Your flower blouse is absolutely STUNNING! I’ve watched your videos for years, really like most all your tops, but THIS ONE is GORGEOUS! I’m sorry you and Jerry have been sick! Seem you’re on the mend! Bravo!
I also follow 'Catherine Sews'. She is now making a bodice sloprer and she just finished making a pants pattern from her skirt sloper. Yes she is a teacher possibly in Canada.
I work in an ER. We have a positive Covid or 2 daily. Most others that test negative are told they have a URI (upper respiratory infection or bronchitis which is fancy terminology for a cold). From what the lab experts say is that the positives are accurate. It's the home covid tests that are more questionable if they come out negative and you are having symptoms. Home tests are a different type than the PCR (DNA) type we do at the hospital. PCR's are so accurate, it can pick up covid DNA for up to 3 months. So yes, you can test positive without symptoms, but you had it in the last 3 months at some point. And Joy, you are correct - it's a much different Covid now than it was in 2020/2021. The cough can last up to 6-8 weeks. It's annoying and there is very little that can be done. Tessalon Pearles work for some and not others. It's a crap shoot. I wish we would stop testing for it other than in critically ill/comprised patients. It's a COLD. We don't get all worked up for a cold, but attach Covid to the cold and OMG some people go nuts. And the swollen things in your nose are called turbinates. Keeping your Vitamin D levels up over 50 is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Get a Vitamin D level tested every year with your annual physical. Shoot for a level of 80, but at least over 50. You have a good doctor! Sorry for the long post, just got home from work and couldn't turn off my nurse brain.
I love and appreciate your nurse brain. Yes, it is just a cold and those things are called Turbinates. I take Vitamin D with K2 (?) every day. My blood tests fine so far. My nurse daughter said the same thing you did.
Even though I've been sewing for 60+ years, I have learned so much from Catherine Sews over the past year or so. You are right--she's awesome! However, Joy, you win when it comes to keeping us entertained and laughing!
Your flower blouse is absolutely STUNNING! I’ve watched your videos for years, really like most all your tops, but THIS ONE is GORGEOUS! I’m sorry you and Jerry have been sick! Seem you’re on the mend! Bravo! …oh….fat stripes.
When I sew curved hems - I put the hem in before the side seams. ANOTHER TIP : I run a gathering stitch 1/2" from the hem at the curves. Adjust the gathers at the curved areas until it lays flat - press in place and then turn up the last half of the 1" hem press and voila! a perfect hem Good luck
My hubby and I got Clovid last spring for the first time. We were so sick. Took us a good month to get over it. The brain fog was the worst! So glad you guys got over it too. I absolutely love your cat quilt! Your blue top is just lovely!!
Glad you're back! You are a whirlwind even with Covid. My two cents: I think the blouse looks better sleeve band down. Hope you're better with each day.
I know there are many other youtubers out there to watch, but I so look forward to seeing yours, Joy. I learned so much and feel extra happy after seeing your videos. Please keep them coming ❤
To convert the skein to a ball (since i live alone) - I turn a four legged chair on it's back and carefully open the skein to a circle and wrap it around the two higher legs and carefully start winding into a ball. It takes patience to do it without tangles, but simple if not in a hurry. When I buy at a yarn store, I ask if they will do it on their contraption for me.
I haven't been feeling too good for the last 2 months and my endocrinologist is so wonderful she told me do what I'm doing now which is more natural path because it's really helping
I am glad you are on the mend, I was beginning to think something had happened to Jerry given his health concerns earlier in the year. I have had Covid once and boy it knocked me about. I know families at the school where I work that have had Covid 4 and 5 times yet I have only had it once. I agree with you on the shoulder sizes, If I get bigger I often need a bicep size bigger but never a wider shoulder. I can not crotchet for love or money 😂 I just don't understand the stitches no matter how many RU-vid tutorials I watch. I hope you and Jerry rest up and feel much better real soon 😊
Love your videos! I love hearing that you don’t want to take a bunch of pills! We’re better off without them and we have to be diligent to eat sensibly and stay busy. I have to make more time to sew!
So sorry you have been sick Joy! No fun. But you do look pretty cute today if it’s any consolation!!! 🌸 Especially like the stripes on your sleeves. Unrolled with the fat stripes of course...
Love your beautiful top! So pretty. I have had long covid since Oct. 2022. It's stupid. Can cause so much side problems. Praying for you both to have a quick recovery. Blessings
Oh, boy…I’ve commented several times and now you show up wearing Peggy Sagers pattern in blue and white V-neck, short-sleeved top (in front of mirror and sailboat quilt). This one beautiful on you! So flattering!
So glad you and Jerry are doing better. I sure hope COVID is not making a comeback; I've heard of so many people getting it lately. I've enjoyed watching your videos for years now, both for the quilts and garments. You are blessed to have such great spaces to enjoy your crafting. Thanks for sharing your life through threads and fabric with us.
Joy! I just love the cat quilt. You are a wonderful friend to Viv… maybe too good! And even more precious to the cat kingdom because you made such amazing tribute quilts to your cats despite feeling luke-warm about cats! I AM IN AWE!
Thank you. I really did love our cats, but I don't sleep with them or have a cat box in the house. Ours were always in at night in the garage in their cat area full of toys and climbing things.
It’s always a joy to see you Joy, I hope you’re feeling much better. Your makes are beautiful and the cat quilt is a work of art, just beautiful! My husband likes his tv programmes so I watch You Tube on my iPad with my ear pods in, it works for us lol.
Howdy, I love the new tops. When you held up the grey or blue triangle fabric, I was not sure if I would have bought it. Then you made the top & I love it. I do love the pattern. Thank you for sharing your time with me. I love the stories. So happy ya'll are feeling better.
I love the new blouses!!!! They fit you perfectly. You just need local tv so just get an antenna and then do a search on your tv and you will get quite a few channels, like old westerns, and other really old shows but then you will get all of the local channels. It's free. Sure hope you feel better soon, i really miss you.😉
Oh joy I truly enjoy watching you in here creations you have me laughing so much I am cracking up😅 keep up the good work I enjoy seeing all your beautiful blouses and material that you bought ❣️✂️🪡🧵❤️💖💗
Joy I love ❤️ that blouse, love the blue it's lovely Definitely you should make it again Always enjoy your videos Thanks for taking time to share with us Take care
Joy, I figured the You Tube you were describing might be Catherine Sews. I tell you, she put out a video entitled "The Perfect Pocket for Beginners" that I was all over and will use that method to make pockets on pants from now on. Makes adding pockets very easy.
Love the top! Has my favorite colors. I would three thread overlock the hem edge and stitch witchery a narrow hem. Then top stitch the hem with a regular machine stitch. The stitch witchery stabilizes the hem. Glad you are back!
Love both your blouses. The blue one looks especially lovely on you. I like the sleeves down with the wide strip better. It looks very pretty on you also. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to hear that you are recovering from Covid. I love that blouse that you showed with the coordinating pants. I also like to use Kona for my pants and shorts; I'm fortunate that my local fabric store carries a wide range of Kona colors, but I do have the color swatch.
Love that new top you have on. The print placement is just perfect! In years past I knit and crocheted some. Have always wound yarn into a ball in my hand, then round and round the yarn onto the ball of yarn you're making, 'til you're done with the skein. Easy-peasy. No contraption needed. I wouldn't waste my money or space for that contraption. The sleeves either way is good, but I prefer them down. I really really love the mountains you made and also with the snow. I suggest you make a couple more same or similar and overlap them across the width of the quilt, the way mountains actually look. It will be stunning. You should be able to watch what ever TV channel you want on your computer. You just have to figure out what stations they are broadcasting on and then access that. That's where I watch. All our local San Antonio stations can be found on You Tube.
I love your new top. The fuchsia fabric looks like cranberry to me. I like the sleeve down. I saw the blue Peggy fabric and loved it. The blouse is terrific.
You know what that was back in the day when you used to have somebody actually hold the yarn tight why you would wind it up so if you want Jerry to do something have him hold his arms out so that he can hold the ends of the yarn tight while you make it into a ball
That’s exactly what I thought. I usually rewind pull skeins into a ball just to make life easier. Whitney on TomKat stitchery uses bias tape on curved hems instead of turning up the edge.
Love that floral top and black pants! Rebuke covid and its symptoms in the name of Jesus! If you need a break from making videos, by all means, take the break! We'll be here when you get back.
JOY that blouse you have on in the beginning of the video is gorgeous on you. You look so pretty in that outfit. The blouse and black pants were lovely. And I love the cuff down. I loved the blue and white blouse with your jeans. That outfit was perfect on you. I’m so sorry y’all had Co-Vid. I thought that was all over with. But my daughter & her husband got it also. This strain of the sickness is different and when you said it affected your ears, it has seemed to do that to most that have gotten this strain of Co-Vid. So stay safe. Love ❤️ you JOY. So glad to see you again
Hi Joy it’s good to see you and I’m glad all is well with you and your family I love the cat quilt it’s so beautiful . Keep speaking the word of God over your body. Isaiah 53:4,5/ Psalm 103:15, 107:20 blessing 🥰😇
Joy, you are a hoot and my day is always better when I open up You Tube and you are there with a new blog. Sorry you have not been feeling well. I was wondering if in your next video you could show how you take that tuck in a sleeve to tame down the size. Thank you for keeping the videos coming. That cat quilt is something else!!
I loved the blouse you made using Peggy Sager's pattern. I do have that pattern and had forgotten about it. I will pull out some fabric for it and make it this weekend. You always inspire me to sew, quilt, and crochet. A friend told me Babylock is coming out with a new top-of-the-line sewing & embroidery machine in August with a price tag of $30K!! I can't wait to see it!
Wow Joy! I love that top you have on! And I prefer it with the wider stripes on the sleeves (rolled down), since you asked.😉 That blue and white print top is really cute on you too, fits you so well and the tuck in the sleeve is a nice detail that compliments the pleat in the front. I hate big wide short sleeves, they remind me of scrubs. Hope you’ll be back again soon!
It’s good to see ya Joy! I love your new garments😊. It’s great you’re getting through Covid so we’ll-I was much sicker-but I survived and after about a month I got back to normal. Will be looking for your next video.
So happy to see you but sorry you have Covid. I had it this past winter twice and it's not fun. Take care of yourself and get alot of rest. I also did Edyta's spring sew along but followed her directions. Love how you are going to do your mountains. Wish I could be that creative lol
I am so sorry that you, and Jerry got Covid! You look great by the way! I can't believe that you are running around, doing anything! I would be in bed! I love the gray and white top, that you just made! You are simply amazing!
I love the gray print blouse you made. It looks great on you. I love the colorful blouse with the strip edge on the sleeves. I am glad you and Jerry are recovering from COVID. I finally recovered from the Flirt COVID. I wear a face mask at work on the work days so no one becomes infected and this will continue for the remaining time I work outside of My home. I enjoyed your video and I look forward to your future videos. Have a great and wonderful day!
Love, love, love the new top. I would wear that in a heartbeat. Like the fat stripe down. Praying you feel better soon. Love that blue quilt behind you. Cat quilt is really cute. My daughter would love it.
Glad you are on the mend. Prayers for you and Jerry. Love that blouse. How about a button and tab? If you have left over material with the stripe make the tab from that. It would look high end. Just another thought. 😊
