@@doko980629 Well, unmatched in cheating. The amount of performance enhancers he used must have been frightening. Yes he obviously put in the time in the gym. But if he had gone the right route, he would never have become that big, or that strong. Sadly it all came back to knock him on his ass. He is a mere shadow of what he once was. His health destroyed forever.
@@palmarolavlklingholm9684shows you know nothing of what your talking about lol. Go read about Ronnie peasant before commenting on the king. Tell me you know nothing about Ronnie without telling me you know nothing about Ronnie. Lmaooooooo geek.
@@q-tips9984Well, he had the opportunity to get it fixed early on but decided to ignore it cause he wanted to win Mr. Olympia by any means necessary. Now look at him.
@@davidbanner9001 Like he himself has said he doesn't regret any of it. If we go to the degree, no human should ever consider any top tier weight lifters/strongmen/bodybuilders to be the optimal. The amount of unhealthy shit these guys put in themselves daily, their anabolic steroid usage on monthly level is literally insanity. Its like the same saying like when Eddie used to weight 30 stones, his life was in immediate danger during all that time but hey he got his WSM title by risking his life. They are all great examples why u shouldn't do the things they do unless u really want to compete at highest levels on those sports. Now u might bring an argument that there is athletes that did not get rough operations after their career was over for not lifting heavy but then I could also bring into the table that they didn't win the Olympia 8 times. So does that mean Ronnie took his body to the extreme to achieve that and is just paying the price which he was willing to pay and the others were not willing to pay such price which resulted in them never getting even close to the physique/achievements Ronnie managed to achieve.
Literally everyone on the planet loves Ronnie. He’s one of the most positive and nice humans on the planet! Even though he can’t walk, he isn’t even slightly bitter! Man is a legend
It's unreal how strong Ronnie was, he was 8 weeks out carb depleted, not even training specifically for strength sports and weighed about 50-70kgs less than a lot of the world strongest men yet was almost just as a strong and in the case of his leg press even stronger what a genetic freak among freaks
Thank you! People never take Ronnie's strength into the right context. They compare him to powerlifters and yes, powerlifters lift more weight than him at the big 3, considerably more nowadays. But powerlifters spend months peaking for a competition, their training is optimized to express their strength as efficiently as possible at those particular lifts, Ronnie did those lifts once a week as hypertrophy exercises and rarely even trained them with low reps, he just went for a max because the camera was there - if a powerlifter tries to max out 2 months from his competition he's not gonna lift anywhere near as much as on competition day either, you can increase your max substantially with a peaking phase but that's not actually getting stronger as much as it's just specializing your strength in that particular thing. And of course there's the diet part, only people who have never actually gone on a proper bodybuilding cut down to single digit body fat don't realize how much of a hit your strength takes. 8 weeks out from the Olympia Ronnie had already been dieting for two months and was already leaner than any powerlifter or strongman in the world, he was certainly already quite a bit weaker than in his off season. That 800 for two 8 weeks out without a strength peaking phase could easily be a 900+ after just 4 weeks of peaking and a high calorie intake.
@@BigUriel All you said and plus that Ronnie is stronger than powerlifters in another exercises. Like Eddie here saying that he can't do rows with 220 kg.
One thing (among many) that I love about "The Beast" is his admiration and respect toward other elite athletes. Half-Bore/Half-Snore aside, Eddie is always straight class...with some added harass-ur-a$$ if you're his "yeah budddddy"!
I honestly doubt we'll ever see another Ronnie Coleman again. Perhaps in strength, and perhaps in size/shred - but to put them both together the way he did was just utterly mind boggling. This man was pulling top tier strength athlete numbers whilst in single digit bodyfat. Makes you wonder what he might've achieved if he went down the strength athlete route and focused purely on Powerlifting, or even Strongman. Though I think it's pretty clear that he'd do much better at PL than SM.
I don't know much about the guy, but I do know he did competed as a powerlifter, didn't he? Without taking anything away from him, clearly he was more gifted towards bodybuilding! (also a route as you call it that would've paid him a lot more! And that could be the reason why he chose it)
Agreed....we won't. He's been gone from competition since 2008 and no one has come close to his combination of size, shape, and conditioning. I believe he was indeed the pinnacle of human development in this sport. We continue to have mass monsters, but they lack the roundness, fullness, shape and conditioning of Coleman. For example, Nick Walker is massive but he looks like an overgrown Hobbit. Ronnie had lines and the classic short torso/long limbs which is visually way more appealing. Even when he got really heavy he was still a sight to behold, but 1998-2000 Ronnie was absolutely perfect and only 2009 Jay Cutler has even approached that.
@fabiotieri3155 yeah, he did powerlifting in the beginning, absolutely loved the gym!! There's vids of him talking about why he started bodybuilding. Amazing that there are Pro Bodybuilders that will testify how he was natural even when he first started competing as a pro. Coleman is a specimen, no others will ever come close!! I still get into the BB scene but the way they train is nothing even close!!
Civilian - Officer is there a problem? Ronnie - Yeaaah Buddyy!!!!! Civilian - What seem to be the problem Ronnie - Light weight baby!!!!!! OOuuuuuuuuuuuuu! @@ChristopheStrobbe
What most people don’t give him credit for is that he was at most 10% bodyfat while doing all these feats, if he let himself go and ate like a strongman he would easily lift even more.
Ronnie came down to NZ round 04-05 3 weeks after the Olympia and did a meet n greet and questions session. There was only about 30 or 40 people in the room sat there listening to him speak on competing and training for an hour or so. I thought we were big but man when you see him in the flesh back then he was massive. Unbelievable what the human body can morph into when uou have the best genetics and the plan comes together.
@@JohanChristensen_Yea he came to NZ in 04-05 and I think he won the NZ Grandprix in Wellington. I never saw him that year but he came earlier in 2001 just a few months after he won his 3rd Olympia. He did a seminar in Auckland. Never will I ever see a Behemoth human of his stature ever again. He wasn't only BIG BIG BIG but he was shredded to the bone and I ain't over exaggerating. I still haven't seen anybody with forearms that had all these definition lines and veins with XFactor vascularity to this day. Phil Heath only had seminar vascularity but not size
@@johninnz he did the seminar in Onehunga, Auckland. NZs tallest biggest police officer was there too, even though he was taller he looked like a slim guy compared to coleman
Ronnie is not only one of the best bodybuilders ever, he's also a genuinely nice and uplifting fellow to be around. His attitude and energy drives everyone around him to excel.
I told a guy the exact same thing about lifting what only 10% of strong men can do He said he would of finished last in that competition. BS. His trading was off the chain. And he worked 8 hours a day as a cop. One of the best people I ever met.
He's the king... We were all lucky to grow up watching this man do his thing...i still train everyday while watching his videos...there is no better motivation....try it
Everyone wants to talk about how Arnold was the greatest thing to ever happen to bodybuilding and I am not trying to take away what he has achieved but Ronnie is just built different. Arnold was incredibly well defined at his peak but Ronnie is just an absolute monster. You see these guys that are big but not that great of definition or the smaller guys that are just carved from stone but Ronnie had the best of both worlds... I got the pleasure or running into him a few years ago and he is 100% the person you think he is. Incredibly kind, humble and high spirited given his current condition. His quotes in the gym are a constant reminder to push and keep positive at all times. The guy is just an absolute treasure of a human. The guy has completely destroyed his body in the pursuit to be the best body builder in history and in my opinion, he is... The greatest line I have ever heard him say tho, he was asked in an interview if he had any regrets about his training leading to how his current physical condition is, his response was "my only regret was not lifting more weight". YEAHHHH BUDDDYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
hard to argue against that, I guess all Olympians are the best in their era and it would be interesting to see how they would compete against each other in their different time and scientific era?, all with the same drugs, science and knowledge?, Dorian made the ''big'' new era, and Arnold really exploded the game for everyone, which is why Arnold is seen in such hi regard and why everyone talks about him, Haney changed the game too, Ronnie owes some of his success to these people that came before him, I think somewhere between Haney and Yates is the sweet spot imo, Ronnie was too big for me, does not mean i don't think he was/is not great , he is deffo that.
Here’s something that can change your way of life or thinking. This is the most important thing you will hear/read today. If you’ve told one lie, stolen anything, or lusted (which is adultery of the heart), you’ll be found guilty on Judgment Day and end up in Hell. But there’s good news: Though we broke God’s Law, Jesus, the prophesied Messiah, perfectly kept the Law, fulfilling all righteousness. He paid the fine for sinners ( that we could never pay ) by suffering and dying on the cross-absorbing the wrath of God that we deserve. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. Today, repent and trust Jesus; God will grant you forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. God bless God bless

You don't need bodybuilding Ed, your calling is Sumo. You will destroy the circuit. You've been training for it your whole life and not even know it. You have the ability to put Sumo on the map. Think about this seriously. Love you Ed. Big ups to the kid!🙏😤💪🤙🤘✌️
Ronnie was a power lifter before he was a bodybuilder. So he built his base off of using heavy weights. But what a lot of people don't remember is that Ronnie didn't make top 5 in his first 4-5 Olympia shows. And he even took a year off from competing to try to get bigger.
NIce dude!! Ronnie is one of the goats of bodybuilding! Would love to see you reacting to other strength related sports best moments as well alongside the memes..
The little sayings and sounds he does, when you think about them, really show what a superior mental game he had. All positivity, no time for doubt. Working hard but feeling mentally "light"
I appreciate the respect. The Beast knows and recognizes the ones that came before him. Ronnie is a hammer and always will be. Eddie is a beast and always will be.
Ronnie Coleman, a bodybuilder grand, His muscles were massive, his strength was so grand, His lifts were so heavy, His form was so steady, In the gym, he was king of the land
I'm extremely new to lifting - always been into more endurance based exercise. So far, I've found that traditional weight lifting (ie a couple of warmup set and a few "working sets") is extremely boring. However, making each set heavier than the last one and trying to match or better the rep count from the lighter set is the way to go. I'm not lifting heavy by any means - but in the last few months I've doubled the amount of weight I can squeeze 15 reps out of with my last set on several exercises and there's plenty of room to go further.
In my country we call this style "Pyramid". It is super effective to gain strength, step by step. I went from bench pressing just the bar, to 45 pounds plates in 4 months.
It's good to see the mutual respect between strongman and body building. Each has gone where the other couldn't just a few years ago. It's a real testament to the athletes in both disciplines.
A video came out with him and Arnold working out together the other day and Arnold said he'd finally found a good replacement for Franco in Ronnie. Almost made me tear up!
I legit give the ‘light weight baby” when spotting my buddies for incentive because we all know where it comes from and we all love it because it’s the Kings words
If Ronnie had gone the Strongman route instead of body building i really believe he would have been a multiple time WSM winner. For him to be that strong as a body builder is wild.
4:02 the most impressive thing besides ronnie being all low body fat here is that he brought the dumbells from his knees up to the press position with such control. that was probably half of the work right there.
Ronnies work ethic was 2nd to none... lifted heavy weights every workout, generally did high reps as well... and was also a full time cop while training/ winning olimpias.... he trained twice a day, ate 7 times, did cardio in the mornings sometimes evenings, at the highest level no less
Insane genetics meeting a lovely warm character contrasting with an absolutely brutal work ethic..! Recipe for greatnesss... Ronnie the GOAT! lightweight babbeeeeh!
Ronnie was indeed insane, and that's what makes him the best ever, but it's also what made him fuck up his body beyond repair and can barely walk today
Fun little factoid about the squat he did in this video, he actually didn't like that he didn't push more reps. what he did to make up for this (same day, mind you) is the infamous leg press pr he did. absolutely insane strength and physique.
