What DOWNTOWN SEATTLE Looks Like Today

Walking is one of my favorite activities. It allows me to burn a few calories and refocus my mind while observing what is going on around me.
This morning (Saturday 6-13-20) I decided to hit up the Commercial District of downtown Seattle to get a few steps in. Coffee is something I often seek out when I'm on these urban walks and I opted for a fantastic cup of java at Monorail Espresso during this walk. Also, see where the only bathroom that's currently open at Pike Place Market is located LOL.
See what Westlake Mall, Pacific Place, Washington State Convention Center and Pike Place Market look like on this date. Stay safe during these unique and challenging times, everyone!

If you think the wood suppliers are doing well you should see how much glass costs. Here at home some of the business glass is $10,000 a pane and Seattle is typically much more expensive.

Yes. I visited Seattle from Australia back in late 2017 and remember how beautiful and safe the city appeared to be and the markets were amazing!! I am so sad that it may not go back to that. I am sooo glad I got to see it how it was before this though.

It has taken Detroit 53 years to make a comeback from this kind of chaos. In fact, we're still working at it. Be careful who you vote for. Maintaining law and order with fairness for everyone is imperative. Property destruction and stealing is not the antidote for injustice.

@@89540163 Agreed. A combination of less corrupt politicians along with people moving in who want make Detroit better has really made a difference. The issue is that that could change very quickly. Fixing that level of physical and psychological damage is hard to do and takes lots of work, and there are still a lot of people from all spectrums who profit from playing victim in dying cities.

A message on the street said that Shaun Fuhr was killed by the Seattle Police while holding his 1-year old baby. Sounds awful right? Truth is Shaun Fuhr had been beating his girlfriend for hours before taking off with their baby. The mother was extremely worried about the child's safety because Shaun Fuhr had a gun and alerted the police. The police primary concern was the safety of the child and Shaun Fuhr could just have stopped when the police chased him. Now that's another story right?

My 1st job hitchhiking into town in 1981 was at Lowell's next to The Athenian at Pike Place the very 1st Starbucks was at the Sanitary Market across the street and nobody had ever heard of Microsoft which was still in Bellevue.
