There is a huge likelihood that it was. I honestly could not comprehend how bad the officiating was in this series. BUT!!! Donaghy is not the best person to believe when talking about this, though his statement is the only tangible proof that it was really rigged. Cannot trust a person speaking out of spite.

Once again if Ray saved his legacy, Paxson and Kerr saved MJ… 91 Lakers had Magic and Worthy injured pretty much the whole series lmao and when Magic was playing, Scottie was the primary defender. Fisher and Horry has saved both Kobe’s and Shaq careers as well 💪🏽

Not all #1 teams all created equal. I think it's far more meaningful to look at net rating than wins or conference standings. Some years, the team with the #1 record only wins 54 games. Other years, it's 67. That's a huge difference. Win-loss record also doesn't tell you HOW the teams are winning the games. Are they blowing out good teams? Or are they squeaking by all the bad teams? Net rating is far more predictive of playoff success. If you take this year's Celtics out of the equation, which I feel is fair because the playoffs haven't happened yet, eight of the top 10 teams in net rating have won a title.

I think its important to add that the regular season record is very indicative if you will even make it past the first round, the higher-seeded team almost always wins but as the playoffs progress the regular season win percentage difference between the teams obviously decreases. So I wonder if the seeding matters more or does the actual win-loss percentage, and how many games a team is separated is indicative of who will win a playoff series. In all I would not be surprised to find out most of the time a number one team lost it was to a team that wasn't far off in the regular season record

Net rating is a far better measurement than conference standings. Not all #1 teams are created equal. There's a big difference between a #1 team that won 57 games and one that won 67. Also, sometimes a team may be sitting at the top of their conference but actually have a worse net rating than the teams behind them. It just means they won more close games. There can be a lot of luck involved in that. If you look at the teams with the highest net rating in NBA history, they win the title more often than not. Taking this year's Celtics out of the picture, which I feel is fair because the playoffs haven't happened yet, eight of the top 10 teams in net rating won a title.
