Salute to everyone that's requested this guy. Enjoyed putting his feature together. Thank you guys for being patient. I know...20k My story is being worked on. Coming soon. Until then, who should I do next!
Yooo another nice one! Keep up the good work! You should do my guy from UConn, Rashad anderson. Since I'm pretty sure you did his lefty point guard, Marcus Williams.
It's a shame the NBA values potential over performance which forces many kids to leave early before they're ready. And under-values the experience that juniors and seniors bring to the table. Not everyone is a one and done or a two and through player.
The comment about Roy Williams was a bit absurd. His job is to win games and putting Marcus Paige off the ball to let Joel berry run the point gave the better shooter more opportunities to make open shots. Roy and Marcus were both in tears on his senior night when Marcus thanked Roy for making him a better man. Also Marcus got drafted in the second round so what happened after that had absolutely nothing to do with Roy anyway. He cares about all his players and their futures. Do better.
Yessssssss my favorite college basketball player of all time I’ve been waiting for this video for sooo long... To anybody that’s watching this remember y’all, Keep Going & Be Safe 🤟🏾💯
This is the perfect example of not seeing the big picture, I believe when you see instances like this they and they’re family are getting big time payola from these schools to stay to benefit the program and that money blinds these players and fam from the big picture which is generational wealth. Dope content
Ok, go find Marcus Paige and ask him whether he thinks Roy cared about his future; I guarantee his answer would be an emphatic yes. With all due respect, I think you're just flat-out wrong with that claim that all college coaches only care about their program. I'm sure a ton of them do, but Roy wasn't one of them. With Roy specifically, it's public knowledge that he gave his honest opinion to the players about their draft stock after every season, usually with a recommendation to leave if he thought they'd be a first-round pick. As a fairly recent example, Roy told Coby White he should leave after his freshman season. Coby is on record saying he never intended to leave after one year.
Yeah, Roy cared deeply for Marcus...Plus, part of the reason MP's numbers dropped a bit is because the team around him improved and he didn't have to score 25 every night like he did his sophomore year. By his senior year, Brice was an All-American. Joel Berry had greatly improved and was a very reliable scorer. Justin Jackson was an All-ACC player. Kennedy Meeks was a double double guy. So UNC's offense was WAY more balanced at that time, not solely relying on Marcus.
or even udonis haslem like what, the old ass mf dont even play he just wanna take up a precious roster spot just so he can sit on the bench like just retire already
I'm a huge UNC fan and I really like Paige but I don't blame Coach Williams for how he used him. It's the coaches job to try to win basketball games, not guarantee a players spot in the NBA.
good video...he was one of my favs back then. He was nice with that sweet J. that 2016 NCAA Final is a classic. can u do adriean payne and denzel valentine?
Dante Exum? Man, I remember trying to convince myself he was actually gonna be good. Never seen it in his game. ESPN "experts" were comparing him to Kobe 🤣
Yeah that dude is easily one of the biggest busts no one talks about everyone mentions jabari and wiggins from that draft but exum has without question been way less impactful than either of them
My favorite UNC player. Paige was a promising point guard, but had to take on a scorers role after PJ Hairston got suspended his Sophomore year. He was the only player on the team that could create, thus his sophomore scoring numbers jumped. Dude was a MONSTER. I feel like he drew so much attention on defense he picked up alot of little injuries that led to shooting slumps. He got moved to an off ball shooter role because Joel Berry arrived and UNC needed an SG. I think the move hurt his draft stock. By the time he graduated, he was two years removed from playing PG. Not good for an aspiring NBA point guard.
joel berry pushed him off the ball, not injuries. Paige was better off the ball than Berry so it made sense from a team standpoint. More firepower around him and injuries led to a dip in numbers
Yeah....I love homeboy, but he doesn't mention the fact that UNC's team was so much better Marcus' last two years, especially his last year when he had Brice Johnson, who was an All-American, Justin Jackson who was an all-acc player in 2016 and the ACC Player of the Year in 2017, Joel Berry, who was another All-ACC player who would win MOP of the Final Four the in 2017 and Kennedy Meeks, a double double guy. So yeah, as you said, it really was the injury and the team's improvement around him the lead to a dip in numbers
My man, I love your channel, but you've neglected some key facts here. Part of the reason Marcus' numbers dipped his last two years is because UNC's team around him was so much better. His Senior year, Brice Johnson was an All-American...Justin Jackson was an all-acc player (who would win ACC player of the year the next year), Joel Berry was a double digit, reliable scorer and a future All-ACC player, and Kennedy Meeks also averaged close to double figures that year. So UNC wasn't reliant on him to score 20+ every night like it was in 2014. Also, Marcus LOVES Roy, and there's no way he would say he didn't care about his development. Point is that when Marcus got hurt his senior year, Joel filled in very well for him and was better on the ball, and Marcus was better off of it. But had Marcus not gotten hurt, he still would've played PG primarily.
yes man! I suggested Page as well in previous comments. The guy had a sweet jumper and was an incredible leaper. I still hoop with 1 sleeve rolled up sometimes just as Page did with the one-sleeved tshirt
@@AndreaBaixinho he dunked on gtown center. Can even try to spell his name. It was sick. I'm from Toronto and would be in Blo often and run into and a few other blo hoopers. Leonard Stokes, Darryk Jacob's they all from there. All HM guys
MP was definitely my guy as I always state I'ma Tarheel fan.. dude handles and jumpshot was next level just didn have a whole lotta heart.. but I do believe he coulda played a jamal crawford lou williams type 6th man role
I’m Tar Heel fan and I agree he should’ve left his sophomore year but he loved college basketball. Also getting drafted by the right team had a lot to do with it too. And you questioned his heart? Lmao man you couldn’t watched Paige career while he was at North Carolina lol. He basically carried them his first 3 seasons and mostly his last year there. If he would’ve left early, it would’ve given him a better chance to stay in the nba longer because the team would’ve gave him more time to develop being a first rounder. I think if he would’ve been a tad bit faster it would’ve helped a whole lot. He had no problems finishing at the rim and could shoot on the top of anybody. It was just bad timing of going into the draft for him after staying to long.
Because you americans think that there is no life outside, soon be, ununited states. He is playing his 3rd year in Partizan Belgrade, club that gave so many know NBA players(,like divac, danilovic, pekovic, bertans, lauvergn, paspalj, bogdanovic and many more).Marcus,he is our hero.He is symbol of loyalty! He is famous in Europe every body knows who he is. We call him sniper.
He never struck me as an NBA player. Average athlete and undersized. Staying all 4 years didn’t didn’t hurt him, IMO. His numbers went down because the talent around him got better. Steph Curry was an elite shooter with elite handles, and Curry was a way better scorer.
He plays for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Partizan. And last season he was far best player in team. He will be one of the best players in Europe in future.
As a UNC fan we were spoiled by Tywon Lawson Ray Felton and Kendall Marshall. Paige wasn't those guys; he maxed out what he was IMO. P.S. a lot of NBA points were 2's in college. Kirk Hinrich,Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis, Jay Williams Stevie Francis so on and so on all played the 2 in college to make room for a traditional point and to make use of their offence. Coby White is a 2 by trade but played the point at UNC. Your goal has to be first get to play than shine.
he definitely should of left after his sophomore year. Always wanted to see him in the league being he was from CR and I’m from CR. he’s been known about since he was a young kid around the town
I only had one issue with this video and that’s the criticism of Roy Williams. It’s not his job to get players to the league, that’s on the player. It’s his job to put the best product on the floor for UNC to be successful.Marcus was a scorer coming out of high school,Roy made him look better at running a team then he actually was which is why he handed the keys to Joel Berry immediately Marcus’ sophomore season. When u look at it the 2012 high school class was just a terrible class for talent period really.Shoutout to Marcus tho,UNC for life.
How you not gonna go commit to the draft after dropping 17 at UNC tho come on your main goal in basketball should be going to the league and providing for your family not staying in college with 0 dollars in your pocket when your done
He should be in the NBA. He knows how to see the floor and WIN and he's a pg 100%. This a perfect video bro because dante exum and he's not good at all. Great video
Undersized, lack explosion, strength. Very good college player. He never looked like he got stronger, faster etc over his 4 years. He played off the ball a lot on Joel Berry came. Might have hindered his PG talent. Very good college PG. Appreciate this one SG. Crazy thing UNC had several guys on this team that flamed out NBA wise.
@@themansince do you se the modern NBA pgs? Outside of CP/Lowry both who are older as a starters they are almost all over 6'3, super athletic... save Trae Young, but he is special..Paige isn't.
@@aaronhutchinson885 That is a bs excuse! There are a lot of point guards that are 6'2 or smaller. DJ Augustin, Isaiah Thomas, Ish Smith Jeff Teague, Lou Williams, Dennis Schroder, Mike Conley, Eric Bledsoe and so many more! 6'1 is good height! Height doesn't matter in sports! As long, you are good! Who cares about height!
I LOVE MP.....He really was the perfect college player, but I never really saw a prolonged NBA future for him because of the reasons you mentioned. It's interesting because I actually thought he played pretty well off the ball, not having to create as much. In Paige's case, I never thought he'd be an NBA star or anything like that...maybe a solid backup. But, he did get a taste of the league, which isn't nothing, and has been ballin' overseas for a while now, making a lot of money and such, so I'd say that overall, things are OK for Marcus
At least he's still making money overseas.. Don't understand why he was switched to 2 GUARD.. All the GREAT point guards in NBA history, from John Stockton, to Magic, could score from anywhere on the court. Why was he not valued on the same level??
I’ve never liked UNC, even when Jordan was there, because I’m a Maryland fan. This guy should be in the NBA, though. He has more talent than guys like Thabo Sefolosha.
