Very nice. Just as a side note, although the region still lacks high level athletes and teams, 1999 was the year when Brazil started a domination in Americas' group RG in the region that lasted 16 years. From 1999 to 2011 they won every group gold medal in the Pan American Games and only in 2015 they were beaten by the U.S.A in one of the group routines

Very interesting! I didn't know 1999 was the year for Brazil. I was thinking to talk about Brazil when they qualified for the first time in groups in 2000 (in preliminaries AND Final which a real accomplishment) although individual took part in 1992 and 1984 OG before. Next time I will try to talk more about Pan American Games and Championships!

Anyway that generation rocked, such charismatic gymnastic like Kabaeva, raskina, Teodora, barksukova, serrano, Vitrychenko, Pavlina, Cid...the CoD was really different and not perfect (not a, all) but i missed during 2001/2016 the absence of really really really really strong western gymanst who could win medals

Brilliant edition👏🏼 .Rhythmic gymnastics has changed so much, positively of course. It has revolutionized a lot since then. Just to mention that many coaches are still in the national teams. that is incredible.

I love this videos!! So much history. That 1999/2000 ribbon routine from Kabaeva is still one of my top3 favorite ribbon routines. And Barsukova!! What an amazing story! Those high releves from all gymnasts!!

FANTASTIC video! l'm just getting to know this sport after watching regular Gymnastics for 45 years! These girls are _spectacular!_ That Kabaeva Girl is SO pretty, that its distracting! l've noticed the sport used to be more intricate, and have learned that it has to do with Russians being so unbeatable! Thank You Clematis!!

Amazing video as always. Thanks so much for all this work. I remember Osaka WC as it was yesterday... I was obsessed with Eva's hoop routine, especially this really crazy catch at the end (she missed it at Berlin WC in 1997). Great tribute to Pavlina... Such an interpret and great technician

I think everybody loved that catch by Eva, so sudden, right at the end, marvelous! Pavlina was a lovely gymnast, I remember not understanding why she was retiring, but reading interview, she was really tired, poor her!

I had someone calling me an ignorant on an Instagram comment because I said that artistic gymnasts weren't as flexible as rhythmic gymnasts. That's ridiculous, these athletes do actually a lot of contortion while artistic gymnasts don't.

After researching more on this topic, I realised how all of them bullied Vytrychenko and wanted her to leave. If you take a close look on Barsukova lost the rope at Sydney 2020. Plus viner did not like her abd did everything to lower her marks. Its interesting and sad at the same time.

That comment about Deriugina style is too true. I started following RG about 10 years ago and it seems like they recycle music as well as movements. Godunko was the only Ukrainian gymnast that had a very distinct style. Pure power and energy and not overly sensual or balletic.

I think the fact that they have one family of choreographer (Irina Deriugina and her mother, and her daughter) doesn't help; it's like they fear to go outside of their boundaries and to lose everything they built so far.

We had so much fluff in 1999, the hug between Vitrichenko and Kabaeva was priceless. 7:20 is clearly ''who to hug'' scene and problem ahah. You can indeed hear a lot of reaction from the public in the Osaka footages.♥️♥️ Kabaeva's ribbon used 2 different music: Dilorom by Yulduz Usmanova and Yor Yor by Shahzod.

Can you do a video on Evgenia Kanaeva 2008 ribbon routine? Please explain what made it the most difficult routine.

With the 2008 Code? It was a very difficult routine considered the number of difficult pivot (backscale, ring without help...) but also pivot with change of shape that had a bonus (compare to Bessonova's routine for example).

When looking at rhythm gymnastics, I feel like it didn't advance one bit. The movements are still the exact same. When you look at other artistic sports like gymnasics or skating that are totally different from 20 years ago, it seems weird.
