I live just around the corner from both of these houses! Since 1967, my father was a director, producer, and later a writer for 50 years and my uncle was a producer and writer! My whole family is involved in movies, and TV in some capacity! I was a film editor, but now I'm a musician full time! Love your videos Jordan! You know a lot for a young guy, and someone who is not a native Californian! I too am from Ohio, Toledo that is! My best, J.F.
Thank you for sharing your post honoring your relatives and their contributions to the movie industry . I had the privilege of taking an Uber out to the Baby Jane house. What a Blessing it is to live in that beautiful neighborhood. May GOD continue to Bless you and your music career 🙏
Just one thing you misspoke on in this otherwise great vlog--Bette Davis did not forgive her daughter as you stated. She cut the daughter out of her life and will after that book. Bette's former secretary has also written a book about her 10 years or so of working and being close friends. Bette is said to have carried the betrayal of her daughter's book to her grave. But she definitely did not forgive her daughter. That aside (I was a Bette Davis fan, so you'll have to forgive my wanting to correct the record) I like watching your vlogs. And seeing how you and Jah interact reminds me so much of how my dog and I lived. I'm happy you have a similar fur friend. Keep up the great work, Jordan.
Just came upon your CHANNEL and this is such a AWESOME treat for me. Your good at what you do and your charming personality adds to the delight. I love hearing about yesterday stars and I will be tuning in to see them all and hear their stories....its fascinating to watch you take us to these homes and historical sites, I do appreciate your effort and dedication...keep WINNING!
Enjoyed the vlog. Jah is as cute as ever. Thanks for squeezing in Judy Garland’s residence during the Wiz of Oz days. Nice seeing Victor Buono pix for Baby Jane movie location. I’ve passed by that Beverly Hills mansion during the Christmas season. They always go all out in their decorations and make you feel like a kid again if only for a brief moment. 🎁🦌🌲☃️❄️Lucky Jahster in getting all that “good food” afterwards. He couldn’t have asked for a better “dad” than you, Jordan. Thanks for sharing these moments with us. ❤️🙏🏻🐕🦺🎁
Jordan, Thanks for the Baby-Jane v-log...it was great...looking forward to the sunglasses. An added bonus was judy Garland's house was right next door....never knew that. You are a great presenter and I really enjoy our daily adventures together....Thanks again, Jody
I just started watching, and I have to say I'm really digging your channel. probably going to be one of my new must see. great job. excellent research.
What ever happened to Baby Jane. Loved it, so creepy! They were both so pretty in their day, just shows what happens when you get old. So sad really. My favorite Batty Davis movie was Dark Victory. Love old movies, thanks for bringing the locations to life for us and giving us background on the sets.
Loved the Baby Jane movie, that scene when the Victor bueno character is auditioning baby Jane in her home, as she sings"I'm sending a message to daddy" that look he gives her as he glances up from playing the piano spoke a thousand words with just one glance.....astonishing acting!
Nobody does "tension" anymore. Some of these old movies were So Tense. "Baby Jane" is a gem. Too much senseless jocularity in modern horror movies. As well - too much horror. Not enough thought provoking drama. These older movies made you think. Kept ya on yer toes. Now it's all laughs and/or gore. "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte" chills ya without having to bring on the chainsaw. And the dumb acting. This is why "Misery" is still such a great joy to watch: the Tension. Anyway.......thanx for showing these locations. Always a joy to see your vlogs.
The book was better. That was the first time I experienced seeing a movie after I had read the book. I had always heard people say that, but understood it after seeing the movie. It was still good, but amazingly, the book was better. I know many people would not go see Lord of the Ring because of that reason. Well, my husband did and was very pleased. They have come a long way in the cinema.
I love the look of Judy's house and somehow I feel there should have yellow bricks leading up to it. In the UK we have blue plaques on former residences of stars and important places, its a shame they don't do it over in the USA. The Baby Jane house was magnificent too. Loving the videos and have just subscribed.
Wow ! That was so awesome !! I just watched the movie about What happened to Baby Jane about two weeks ago . I was sitting here trying to think what was that about when you first mentioned it . Then to get to see the actual house where they made the movie is so awesome !! It's exciting to get to see all three houses that are famous . Thanks Jordan for sharing this ! I get so tickled watching Jau giving you all of his sugar . lol !! He's so cute !!
The Gumm house is lovely. I didn't expect it to be that lavish. Perhaps it wasn't at the time, but a great house. Now that is an interesting house of the Hudsons. In the film it looked more eerie somehow. What a find. I know the film well. I can see that the side gate is not the same. I love old Hollywood movies, so this was interesting to see. Great days. I didn't know that about Alice Cooper and the makeup lol.
Only watched this today, as catching up from the beginning. 286 subscribers now grown to 72k after 2 years, wow Jordan, I bet your chuffed to bits, it's all paid off. Well done 👍
Jordan, I want to compliment you and your videos. Very well done, informative and creative. Kind of answers a lot of questions I've always had about these stars, their private lives and tidbits of information I've always wondered about..
You had said Bette Davis daughter wrote a book about her mom as well as Joan Crawfords. They both thought of their mothers as bad in their eyes. I love these old movies....just like, "Mommy Dearest."...."no more wire hangers." Another impressive vlog. ..can't get enough
I love Judy's former home. The architecture is beautiful. Wow, to have this house right next door? Wow!! I have only seen bits & pieces of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane," but not the whole thing. They are beautiful homes. Isn't that Bel Aire? And yes, she was adopted by Joan Crawford. Did you know Christina still does talk shows? Oh, and try the V8 Caribbean Greens. I never thought I'd Ever touch it, but it's really good. And I'm a Diabetic on Insulin, and it does not effect my blood sugar either way.
Very impressive Jordan! I so enjoyed the info. about Judy, Joan and Betty! I've seen Baby Jane, several times! There was a movie out about the characters in that movie! It was good! I loved the decorations for Christmas! Yep, it is Jah, approved! lol 👍❤👍
When you did the vlog with Scott Michaels and the tour, the Baby Jane house was in it and I believe that Scott said that William Peterson, the star of CSI, the tv show, lived in that house. Too cool. I LOVE Judy Garland's house! Looks like a gingerbread house on steroids!!
I'm catching up with all your videos , they are great . I hope you are feeling abit happier now and have found somewhere to live what makes you feel more at home x
Unrelated vlog comment. Kudos to Jordan for vlogging about things he thinks are interesting and hopes that we will respond to. I had previously watched his video on Rowdy Roddy Piper. I was never a wrestling fan and knew nothing about this person but Jordan’s enthusiasm was catchy and I found it so interesting. Now tonight I was watching TV and a doc on Roddy came on A&E. I watched the whole thing and had tears in my eyes. He really was a unique guy. My heart aches for his trauma. ❤️
Hi Jordan, Love your content. Hope you are having a beautiful day. Whatever Happened To Baby Jane is one of my favorite movies of all time. And I'm 35 years old and love old movies so much though they were made before i was born. Classics are the best.
wow how neat. this house looks like a big mansion now. but originally this style was built wide and narrow. if you look down the drive way you can see how the back half was added on later. this would have been a 2 bedroom 2 bath upstairs and kitchen dining room and living room down stair. an impressive facade but really a house smaller than it appeared. there is a house similar to this perched on a knoll in Silver Lake far more impressive setting. I was desperate to buy it but it wasn't for sale. That house had red clay tile roofing and the exterior was painted white with bougainvillea vines growing up its sides. can t remember the address, it was years ago.
Joan was probably jealous that Bette had two Oscars and Joan only had one. In a film book I recall seeing the front of the house recreated on a sound stage with the director….so it’s nice to know they used both in the film. In the movie there is a scene where men are in a studio theater watching an old Bette Davis film and I got to see that film titled,”Fog Over Frisco.” In the scene where the neighbors are watching an old Joan Crawford film it was a movie titled,”Possessed.”
Bette Davis was credited for saying these things about joan: "I wouldn't piss on her if she were on fire" and "she has slept with every male star at mgm except rin tin tin."
Lovely video, thankyou for posting. Baby Jane, was the very first Bette Davis film I saw as kid one Friday night in a BBC run of horror films on Friday nights, as I was allowed to stay up late on Friday's, as no school the next day. I was hooked on her from then on. I have seen loads of her films and interviews, but my favourite era's of her are from the 50's onwards. Baby Jane is my absolute favourite though and I bought the DVD of it years ago. It was great that you showed this house as it is nowadays, it looks almost the same as in the film, don't think the tall hedges were there in between in those days though? Anyway, enjoyed it, but as a British viewer, we are a lover of euphamism's and when you said you would have to go and squeeze some juice out, it made me laugh so much I nearly spilled my gin. Ha!
Re: Joan Crawford's house episode - isn't that the one where she gave silent filmstar Bill Haines his first big decorating job? All white interior; his firm is still going in BH. He would be a great topic. Joan used that adoption agency down south that was mired in the 'stolen babies scandal' so just how she ended up with at least Christopher and Cristina has yet to be uncovered. The birth mother of her 2nd adopted child reclaimed that child so Chris & Chris could very well have been stolen children. Only the twins, who grew up with Joan after Christina had gone to boarding school, disagreed with Christina. Christopher who was there at the time fully supported Christina's version of events. Joan's hard-nosed character came from being on Pepsico's board, where she was hard-nosed. She had to be. But it was the last public version of Joan that people read about and is the one remembered. Unfortunately, that behavior has been mistakenly applied to her whole life and a lot of the questionable stories of her personality in her acting years were told with her Pepsico image overlayed.
Mrs Bates house was also used as Steve Martin's home in "Bringing Down the House" with Queen Latifah. Betty White's character in the film lived across the street.
I have been watching you for the past 6 months and I’m not sure if your still on the air! I love historic Hollywood! Thank you for my fix of film and movie stars info!
Oh I can't wait to see it. It's Ryan Murphy who is doing American Horror Story and the People vs OJ Simpson. The new show is called "Feud." Looks really good. And speaking of Simpson, can you do a vlog covering where this happened? I know the Simpson house on Rockingham is gone and I believe Mezzuluna has been renamed and Nicole's residence has been re-numbered.
Have you ever thought of doing Bad Santa film locations? Like the kids house in the film? It was LA, Torrence Santa Clarita and long beach. Maybe a Christmas special for your RU-vid? Maybe next year. It's a great movie
Hey Jordan, I'm a subscriber from Lake Charles, LA and know a little bit about the Houmas House, the residence where "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte" was filmed. Our family visited the home site, which is located up the Mississippi from Baton Rouge, but were not able to tour it, as it was occupied by the current residents as I remember right. It was meticulously preserved and looks just like it would have back in the Civil War days. I enjoy watching your videos and look forward to more. Keep 'em coming!
This purported “feud” will remain in old Hollywood lore for ever! They were just different kind of “stars” hailing from theater miss Davis -her preferred title- looked down upon Joan Crawford. Years after, when asked Bette mellowed a little, but reminded here and there her perceived “inferiority”.
The sound stages used for this Beautiful movie was absolutely amazing . The set decorators did a superb job. Please let me know if the movie was ever colorized later.
Saw this when I was 7 with older brother. My mom would just drop us off at The Bard in Louisville. We also saw a lot of Hitchcock. Then my brother would move to the other side of theatre. Scary
@@Mszahnclass95 Hey, I recognize talent!!! Lol. I find it fascinating you found this and responded! Jordan replied to Stan Ollie which is another screen name I’ve used. Thank you so much Angela!
Another great video. Baby Jane has to be one of the best camp classics of all times. Bette Davis should have won an Oscar! Your gay fans all love you. Besides making terrific videos, you are handsome and built. Let's see more of you shirtless.
Judy Garland’s house looks like the architecture of Berkeley’s William Raymond Yelland. Very similar to the Mildred Pierce (Ringe Residence) beach house of Malibu was very similar front elevation (a known work of Yelland)
a good discription of Joan Crawford that I think you were trying not to say, was one that I heard in an old 1939 black and white movie " the woman" "Theres a name for you ladies, but it isn't used in high society - outside of a Kennel" 😆
Thanks, Jordan. After a few years of partially watching this great movie, I recently saw the entire film. What a great movie. And I have always loved horror movies as well.
Are just wstching bless youre heart everyone should watch that film what everhappened to baby jane this place so beautiful.she had it hard in life god love her
Interesting vlog, thanks! Was laughing out loud at your dog licking you... the expression on your face- hysterical! I know it's a real problem, though. I'm thinking there has to be a distraction tactic other than snacks or bones... (or is this a way he has learned to get you to give him snacks? :-)
