally like... "green pastures?"
I don't see the link for full explanation of this psalm. Can you please add it to description? So looking forward to seeing these videos. May our Lord Jesus bless you all richly.
Thank you for watching, Patti! It means so much to us that it was helpful and powerful in your own walk with the Lord. It really changed my perspective when I learned about it as well!
Thank you so much Carolyn. We're glad it encouraged you! Keep an eye out for the next episode at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6fUf2cubkrc.html
I have read Psalm 23 for years but never looked beyond the surface of the words penned by David. I now have a greater appreciation and understanding of this incredibly beautiful Psalm. Thank you for sharing the footage and making me look deeper. God bless you.
But its not according to the bible. The explanation never mentioned once Jesus. The Bible is about jesus The Old Testament shows us the spirit of Jesus. When you read the psalms see Jesus in them. We were not the ones in the bible or our sufferings or a prophets sufferings that are declared in the bible. Its all Jesus. But dint believe my words believe Jesus's own words. John 5:39 (KJV) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Luke 24: 25 ¶ Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. 32 ¶ And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? 44 ¶ And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 ¶ And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day Acts 2: 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 22 ¶ Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. 25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 ¶ Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34 ¶ For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 36 ¶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 28:23 (KJV) And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into [his] lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and [out of] the prophets, from morning till evening. @@IsraelU a transcript, like Dave does on Instagram for his photos. (If you'd like to hire someone to do this, I'm a good Christian woman who'd love the job 😹)
I LOVE your videos, I just wish you guys had a better mastering/leveling program. The music is usually up too loud and often distracts me from the amazing lessons you bring us.

The Judaean Desert is a place where David was at once upon a time. But it is not the only place he was at. He visited many places and the green pastures of Galilee were some of them. No scholarship was presented to justify the claim that people have misunderstood Psalm 23. That’s because there is no scholarship to justify the claim. You are just talking.
This video is incredibly misleading. Not all of Israel is a desert for one. Number two, that is clearly not a green pasture. David hoped in the lord to bring the plenty that Hashem promised. That is the point of the Psalm: to be lead out of the desolation, and to be brought to plenty.

I was born on a 23rd day and this is my Psalm. You made me look at it from a different perspective. I have several customers / friends who are Jewish. One recently passed away and I was at the funeral and Psalm 23 was right there. I was taken back by it as I am Catholic and did not know this Psalm also was in the Jewish faith. Tells you how much I have yet to learn. Thanks for sharing this will all of us. God bless.
