Robin Sharma is a leadership expert, motivational speaker and an author.
Often we tell ourselves, ‘Once I make X amount of money then I’ll be free to enjoy my life. However, when we reach that milestone, the fulfilment we hoped for isn’t always there. So what is the key to finding happiness in life while also achieving material success?
Expect to learn the types of wealth that money can't buy and how to cultivate them, what true wealth looks like, how to ensure you are choosing the path that’s best for you personally and financially, if you actually have to become rich before changing your focus to other leisure activities, what you should be auditing every day to make sure you are aligned in life and much more...

I deal with a reasonable amount of wealthy to extremely wealthy clients through my business. I can say with confidence, that more often than not, they are miserable. If I had to put a number on it I'd say around 80% seem very sad and depressed. Most are trying to numb their pain with luxury items, in combination with alcohol, drugs etc. Many are on three or more marriages. It's taught me to be more appreciative of what I have, and to never associate wealth with overall contentment and satisfaction.

@@Boostlagg I thought I was doing alright and I drive a 13 year old car 😂 In all seriousness, I totally get your point, but I think that there is likely a happy medium where you're above poor and below very rich. It is however going to be different for every individual. I don't think some people know how to handle the lifestyle of having too much money.

I have been at both ends. Kicked out at 18, homeless 3 years, welfare 4 years, until I got my life together & got where I am now.... Money has made me much happier, I can actually do things & buy things I want now. Unless a person experienced both ends, their opinion is invalid. No "thing" will make you happy, it's what that "thing" does for you...... this applies to everything, not just money.

Robin kick started my journey into self mastery/improvement about 6 years ago. Reading the 5am club, implementing his 20/20/20 formula. His work is amazing. To hear him again and the way he speaks about beauty, craft, and generosity is so refreshing and was a great reset during the week. I was looking forward to this episode! Thanks Chris for getting this together. “A bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul.” Incredible.

Having more than enough money would allow me to reshape mine and my family’s life and allow us to refocus our attitudes towards life, generosity, curiosity, exploration, while having that security that as a man, I look down on myself for because I somehow just cannot keep up with the increased costs growing every year. I work so much that I miss out on important moments in my son’s life, yet every week I feel like I’m barely treading water financially. So sure, seeking money to the extent of essentially greed will not make you happy. But having enough money to take care of basic financial security to be able to live a fulfilled life and seek true happiness, I believe that’s true wealth.

Something clicked inside me, when Robin was talking about coming from the place of generosity vs scarcity. In that moment I realized that I probably have enough, while always empty handed and empty hearted, dreaming of more. Very important moment for me, never happened before, that realization, that my way of seeing things makes me deeply unhappy.

Love the line of conversations you are pursuing. In its higher form. It's less about answers and understanding. And more about personal engagement/invocation. A PT session of a kind. In that, it's a wait for those wide eye moments. Or just present and attentive....dropping a fishing line in the water and ..... Then run with that. When get a bite. It's spontaneous and truthly authentic....when the student is ready...the moment will present itself. Verses "buying" or looking for an off the shelf DIY manual. A discipline born out of curiosity. Verses climbing other people's mountains to try and recreate the feelings we are chasing

I can't think of how to frame this without it coming across as just selfish and lazy, but I simply don't want a job as such - all I see with the majority of jobs is people spending 40+ hours per week doing something they don't want to do, unable to find the time or manage their time to do the things they want to do like paint or read or a new game came out or whatever it may be, because their job has drained them. My mum recently retired and she's done retail her whole life. My dad has been retired for a while but has had a few jobs; mechanic, welder, HGV driver. I have never seen them echo an overall positive sentiment about what they've done, they just done and they were constantly tired and now they're too old to enjoy their retirement. Those who are self employed have even less spare time to actually enjoy hobbies because what they do requires so much time and effort. True wealth to me is not needing to work.

A questioned you fulfilled not working? For myself I didn’t have to work right away after finishing school and had all the time I wanted to myself. For the most part I have been very miserable when I didn’t have work to focus on. Of course you World Wang your work to be as fulgí Long as posible but even doing sone work that was not my Dream made me feel Like I was contributing to something and not just sitting around. Can’t just do nothing all the time, if you get bored you will want to work.
@MGShadow1989
@MGShadow1989 2 месяца назад
@@moritji6090 - I can only speak for myself here but I'm only bored when not able to do a thing I want to do, like at a doctor's appointment and just sitting there waiting. My dad is currently in hospital and it was only 2 allowed to a bed, so while my mum and sister were seeing him I was in the waiting room bored out of my mind - no signal where I was so couldn't even distract myself with RU-vid or whatever - didn't think to take a book with me, hindsight. I don't find myself being bored at home, either I'll read a book, paint or build some Warhammer, watch a movie, or for the most part I'm gaming. I'm not doing nothing, I'm enjoying hobbies and interests - so it's fundamentally selfish, but it's also influenced by how tired and miserable I've seen people regarding work. There was a guy in my class at college a few years ago complaining about boredom on his day off - I found it odd because it suggested to me he has no hobbies, no interests.

Happy is a dumb word and it doesn't actually exist on any real scale of time. Validation is what humans seek. I'd Give Respect to him he's one of the few writers who have several best selling books over 20 years

I am highly requesting a podcast with Erwin McManus. Erwin has a lot more original thoughts, not as trite or full of quotes and cliche anecdotes as this guy.

Nice guest, but it felt like a collage of feel-good vibe Instagram videos of the Covid era full of "buzz" concepts; Italy, Zen... etc.. Sorry. I'd run if the guest talks about WWII/Hitler, Greek Mythology, Romans, Japanese manners...so inbred. Looking forward to Monday.
