What Ever Happened to the Tahoe 5th Wheel?

IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! The 2003 Tahoe 5th wheel is being completed!!
I stopped by Cassone's RV to find Chad and Micah had torn a 2003 Tahoe 5th Wheel Toyhauler from cap apart due to some "delamination." Unfortunately I missed the before, but this is the more interesting part anyway. So now with the front wall "unwrapped" the estimate and repairs can start.
Again, this is why I recommend having the rubber roof ontop of the front and rear caps as I have seen this way too many times.

Very well done on this effective repair that was a way to save this 5th wheel from the scrap heap. As far as the front cap is concerned that is. It's also very cool to see how you approached this repair and kept it cost effective enough to make it worth doing. So instead of being retired/totaled out and scrapped/junked. The owners can now enjoy their 5th wheel with a well sealed off front cap that should last for quite awhile. Great as always my friend thank you for sharing and showing an effective solution to an issue that many 5th wheels and trailers end up having...

Wow. I'm dealing with a rotten Thor Tahoe as well. It's a never ending ordeal. I was just going to reseal the trim and ended replacing the face and the front roof frame. But BIG thanks to you for teaching me the best way to deal with it! This was super helpful! I was going to get some aluminum siding from Hemet Valley but instead I replaced the filon with diamond plate. It looks super.

@@AZExpert I need to reattach EPDM rubber front section on a Thor Tahoe. Most of the rubber still has thin layer of wood backing stuck to it, so it's like glueing wood to wood, but there are some exposed sections. I was wondering if Liquid Nails construction adhesive would work, or might it damage the rubber? I only need to do a 3' section and don't want to wait days and pay $76 for the Dicor... Do you think that would suffice? Or should I just get the Dicor or something else?? Thanks!

Hi James, Quick question. I am replacing the membrane on my 2010 5th wheel Denali by Dutchmen and once I got the old one off, there remains a very sticky glue on the chipper board. Not my preferred materiel but I suspect it's for cost reasons. Is there something that can be used to remove the glue or is laying down a thin plywood over it the way to go? Great videos BTW very informative.

At the top cap where the rail is would it be ok to fill in that rail with dicor self leveling. Seems to me it would hold water if not. I see a lot of people installing eternabond over it. Just curious 🤔

Another great job James. Sure looked like the rear cap section also has major water damage. Had a similar 33 ft Wonderer Transport toy hauler that I sold before any damage like this occurred. I knew it would be just a matter of time due to the poor workmanship of these trailers that leaks would happen just like you repaired.

Glad Hemet Valley Rv is still doing good things for the repair side of the industry. They supplied some 38' long aluminum sections for my old Rampage 5th wheel 10+ years ago. Is the owner of the Tahoe going to do anything about that poor rear cap at another time?

Hello! I know this is super random, but I'm hoping you might be able to help me. I work at an international dealership in Ontario. We currently have a 2012 Monaco Vista with a Maxxforce 7 in the shop that needs a boost solenoid, lines and possibly a waste gate replaced as well. Just wondering if you could shed some light on the easiest way to access the valley to replace these parts? could we remove the rad, condenser and all that to access it better? or should we drop the engine and lift the chassis? there's only about 6" of clearance as is with the support bracket above the engine. Thanks in advance for your help!

What is the average repair cost on a job like this? I am new to the RV world and purchased a fifth wheel from a private seller. Months after the purchase, I then found out why the previous owner didnt really put up to much of a fight when negotiating.. He had 2 pneumatic cylinders (one way). He mounted the two devices on an I beam. Rigged the air cylinders with return springs, a selector valve and a foot valve. We could curve angle aluminum and steel PDQ. All I have is the shrinker left

Money no issue. Do it. Because what I’m going to lose on trade-in then buying a new one or a used new one. Then all the new problems that come with the new or used one. I’ll be getting. With you doing the work I know it’s fixed and it will be a lot cheaper in the big picture I just said.
