I was at work but we were allowed to pop outside a few times to check out the eclipse and I also noticed the calm, the shade, and experienced that same surreal feel. As usual I was amazed with my Creator and thanked Him for His awesomeness.

Watched from our front yard ..... in the 100% totality path. It was strange to see it dark in the middle of the day, no wind, temperature drop and all. At totality some mourning doves chirped and a hoot owll called. At the totality there was a bright spot at the bottom of the sun - later I found out that the bright spot was actually a solar flare. Got to watch the eclipse with my mom who recently turned 100 years old. We were thinking of my uncle and great aunt (mom's brother and aunt) who shared April 8th as their birthday. They had shared April 8th as their own heavenly birthdays on Eclipse Day 2024! ❤❤❤

We watched the eclipse from our yard. My granddaughter did exactly as the boys did; laid right out in the yard. We experienced 94.3% totality. The crickets were chirping away as if it was actually dusk. The temperature dropped as well. All very interesting. LOVE the shofar!

I work at Science Central in Indiana, and it was pretty exciting to watch the eclipse! We had large telescopes to look through, and had outdoor kids crafts for the public to enjoy. Was a fun afternoon, while experiencing the eclipse. A few of us blew shells which sounded a lot like your shofar when the eclipse was at its peak.

We listened to the sound of the Shofar. Then we read from my "Morning Watch with Robert" Devotional the text from the 7th day of the Old Creation about the first Shabbath and the 7th day of the New Creation of the New Yerushalayiym, about the day in which we will finally enter into His rest. We prayed to be conduits of His Word and His Spirit in order to bring light and life to a dark and dying world.

We had a spectacular total eclipse in central Indiana. It was a once in a lifetime event. It was amazing to see the moon passing between the sun and the earth slowly till the suns rays were totally blocked out. Everything became still and quiet. Just right before it happened the birds had been chirping and singing loudly and fervently then as everything went totally dark the birds stopped their singing, it became eerily cold and the outside lights came on all around the house. The Majesty of God was very present. It reminded me of when Jesus died on the cross and the stone was rolled across the tomb but then 3 days later up from the grave He arose with a mighty triumph over our foes. He arose a victor from the dark domaine and He lives forever with His saints to reign. He Arose. He Arose. Hallelujah Christ arose! Beautiful moment!

South Central IL here. We got to about 93% totality. We watched through our glasses while we were putting our garden in. It definitely got about 15 degrees cooler. Birds quit chirping and the doves started cooing like they do at dusk. The sky was bright , but like you said Mike, it looked like there was a filter on everything. Was so cool. When the moon started moving away from the sun, the birds started chirping again. Was really weird but awesome at the same time. God is the ruler of the universe. Amen!

In Virginia I didn't bother because it was less than yours. But in 1978 or 79 there was a total eclipse in Hood River, Oregon and it was awesome. I lived right outside town where all the orchards and farms started so there were lots of farm animals and dogs around. That time of morning it was usually the dogs that made the most noise be cause of all the humans running around starting their day. When the eclipse started it was pretty quiet, no dogs no insects. Of course, all 3 of the west coast states are very quite on bug noises compared to the East Coast. The only way I can sleep with my window open at night is to have a fan going by my head to diffuse the sound of all the bugs out here . Another thing with a full eclipse is the visual distortion that starts at about 50% and continues until probably between 95-98% and the comes back from the 95-98% down to around 50% or so before it goes away again. For me it looked something like a heat wave coming off the pavement in the heat of a summer day except it was everything. I am a wimp when it comes to balance and movement so I had a bit of nausea and a lot of vertigo, hanging onto the ballaster for dear life. But that wasn't the best thing about it. We all got to come in late to work that day partly so we could all watch the eclipse and partly to wait for the tourist to start leaving so we would have parking spaces since so many people had to sleep in their cars since we only had 1 maybe 2 small motels. Hood River had been announced on the news as the best place in the country to see it. The best part of the eclipse was the people. I worked at City Hall and while people were usually polite they weren't always happy to come in to pay parking tickets or didn't believe their water bill should be as high as it was. But on that day I don't think there was a single sullen face. People were happy and if course everyone was asking if you had seen it. If I ever have the opportunity to see a full one again I would definitely want to do so around other people just to bask in the happiness of everyone.

We had a quiet day. Our eclipse was more than yours, we lost enough light that it looked like dusk, a ring of the sun around the moon. I was startled when the moon moved away as very suddenly we went from dusk to bright sun. I have been learning about the eclipse being God calling for a time of repentance., so we had been thinking even more about God than usual, & we always think a lot about Him, but we were admiring Him even more that weekend.

Although we could not experience the new moon eclipse visually in Italy, I decided to go outside and get around some people and nature at the peak of it. No birds were chirping. No wind in the trees. It was like a serene yet strange quiet rested on everything and everyone like a soft mantle. People were going about doing their business but quietly it seemed to me. I could definitely feel the eclipse's effects. And let me say that Italians are rarely quiet. When I first moved here, I was in the grocery store and every now and then a woman near me at the shelves would start talking to herself out loud. As I didn't speak the language at that time, I had no idea if she was talking to me or what haha. I have now learned this is what many Italians do. They talk their thoughts out loud, not always of course, but often. Anyway, God bless you Mike and family. And Happy Jewish New Year. And in 10 days we will have Passover. Baruch Hashem Adonai! 🙌 The Lord bless you for blowing the shofar.🌷
