WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ORANGE JULIUS?! | Double Toasted Bites - There might be a recipe or too out there to do the Orange Julius smoothie from dairy queen, and we may not have checked out the commercial during this nostalgia trip but while we were tlaking about McDonalds, we randomly remembered Orange Julius and the weird aspect of how they kinda' just ... disappeared! The home recipe I always used....or my mom did when I was a kid that I started making myself as an adult was as follows: 1 can Frozen OJ Concentrate (do not use fresh OJ, gotta go frozen) that's mostly thawed 8-10 Crushed Ice cubes (pre crush them yourself in a bag) 1 cup Milk (preferably whole as it makes it creamier) 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract 1/2 cup to 1 cup Sugar (white preferred but light brown is fine as well, amount used depends on your taste) Pinch of salt Place all ingredient in blender and blend at least 30-60 seconds (more if you have a cheap crappy blender like I do). Should serve either one glutton or 2-3 folks with normal appetites. It's pretty close to what I remember it being at the mall back in the days as a kid.

1 cup milk (whole, 2%, or skim) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 6-ounce can frozen orange juice concentrate 1/2 cup sugar (or sugar substitutes, check package for equivalence) 1 1/2 cups ice

In Canada, or at least my neck of the woods, Orange Julius is still around. But all the locations are paired with Dairy Queen. So you can hit up a DQ, and order orange Julius drinks and food there too.

As a kid in the 90s I loved em, so once I hit my teens in the early 00s, hanging out at the mall, all my friends would go to Cinnabon and Auntie Anne's but I always Orange Julius

After watching this, I got an Orange Julius for the first time on Saturday. They're still at the mall here (DQ). It was okay, but nothing special. I then tried amaretto and orange juice, and it was similar enough.

Try triple sec or contrieu liqueur. The mall in my town never had an orange Julius. So, the first I ever saw it was in another mall in long island new york. But I still never had one because it just never appealed to me.

The "Fry Guys" used to scare me. They were called the "French Fry Gobblins". I mean the idea of some hairy stringed critters, with just legs and googly eyes, going around stealing kids fries. WTF??? There's a YT'ber that loves "googly eyes", part of his schtick. He does does those "Let's Play" build your own nightmare whatever simulation games.

There is one left near where I live with Dairy Queen. I think the marketing was bad. I would see them in the mall and not know what it was. I thought it was fancy orange juice. Had I known it was a creamsicle shake I would have gone.

The one in the picture looks just like the orange Julius in the mall where I grew up. Remember they would ask you if you wanted an egg in it then throw a raw egg in there. They don't do that no more now. It's like egg powder

They had Orange Julius at Dairy Queen a few years ago. I wasn't that impressed with it. The only decent food they have besides ice cream is the chicken strip basket. I think their burgers are terrible! LOL

I've never heard of a Orange Julius. But then again I was never a fan of any fruit flavored cream beverage. Didn't like orange cream 'cicles or orange cream sherbert. I checked some of the locations and of course they are all in NJ area, at any local DQ. I guess wherever DQ's, such as upstate NY, or Penn, if they sell Orange Julius you'll get your Orange Julius.
