Agree 100%. I don't like Max's 'yield or we crash' driving benefitting him time and time again, but until it's actually consistently punished I can't really blame him. He's just doing what works, and it's what worked for Senna and Schumacher before him. The way Formula 1 is stewarded has consistently rewarded over-aggressive driving and I don't see that changing any time soon.

He was an absolute brute earlier in the year , right up until he had no more points to spare before getting a race ban. The rules would have finally had an impact on the sport (and to a lesser extent, finally did have an impact). Instead he's backed off and hasn't been going anywhere near as hard with elbows out, and hasn't received anymore penalty points, so hasn't received a race ban yet. (There is plenty of room for discussion on FIA / Steward ruling consistency) As for Norris being punished as well. If he should have been punished , he was punished by his race being over and having a DNF, and may or may not have access to all the upgrades that he had last week, at this weeks British GP. (I most definitely follow the sport).

In his statement he acknowledged dive bombing and said “sometimes it works”. He never said he was above it. He meant if you do it you have to consider all the consequences of doing so. Lando was in a hurry to get past Max so he could create over a 5 second gap. He was pushing very hard. Not sticking up for either driver, but that needs to be said.

I think the only reason everyone is on about this is because not much has happened up to this point really. It's good TV to stoke the flame a bit for the drama of it and make the next race that much more tantalizing.

And how many times before that had Max done exactly the same? Max forced the crash, and Masi, no doubt under orders from Liberty Media to save their investment, started making up rules as he went along. Max can't race his competitors fairly, he rammed and swiped Riccardo when they were competing for top dog at RBR, and did the same to Lewis for the WDC. He then had 2 seasons of no competition and stupid peope said 'look, he's changed' but now he has competition again, just like most knew, he's back to ramming off his opponents.

I'm glad to read at least one decent comment here. I'm sure Lando has learned a lot with that experience. Race conditions, against the World Champion, fighting tor the win. Adrenaline must have been pumping ! I'm glad aboput what I've seen on the track. Sure Max wasn't 100% innocent and clean on that one, but it's better than dirtier ones in the history (Jerez 97 is the first that come to mind). Anyways, it was fun to see some action. It's time to move on though and see what's gonna happen next weekend.

Max does it every time to anyone, he can't help it, he's traumatized by the parental abuse he received when he was overtaken as a kid karting. I felt Peter Windsors video on the race was objective and he brought up some valid points that I hadn’t thought about. The rules are the rules and in my opinion the FIA had dropped the ball and are partly to blame for not informing both drivers of rule infringements.

I agree. Oscar holds maturity and calmness that norris doesn't, and i feel that in some way, as many others have suggested, his cool demeanor is going to benefit him greatly on the track but his race pace and inexperience is weighing him down

Ehhh. When Lando pushed Max off the track last week there was no penalty, Max did get a penalty for the same. When Peres drove around with a damaged car, losing parts on the track, he got a penalty. Lando didn't get a penalty for the same this weekend... Need I go on???

Rules in racing that force one driver to leave an opening for another driver to gain the advantage are absolutely insane and delusional to me. It is on the skill of a driver to utilize their own abilities and experience to get past another drivers defense/offense. Overall the collision and puncture are nothing more than an unfortunate racing incident. Really sucks Lando had to retire though.

Max moved to cover the inside to stop Lando dive bombing and sacrificed the racing line on the outside, so he pulled to the outside to block Lando. Lando didn’t yield and Max just drove into him

The track narrows on the outside leaving Norris the option of using the rumble strip but he chose not to do that.. since Max didn't turn into him the cars touched. The inference that max turned into Norris is wrong and max should have started turning into the corner but clearly didn't. On a track limits warning Norris had nowhere else to go.

Do you not think the anti-Verstappen aspect comes from Max's history? If Norris had been as reckless and ruthless in his breakthrough seasons running people off the track and moving under breaking, then he may too be seen as more accountable when incidents like this happen.

Shame he's not being dealt with the same way, Schumacher got banned for some races and DSQ'd in the championship. His crash with Hill in 94 is a bit more debatable, he'd damaged his steering hitting the wall and it was at the next corner he crashed with Hill, so whether that was deliberate is less cut and dried.

Yeah he got a black flag for exceeding track limits which gave Lando a 5 second penalty. Verstappen also did the exact same thing on the same corner as Lando overtook and did not receive a penalty even though he retook his position back of the track

@@driverszone893 the penalty was because he exceeded the limit of track limit infringements for the whole race. The last one just happened to be while he was racing with Max, but the penalty itself was for that plus a few others off-camera while he was catching. Max didn't get a penalty for overtaking off the track because he was only off the track because he was forced off (a decision that afaik in recent years has only ever been used then and on lap 1 of Abu Dhabi 2021, but tbh I think it's fair if they consistently apply it...which of course they don't cos its the FIA who am I kidding)
