I'm glad there was more from that organ and the magnificent setting, both in the Abbey and outdoors. Those Baroque artisans did fabulous work, with the organ and the building. You're becoming as well traveled as Dr. Balint Karosi when doing your videos. February 6, 2023, from Chicago, U.S.A.
A beautiful abbey and the organ speaks bravely into it. I enjoyed some of the 'breathy' flutes. From so far away, we are glad you're invited into these places and trusted with musical treasures. Also, the inclusion of 'b-roll' of the surroundings is a welcome touch. Gut gemacht!
Thanks for the demonstration of the beautiful Abbey and it’s organ. The on screen print of the stops are most helpful. Your photography of the winter scenes outside the Abbey and the beautiful ornate inside the Abbey. Thank you for donning winter gear to demonstrate for us the sounds of this organ. From one of your many USA fans. John Dallas TX
What a stunning abbey - amazing place. The organ is glorious and you give it such a wonderful demonstration here. Thank you for bringing us on this special journey!
Despite the absence of reeds, it's a very complete, lovely sounding organ. I like the sound of these baroque organs. And these beautiful baroque buildings. And the beautiful playing and filming of you! 😊
Hallo, lieber Paul.
Thank you so much, Edward! Haha, well - a suitable 4-manual organ incl. a recording permission is challenging to find here, but I‘ll get to record it eventually😀
Has ever so grand an historical instrument had so sumptuous a home? Wow! Thank you so much, Paul, for the demonstration of this fine organ, and for the footage of this amazing building. I can only imagine the awe accompanying an "in-person" experience. Your playing is ever a treat, Friend. Thank you!
These organs remind us their environment becomes part of the instrument: organist learn how to play the room as well as instrument & Paul does this beautifully
Listening to it through my phone speaker doesn't do it justice, BUT, connected to a decent stereo system with a 12" sub and it makes everything rattle! 😂 It's like I'm actually there! Surprised to see it's a 2-manual, it sounds bigger 😀👍
Thanks Paul it’s always good to listen to a demonstration of the stops of an organ by yourself . As you noted many individual stops are quite ‘soft’ but come together in great harmony in that acoustic. It’s wonderful that this old organ has been so well looked after.
Magnificent demonstration, in this splendid historic organ, beautiful combinations of registers, I loved it young master Paul. Warm greetings from the east of the Kingdom of Spain. 👍🤝💓
Thank you for this fine demonstration of another historic organ. The video of the Abbey was a great match with the sound track. This is a really beautiful structure with a fine instrument. Bravo!
Melted hearing these brilliant mixtures, WOW. Through the peculiarity of synesthesia, I actually see a vivid ‘image’ of perhaps the equivalent luminous flaked gold foil hearing those various plenum components in chorus. And, what a shimmering space!😃
A wonderful presentation today of this beautiful and historic organ at the Abbey . The overall sound seems more gentle than other Baroque organs . I enjoyed your improvisations and interludes. The video work was very appealing, especially of the landscape around the church. Thank you, Paul, for this and all of your videos.
Very interesting instrument. I am surprised that there were no reeds. Nonetheless, for a fairly small instrument it certainly has a big voice...cymbelstern and all!
Thank you for watching, Paul! Yep - a reed in the Pedal or manual would be a great addition. Its a monastery-church, so maybe they wanted to keep these „loud“ sounds out of it. They organ sound pretty bright and clean, fitting the church 😀
Reeds are rather atypical for a Bavarian baroque organ and only became more common at the end of the 18th century. Even in the 19th century, smaller organs in Bavaria were only equipped with a Trombone in the Pedal. The compositions of the then organists from the old Bavarian-Austrian culture were adapted to this. The organ landscape of baroque Franconia and Swabia, on the other hand, was definitely in the hands of Reeds under the influence of French and Eastern German organ builders. The denominational boundaries may also have played a certain role here, since Old Bavaria and Austria were strictly Catholic at the time, while Swabia and Franconia were more Lutheran. And the music was also a mirror to the church architecture. The italian influenced old Bavarian baroque literally brought heaven to earth. The music only reinforces this impression.
Thank you so much for watching! For recording this organ I‘ve used my Olympus LS14 and Zoom H4n recorder and mixed the recordings with the camera-audio 😀
Big opening sound - yet only a two manual instrument (Ok, Ok, number of nmanuals doesn't determine the sound of an instrument - bit it's an opener for a "discussion" -haha)
