Mine has a 2740 stamped on it? Its pretty old - is there a new numbering system?

What does the second number mean? I have a 29-3. I get that the 29 means that the unit is 30 inches long. What does the 3 mean? I'm having a tough time finding 29-3. I can find 29-1, 29-2, 29-6, etc.... but not 29-3. Can I use one of the others?

Hi Ed, The second number indicates a weight range for the balance. You can find all of those stamps here: windowhardwaredirect.com/collections/block-and-tackle-window-balances/products/series-300-block-tackle-window-balance

Hi! Thank you for this video. I'm trying to place an order for 8 balances. So far I've been able to determine that the stamp 3020 is engraved in the metal (series 400), they are 31" long, the top guide is winged, and the bottom is non winged. The thing is that I have no idea how to measure the bottom guide to choose the right one from the menu. Please help! Thanks

What do you do if there is no stamp? My window balance has none.

Hi James, We would recommend weighing the sash and measuring the visible glass height. You can find our guide on that here: windowhardwaredirect.com/blogs/news/how-to-determine-the-length-of-a-window-balance-from-sash-height Thanks, Window Hardware Direct
