The challenge with most catholics is when they pray"Holy Mary mother of God" is where it makes me cringe. Mary did not have an immaculate conception. For that there is no credible historical evidence. Catholics believe Mary can manipulate Jesus to answer our prayers, because she has more compassion than the Creator. Catholics attempt to rob God of His humility in becoming human, by softening His condescension into a sinless vessel. God cannot be infected with sin. Hello. Matthew 1:25 does not imply that the Most Holy Virgin Mary did not remain a virgin after the birth of Christ. That it is said that St.Joseph did not know her until she gave birth to Christ, does not meant that after that she stopped being a virgin. She remained a Virgin after the Birth of Christ. There is a prophecy in the Old Testament about her according to which she will remain a Virgin forever: ,,Then he brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary, which faces east. And it was shut. 2 And the Lord said to me, “This gate shall remain shut; it shall not be opened, and no one shall enter by it, for the Lord, the God of Israel, has entered by it. Therefore it shall remain shut. 3 Only the prince may sit in it to eat bread before the Lord. He shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gate, and shall go out by the same way.” (Ezekiel 44:1-2, ESV). The gate of the sanctuary that the Lord God has entered and that shall remain shut, is the Most Holy Virgin Mary. Luke 1:78 says,,because of the tender mercy of our God, hereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high“ (ESV). The sunrise from on high refers to Christ. See I've heard the arguments on both sides, and I have to say that I think the Protestant side makes more sense especially since the amount of veneration she receives does not match the level of presence Mary has in the Bible. One thing i know for sure is that the Catholics i know do not worship Mary. She intercedes to God for them. In the same way someone may ask you to pray for him or her to God because you are a pastor, they can equally call on Jesus's mother to speak to her son on their behalf. The Bible records her son actually giving in to his mother's request even before his miracle-performing time. She has that maternal connection with her son. She therefore has the capacity to intercede in an even special way. Moreover, God specially chose her and called her full of grace. The Angel instructed by God called her "blessed amongst women".
