What does the Bible say about Laziness 

My greatest sin is laziness, it has been hindering so much in my life. All I want is to change my ways and obey the Lord.

I am physically disabled and get labelled "lazy" because i cannot do physical labor. What they do not realize is the intellectual, non-physical work i do. If you contribute to society in any way, that counts! Everyone has a gift, use it! Do not let anyone shame you if your work does not live up to THIER standards. The only standard that matters is God's!

I don't feel entitled but I definitely have always struggled with laziness. I am ashamed.

A prayer upon anyone who reads this- Lord, I pray that you help us and lead us. Let us not be lazy but guide us by your spirit that in anything and everything that we do- be it helping someone, studying, working, cleaning,- we may glorify you GOD. For you are worthy of all honor and all glory and all praise! We love you so much Jesus. Guide us that we know your will, as we seek you everyday. We commit all things upon your mighty hand. In Jesus name, Amen.

A Rabbi once told me..........That people think God is a genie and that he's suppose to take care or them and on our part do nothing. We have to take steps to GOD for HIM to take steps toward us 😃 😊

I’ve been struggling with this for the last few years. It’s like I’ve been in this rut where I can’t do what I really want to do and instead I procrastinate. I’ve been missing out on family time and hobbies that I love. If anything is going to get me out of this it is God and Jesus. ❤

I struggle with lazyness but I want to emit more love and strengthen my faith. "Work as if you're working for the Lord" - this really helps me understand what mindset i should adopt, instead of how I've been approaching life lately

Work as if you were working for the Lord, what a beautiful passage! Not that I am lazy, but will definitely put this passage into play henceforth at work!

I think its important to note- that there are also hard working people that don't have 'jobs'...(aka a paid position) but still work hard... for example stay at home mothers, missionaries, as well as those who are retired - but still have activities such as gardening, knitting, cooking... etc etc. And this also doesn't mean you have to brow beat yourself... working hard may look like an 8 hour job 5 days a week for someone, it maybe a 12 hour job 4 days a week for someone else , it could be a 5 hour job 6 days... etc etc... and it also doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't take time even on those working days to have fun, spend time and enjoy your family, and/or have some 'self care'- take a hike, play a game, go to the beach, read a book, go to the pool- the park... these are not bad things to incorporate in our days/lives. There is a balance... and life should something you work at by living well, it should be enjoyed. I truly don't think for 1 second Yah was trying to say we all needed to be slaves to our jobs or to never have fun, or travel or spend time with our families and so forth.... and there are seasons where we may be able to do more work than other times... I agree with the sentiment of this video- but I think it could easily cause some folks to feel like they are failures because they will think- oh no! I'm not going to a job & 'clocking in' for 7,8...10 hours a day 6 days a week... I'm not bringing home a paycheck, am I sinning? Am I breaking Torah?... There may need to be a follow up to this video or some clarifications in regards to 'what work is'... and how much is 'required'... and that this may look different for each person... The point I think Yah wants us to gain from 6 days you shall work- is that we are to be fruitful, purposeful in each day... don't take the days you are given for granted... make the most of each day. Live your life on purpose... be wise and diligent in all that you do- to the best with YOUR abilities and your circumstances. 💞

What does the bible say about no jobs around you or not getting hired when you resume is amazing

I believe Christ's Apostles who ministered The Word didn't take money for themselves. They took it for the widows, orphans & the completely disabled. Work done in the Lord's name is stored up in Heaven. Ppl hosted, fed and honoured the Apostles/Disciples and yet they were STILL instructed to make themselves useful during their visits (so yes, God encourages work) which teaches us the importance of Fellowship. Certainly a letter sent instructing the Disciples and building up Churches in the Word wasn't only sent after a payment was received! How lucky I feel to be in Fellowship with Brothers who Minister in Spirit and Truth unto the Lord and not for Mammon! I believe that is why God has blessed their business endeavors so successfully. And yes, they are due Honour. Honour doesn't translate as $€£¥₩, however. They would be the first to eschew it and insist it be given to the needy as Alms. I honour your message except for where I feel you perverted it for your own benefit. Beware of those who use the words of the Bible to line their own pockets. Read it for yourself equipped with Spiritual lenses and pray for discernment.

Great message but you started that poverty can be overcome by being deligence in your work . This is true for some but not everyone. There are many people who work hard, or work 2 or more jobs but because of inflation, minimum wages, economic systems that are put in place still live below the poverty level. Some people work their butts off and still barely make ends meet. so sometimes diligence does not equal overcoming poverty. Laziness does contribute to poverty. Your statement was that poverty can be overcome by diligent work and that is definitely not always true and never has been true for a lot of people. There is something called overwork which can destabilize a person's life. There has to be a balance to every life. Sometimes the stress of combining secular work and work for the Lord places a heavy burden on people with little or no time to breathe and they are then seen as lazy especially if an aspect of their life suffers as a result

Work does not always mean holding a job. Work can be a stay at home mom that contributes to caring for the household and property they live at. BUT, let’s take it to a spiritual connection to God through His Holy Ghost. We all must do that work to have a consistent and steadfast rebirth through Yeshua. How many can truly say they know, feel, and hear the Holy Ghost in their lives? Let’s speak about spiritual principles which are more important than the careers and things of this earth. After all, Jesus required a man to sell everything he had to follow Him.

Unfortunately we live in a country where laziness is rewarded, and that’s why so many ppl expect everything to be handed to them

What about people who are unable to work because of a pain issue or mental breakdown or burnout? I sure would like to work and take really good care of my home. Just not able - and carrying the shame and guilt every day. I am a hard worker, used to have business of my own. Not any more. Every day is a struggle ...

I totally agree with alot you're saying. I would like to be brutally honest about corporations using hardworking people like myself to cash in on free labor. They cut labor cost by having one person do the work of two people. Without increasing the wage of the employee that's being over worked and under paid. That's a form of stealing as well. Those wicked corporations need to be addressed and dealt with for crooked business practices. And employee abuse.

Im a young man, with severe osteoarthritis in both hips, and still go out to work construction 6 days a week, walking is exhausting, and excruciating, but I don't ever complain about it, i just do it.

I can't even enjoy relaxing if I haven't put in a good day's work. "Relaxing" doesn't even feel good if it isn't taking a load off.

My mom is 87 years old. She had a heart attack in 2008 she has not been able to work since. Because she's unable to work and my father left her nothing except some debt she has not been able to afford insurance for a car. Then her car transmission went out and she was not able to afford to fix it. So she has not driven since 2008. She depends on rides from my sisters to get groceries and to go to church once a week. That's the only time that she gets out besides her monthly doctor appointment. She struggled her whole life the most she made was maybe $7 an hour. She walked to catch a bus to ride an hour one way to work while it was still dark and then another way back from work while it was dark because she worked at Swallen's. By the time she got to where she worked and was inside there were no windows and it was always dark to her outside. Except for the one day a week she was off. She did that for about 22 years. She worked at the Dollar general for maybe another 5 years or so until she had her heart attack. So now she's 87 and draws Social security and she doesn't work. I wouldn't call my mother lazy. I would say she's entitled to what she earned. Just saying. So I wouldn't say that the elderly that aren't drawing Social security are lazy.

I work freelance jobs and it's been three weeks, feeling overwhelmed bc of the noise in our renovating house, and now too lazy to work. I'm so dissociated. I needed this.

If your employer isn't able to give you 6 days worth of work, and maybe having a project or something that you do at home count as that sixth day?

We also live in a world that lazy evil people deny people that want and need to work from working. It's wrong for there to be things set in place to prevent people from obtaining employment.

I have PTSD. This is a constant battle for me. Many days I struggle to do anything. Pray for me please.

Oooooo. This is a good subject. The Bible says the righteous shall beade fat, but don't bother to see what it's talking about, it also talks about giving of the fat of the land and the rivers being mad fat. "Fat" in scripture is typically used to describe health and vitality, also purity.

What happens if you are willing to work and you aspire to work according to the gifts God has given you, but you are systematically denied work to force you into poverty.

I am challenged sometimes with feeling tired and feelings of giving up and not wanting to work anymore. My parents famous words was “Do it right or do not do it at all” and I know you all know what was chosen. I grew up ingrained to do everything with such perfectionism that it has made it very difficult to work in some work environments. I have constantly been called in the office for not allowing others to do what they can but most times I see what they are doing is unethical and not right. I try not to make it about being right or wrong, it is tough to watch or be in the environment. I have been working since I was 14 years old and I have always worked two jobs or more(volunteer). I feel tired and want to rest then I feel like I am being lazy. It takes a lot for me to take time out for me.

Unfortunately, in 3 hours I will be in bed fast asleep. But hope I get to see the segment tomorrow. Good onya Lex. Love your work.

Paul labored day and night to provide for himself and stated he did so to be self sufficient and rely on nobody except God. But more importantly he said, this pleases GOD and also, this set an example for his people.

Is working out considered as work? I think it should be right? I work in my job usually 3-4 days a week, but on other days, when I don't have job, I do workout, read, study etc...

Lex, I am assuming that working 6 days includes work that may not take place within a workplace? If you work for an employer 5 days a week and spend the 6th day doing other work, lawn,home,household responsibilities etc., this would be acceptable?

I remember the days when I had no secular job, yet I was selling stuffs back then so that I have my money to sustain me into the ministries for the LORD. These are the times when everyone sees me as a failure yet I kept my labor for the Gospel. Thank God He sustained me in all of my needs and kept my family's health and safety though they are the primary bashers. Calling me "lazy" or "sluggard" only brought more anxiety to me fueling my OCD and ADHD. Time came that the political system of the local church kicked me and tagged me as 'immoral' then cared no more for me, I just focused on what I have and it became a good profiting business now. I may be missing the way I had relationship with God and the way I used to minister to His people (all because due to the trauma made by that local church to me) but still I am thanking them that they did it or else I won't experience external peace in my life. The sad truth is that I always experience anxiety attacks whenever I do nothing or what I did is not bearing fruit/profiting/beneficial especially within the six-day-work timeframe. I am now struggling to find inner peace maybe because I am no longer connected to God just like before.

My boss makes work life tough. He gossips about most people and rewards those who sellout another. I feel like im disobeying him when im lazy.

I do agree with the video... however it's not this clean cut for everybody... for healthy people that are able, yes i 100% agree... however there are exeptions... You cannot call a man in a wheelchair lazy for not mowing his lawn... Now this example is maybe extreem, but my point is not everybody is able... I cannot work due to physical and mental problems... I do what I can but I'm limited by my sicknesses... I pray for god to make me better so I CAN do the work I need to do... But untill Yeshua heals me I'm very limited to what I can do...

I have a mental health illness which is anxiety and depression and i collect a monthly disability check. And im only 52 years old now does that make me lazy. I worship God, go to church and i started reading the bible. Now give me some feedback and advice. Right your comments.

I'm a student right now, but I will never forget those who labour for the Father when I'm wealthy, not one of you brothers of mine will be forgotten for the work you do to educate and strengthen people like me growing in the Lord.

I am disabled under the VA and Social Security I don't work anymore. I really hope this is not a sin. This is something that bothers me. I receive a good amount of disability pay and don't work for it sometimes I do feel guilty but at the same time blessed.

Also, Lex, we need to have a heart to serve others. In my job as a gardener, that’s my core motivation. We are serving the Lord in serving others, out of love.

Amen to this teaching! @ Unlearned, But what about those who cannot work because of medical conditions or what about those who are retired people, are they sinning because they cannot work? Does the Bible says that if anyone is not working 6 days then we are defiling the sabbath??

Working so hard in 5 days (60+ hours of manual labor then coming home to help my wife take care of 5 kids four of which are in diapers) then observing the Shabbat and then not doing much the day after or using it as a day to take the kids to the park ECT is perfectly ok. The Shabbat is still set a part bc the focus is on YHWH. The next day is focused on things I want to do and it might not be "work" related. I've worked very hard my whole life while others stand around and watch me work doing their job and mine, so sometimes doing nothing for two days is not lazy just saying. Shalom Lex

I have a 35 yr old step son who hasn't had a job since he was born. All he do is eat, on the internet 24/7, do nothing but sit in lounge room and complains to help with choirs. He has slept in the lounge room for 10 years. My 4 young adults children are ashamed of him and I want him out too. . I worked since I was 16. 59 now. Always loved my gardens. Did construction work and health work all my life. Had heart attack 4 yrs ago and half of me is here and the other half is gone. A lot closer and a lot decent relationship with Jesus too. Witnessing it all and what do you do. 🙏 .

I'm 65 years old and disabled and i still try to work doing something but i can't work eight hours a day. But before i got disabled i worked 12 to 18 hours a day. How do i make this right with the Lord now. I'm not looking for a easy way out but I'm at a loss here.

I really don't know how anyone could argue with this.

I don't understand the part about "if you don't work six days, you are not keeping the sabbath". Most full time jobs are forty hours a week, eight hours for five days. What if a person works Monday to Friday then keeps Saturday as the sabbath?

I am upset with myself because I have a neighbor who left. He was my friend for many years and we had coffee and conversation in front of his house. Then I found out that he was going to lose his house because he owed $500M . He managed to sell it 15 days before it was auctioned off. Never worked just pretended. I never asked because he was up at 5AM, walked his dog and said he would be busy for the day. I do not eat or listen to any financial advice from a person who does not work. All the lies. just story teling. No judgement just stating facts ...I would not have spent time having coffee or discussing ideas. Praise GOD I never agreed with his financial strategy. Now I know why.

Great video! Could this also apply to people who don’t prep for hard times to come? And using “the Lord will provide” as an excuse? That’s always been my opinion but I’m not sure I am right, so I thought I’d ask.

I personally am a 69 year old workaholic, which I think can be almost as bad - although I do love my Shabbat rest. I homestead off grid raising ducks and goats, pumping water, cleaning stalls and nest boxes, watering, constantly adjusting, repairing and reconfiguring solar panels, watering stations, outdoor washing and cooking areas, milking, feeding, mowing when the goats don’t do their job, etc. I feel so incredibly blessed every morning when I eat my fresh duck egg omelette with homemade cheese and flatbread, and that I am able to share the abundance with neighbors. Work is definitely a blessing when we produce something from our labors. I worked for years in corporate America and made good money but never had the feeling of satisfaction at the end of a day as I do now, or the sound restorative sleep that goes along with physically productive labor. God obviously knows what He created us to do and be better than we do.

I like what you teach here on this channel and have learned so many things. One problem I hope you can help me with… There are no churches near me (at least none I have found so far) that teach these things. How do I find a church that teaches the real truth? They all say they have the “truth” but do not teach like you do; they teach lies. I used to be one of those teachers and God is opening my eyes through your ministry.
