Interesting but couldn't possibly be as efficient as a hub or mid-drive motor. I'd worry about how fast the Rubbee wears out the rear tire and how much less efficient it would be when the tire is wet (& slippery).
I own one. Definitely a big waste of money. Breaks on every ride and then overheats and shuts down. The wheel on it already warped after 4 rides. It's a great concept but needs a lot of changes to the design and way more testing. After my first ride I wondered if anyone actually tested this thing?! For the $800 I paid I could just buy a full eBike that works much better.
Are you sure it's a good design. Reminds me of something Mr Bean would come up with on his day out. Think about what this is it's using a pulley to try and move the top of the tyre.
I had a massively bad experience with Rubbee X. Took me months to get a refund for a non-working product, and after a dispute with my payment company, they refunded me my purchase price minus 23-percent! "Wear and tear" on a product that only lasted for 75 miles.... shady. Buyer beware!!!
The review part could include more about the technical engineering on how the friction is increased to make sure the little wheel does not slip. Also, there could be a part where you describe more about pros/cons. I like in this gadget, that you could detach it, so when battery is empty, you could ride without any extra breaking from the motor (which is the disappointing part of my Bosch Performance CX e-bike). Overall, it appears to be a great addition for a fixed tail bikes. I doubt it would work on my full-suspension MTB bike, but if it would work on it, I would definitely would love to try it. Great job, Rubbee!
So the crank shaft has a Bluetooth sensor sending technology? Is the battery in it like AAA NiCAd? How fast does tread wear down back tire, or front tire? Is there like an alternator/generator built inside the rubbee x unit-so it powers the recharge thru pedal assist? (So you dont have to charge the unit so many times-infrequently?)
Less than underwhelming! My rubbee motor started running uncontrolled on my 3rd time out. No way to stop it with the power button! Before you buy (or rather not), watch: @ . Also, the range is way shorter than they claim.
Hi Jean. Any more news on your experience with the Rubbee? I'm considering getting one, but would like to hear more about your experience with it. Thanks for any more information you could provide.
Rubbee is the currency they use in India.............LOLLLL..........can't believe you got an Indian guy to try it out. Anyway, love the design, it's very cool, specially it's made from free Lithuania not commie China!
@@CyPk2077 According to the OP, it is waterproof, not resistant. There is a major difference between the two. Resistant means that eventually, who knows how long, water will get in and damage it. Waterproof means that water cannot get in and damage it.
I agree on the shape - if it horizontal all the time it would look so much better (like when its loaded on the bike but not lowered to the wheel). The extras give you some extra speed (32 instead of 25kmh) and its a better range, if I'd buy it - I'd get myself the extra battery though! Thanks for sharing your opinion!
Brilliant video 😎 This is amazing idea can water go inside it from the tyre 🤔 The sensor that you cable tie to the pedal arm is that rechargeable, and the pickup sensor I'm thinking of buying one for my mountain bike I like the fact you can switch it between bikes by buying another seatpost fixing 😀
Hi ! Rubbee X is made to be waterproof, the electronics are fully potted, but just to be safe don't use it on completely submerged roads. The sensor uses a simple CR2032 cell, it's easily replaceable.
This is way more than it is worth. You can get an entire wheel hub motor setup for a lot less and you don't even have to pedal it. I just converted a $98.00 Walmart, single speed coaster brake bicycle for $211.35, using all new parts except for the battery. I got an untested battery from Jehu Garcia for $35.00 plus $16.00 and some change for shipping. The hub motor is also a lot faster. Even though there may be instances where this would be a "Quick" fix, the price is just way too high. Not cost effective at all.
Hey Ceb! yes, it goes with 2 batteries. But we recommend buying the third one to make it go faster (32kmh with three batteries instead of 25kmh with two!)

Absolutely not recommended product, I bought it to have an electric bike when I come back from abroad, every time I find the battery of the pedal sensor that runs out, I change it and it doesn't recognise the sensor, and then the app to update, and then it works for 5 minutes and then it goes in a loop, and then I change the android smartphone and try ios and there are other problems. In short, I've wasted about 900 euros on the kit and extra batteries. The button to hook the motor to the wheel is hard and the plastic around it cuts the thumb, a plastic riser would be enough to solve the problem. The screws underneath are at a 45 degree angle and difficult to unscrew, the extra batteries difficult to release. So many things that put together make this kit bad. I have learnt that these Bluetooth kits are a real mousetrap, the promises are many the facts very few. The next ebike a wired model and without a capestro app!!!! In general, I am sick of buying all these connected and overconnected products that do nothing but complicate life.
@@Rhaman68 It was recommended to me to check it out. So I´m here, and I see a young guy on a road bike using an electric support and I don´t get it, that´s all.
