There will be more videos to come in the future, and since I'm off of college for the next few months I will have a little more time to write, record, and edit more videos a week. Probably time to start prepping to make a new version of this video called: The Rise of Kansas Football. Lance is making massive strides and we will be bowling in the 2023-2024 season, guaranteed.

Technically they went undrafted, but Bradley McDougald and Chris Harris played at KU.

Its crazy. The basketball program at the University of Kansas is among the elite in the NCAA. But the football program at the same University is beyond terrible. I feel bad for the players snd and fans. Those fans who still show up for football games each year can honestly say they're true fans. I'd like to see their football team get out of the NCAA dungeon some day. Just to become consistently bowl eligible with 6 or 7 wins a year would be a huge improvement. No one stays down forever. Schools like Baylor, Duke, and sometimes Vanderbilt are examples of that being true. They used to always have losing seasons and be last in their respective conferences. But every now and again, they show signs of life and make it to a bowl. I won't be expecting to see Kansas win the Big 12 Championship any time soon of course but I'd like to see them get 6 or 7 wins and actually go bowling within the next 5 years. And dare say, even pick up an upset or two over a powerhouse Big 12 team like Oklahoma and Texas. Stranger things have happened and anything is possible. Dare to dream. Right now, just to be mediocre would be a huge improvement at Kansas. If Baylor and Duke can do it, so can Kansas.

Just subbed man great content! You should do the rise of Kentucky. It's been a wild ride for UK fans lately. We went from a pass heavy, defense lacking team to a run based offense with O lines full of maulers and good D. Also identifying a lot of high potential players like Josh Allen, Lonnie Johnson, Benny Snell, etc etc etc.

The downfall of KU football? That title implies that they were on the rise or a perennial power. They had a good 6 year or so run under Mangino, and now they are back to where they will almost always be.

It’s amazing on how Kansas football have been this bad for a long time. They’re like the Cleveland Browns of college football.

Of all the coaches i think Gill was without a doubt the WORST. He had a full roster when he arrived, Lots of support for football after an Orange Bowl win 2 years prior. He had everything to work with. Then he goes out and an option team (Georgia Tech) drops 66. ZERO reason for that to ever happen. He was the beginning of the end.

The former AD and Clint Bowen deserve a lot more blame than they got in this video. Even the former Chancellor of KU deserves a lot of flak for what she did to KU football. Chancellor BGL- She didn't give two shits about athletics at all and let them suffer for years. She blew hiring the AD before long because she wouldn't allow more qualified candidates to use the private jet without restrictions. Thus led us to the idiot himself.... AD Zenger- This man was completely clueless as an AD and never should have been allowed to run a D1 school's athletics. He was the only one dumb enough to take the job with the rules BGL put in place. His biggest screw up had to be KU's new Rock Chalk Park. After it was built, he basically gave the company that did tens of millions more just because they asked for it. Instead of a very friendly deal, KU will now be spending millions for years. Turner Gill- This man was only hired because he was the exact opposite of Mangino. They wanted a super nice guy that would kiss your ass instead of kicking it. There was absolutely no discipline within the program during his two years as coach. Players were flunking left and right. They were constantly breaking team rules and so much more. KU could have even had Harbaugh but the AD before Zenger refused to let Jim coach in Stanford's bowl game. This was before they blew up with Luck. This all led to Zenger's firing him and hiring.... Charlie Weis- The laziest piece of shit you will ever meet. He came in and immediately kicked out all of the players that were flunking or violating rules. This naturally led to the huge hole in the roster that KU is still trying to dig out of. Weis tried to fill in with nothing but Juco kids and transfers to get some quick wins. The asshole was just awful in every single way. He literally couldn't even be bothered to wear pants in his office....WHILE DONORS WERE VISITING! He just sat on his fat ass and laid a blanket over his lap. . Bowen- This leach has hung around KU for far too long. He has been the DC for the worst Defenses in the entire country. How he was allowed to be the interim is beyond me. Likely because he kisses the asses of the top donors better than anyone. Only he thinks that a CB giving a 10-15 yard cushion is a great idea. Beaty- There were only two possible candidates this time and they were Bowen and Beaty. Both were guaranteed to be coaching KU no matter who won the HC job. The hiring process was rigged from the start by Zenger. It was supposed to be a committee hiring the new coach but Zenger made sure he really picked the new one. Only Beaty was given a face to face interview. Everyone else had to do it over skype. Beaty was even given the questions before his interview while no one else got them. They praised his recruiting ties to Texas when he was hired and then that fell flat. The HS coaches in Texas knew better than to even talk to him. So this all led to him chasing some quick wins like Weis did. So in came another class full of Juco kids. That led to 3 wins and his firing plus Zengers. That is all pretty much the short story of why KU has been so bad at football. Luckily, KU now has a new Chancellor that loves athletics in Girod. A competent AD in Long. Plus a coach with a National title under his belt. We Jayhawk fans aren't asking for National Championships. Consistently making bowl games is all we really ask for.

Hello Jason. I too would like to join as a subscriber. Your work is informative and enjoyable. Although after watching and listening to the narration of your video on the KU football program, you should know that I'm not one to live in denial. Kansas Football has painfully bottomed out and is hopefully headed for better times with the hiring of Les Miles. I noticed from your narration that you mentioned a number of discouraging statistics about the KU program (around 9-minutes worth it seemed). I will offer you this thought: the University of Kansas Football Program does NOT...and I repeat NOT...allow the kinds of recruiting shenanigans that other powerful college football programs allow, i.e, enabling, encouraging, wink-wink, etc at wealthy alums who are told about a targeted recruit and then use a point-person/persons in order to contact that recruit's parents and then arrange a wire-transfer of $$ into the bank accounts of those same parents so that they will then persuade their son to sign a letter of intent with that university. It's been going on with other colleges for a long LONG TIME! So, since your reporting efforts are centered on college football programs (and they're well done, I mean that sincerely), then why not do some investigative reporting into the activities of the various alumni associations, i.e, the shadowy folks who conduct the necessary dirty business of recruiting for their beloved alma-maters and how those schools perennially have strong teams who comprise the top 25. You will probably conclude that the NCAA tends to look the other way on recruiting violations when they involve schools that generate big TV ratings & advertising/sponsorship dollars, etc, so much so that the most blatant offenders probably won't ever be held accountable. Now THAT...would be some compelling reporting Jason! Keep up the great work.

Since Les Miles got there they have improved drastically. They still need some work but they are definitely bowl eligible with him there.

Les Miles and Jeff Long’s scandals made this worse, current coach Lance Leipold and AD Travis Goff can turn it around beating Texas hopefully helps kick start something.

What can I say? We're a basketball school. But it would be fun to have a football team.

Kansas football is a product of a decade of massive neglect and mismanagement from the KU AD, resulting in 3 garbage hires in a row. Those failed hires led to failure to coach and recruit, which further led to a team consisting of low talent, quick fill JUCO recruits who in no way at all compete at the D1 level. To those saying David Beaty needed more time, no way. He was the pinnacle of our ineptitude. Miles is finally bringing in quality recruits that hopefully will develop into competitive D1 collegiate athletes. Only time will tell, but its a guarantee that it will be 2 or 3 more recruiting classes before we look like a true team again.

As a K-State fan I honestly do hope KU’s football program improves. I’m pretty dubious about Les Miles though, I can’t see him doing much good there.

Yes, miles was able to recruit well at LSU but was world class at wasting talent. One yr. LSU sent more players to the NFL than any other school ( including alabama, of course ) and finished 16. As a tiger fan who closely monitored miles when he was at LSU I can tell you he is an unmitigated disaster as a coach. After he took over after nick sabin he was fine... even won a national championship by capitalizing on sabin's talent and his residual coaching effects -- then reality hit and he slowly but surely went downhill. In 2012, playing bama for the title, he couldn't even cross the 50 yard line. The jayhawks are about to find out just how bad a coach can actually be with miles at the helm. Evidently kansas did not research miles the way the should've and are now going to really suffer.

You need top talent players to be really really good. A great coach will get destroyed if he has lousy players. A lousy coach can ruin great players.
