I'd have redistributed the funds differently personally, I'd of not got a Mac (id get a cheap xp laptop) and used the saved money to buy a higher quality turn table and pre amp and I'd forego the drum machine for an old rack sampler, - I'd search charity shops and gumtree and barter my ass off until I got me something tasty, an s950 or s1000 would be nice but if not I'd be comming home with an Emu 6400, or older Roland S. If I had any change I'd buy a soldering iron so I can always repair and recap my gear. Vinyl I'd get from lesser know charity shops. That's how I'd of done / do it. ;)

Nothing immediately comes to mind apart from if there's an issue with the grounding on the turntable you'll hear quite a loud buzzing noise coming through. If it's nothing to do with that then let me know and I'll see if I can help.

technics sl 1200 mk2 dose not have a preamp build in (i own 2) and i think the current models don't have it either build in. besides that the current technics are too expensive and little feature for modern djing in my opinion.
@ThaREC
@ThaREC 3 года назад
I've never owned any I think i just heard that they did (obviously not though). They do seem pretty expesnive for what they are but i think its many because early hip hop DJ's liked to use them and said it was a good brand

@@ThaREC if you ever want to upgrade your set up i would you recommend a super oem turntable. most of them are quite good. the reloop rp 7000 or the audio technica are nice. for mixer i would recomend native instrumenst z2 (with innofader) or mixars duo mkII (stock fader is ok but not Contactless ). but if you want a very good mixer mostly for mixing and a little bit scratching i would go with pioneer djm 450 (great effects)
@klauskillski3881
@klauskillski3881 3 года назад
@Jayo Delaware i would agree with you with the Mixars Uno. if you dont need dvs then the Uno is a good choice. and of cause Technics 1200 mk2 are the best turntable on the on the planet and never a bad purchase. but the super oem are very usable and they have more features. a lot of battle brakes release have a 133bpm side and for that you need a ultrapitch. a higher Torque is also nice. that are the two features that i like most on the super oem. build quality is not so good as technics but i can live with that. if you don't tour or play in front of big PA's the build quality is not as a big problem.

@@ThaREC nvm :) I think I’ve decided instead of getting the Akai Professional 61 key for 1900$ I’m leaning towards getting a record player and an akai live 2 for sampling I’m totally new to making music but I think this will be my type of beat making I’m very thankful for this video! Happy Thanksgiving!!
@ThaREC
@ThaREC Год назад
@@tyronelaces8690 If your brand new to making music then I strongly recommend rethinking spending almost $2k on equipment. For the first 2 years of me trying to make music I haven’t spent anything because I only used garage band until I realised that I really enjoyed and wanted to improve my music, then I slowly started to buy more stuff.

@@ThaREC thank you for the kind words. I’ve played piano for a couple years now. And I feel the live 2 will be a better fit for me than using these daws Since I don’t have time to master every instrument, I want to sample. I’m thinking of pairing the LP 120 with the Mpc Live 2(demo model for 950) But I’m wondering if the Live two connects directly to phono if I were to go with the Lp60(for the automatic control arm) Or do I need now an audio interface? Or mixer… I’m really a writer, I’ve been writing longer and more consistently than I’ve been using instruments and making beats. So I’m really trying to kick start my sound with some hand picked samples. CREATE MY SOUND
@ThaREC
@ThaREC Год назад
@@tyronelaces8690 Yeah makes sense, obviously you gotta do you own thing and do whatever you want to do, I was just thinking from what I did… I’d definitely go for a interface rather than a mixer, cheaper and easier to use; but you will need a computer to be able to run the interface

@@ThaREC OKay cheers man, i do have one question, where did they sample drums from in the 90s, did they just use drum machines, or sample it from drum breaks in vinyls or both?
@ThaREC
@ThaREC 2 года назад
@@dienamx6696 Both, and sometimes even doubling them up to give a sample a slightly different character. If you search up on youtube 'hip hop drum breaks' or something like that, I'm sure there will be thousands that you can get started with!

Quick question. I got almost identic setup. I run my turntable through preamp to mixer and then to my mpc500. I also have amplifier for my speakers when i play music from pc (pc plugged in amp, amp plugged to speakers). Is there any way i could connect my mpc (that is plugged in mixer) to amp that i plugged my speakers to ?? (I use mixer as audio inteface) and will it record to pc then ????
@ThaREC
@ThaREC Год назад
The only way that I can record my mpc into my computer is by running a cable from the mpc outputs to the recording inputs on my audio interface. From there, it’s all usb and digital so it records into the computer just like anything else.
@leongoodman5993

what cables do I need to go turntable to interface?
@ThaREC
@ThaREC 2 года назад
Usually just a lot of RCA cables, maybe a USB if your mixer has that feature
@NAGAYUTE
@NAGAYUTE Год назад
so if you can go from turntable to interface to daw then where does my sp come into play ?
@ThaREC
@ThaREC Год назад
Pretty cool that you got an SP! Same as how I sample into my MPC: I put the turntable outputs into a mixer/preamp to get it to the right levels and then put the outputs from the mixer into my MPC, for you obviously that’ll be the SP
