You have an unprecedented command of a story which is simply enthralling, a gentle but precise voice that overwhelms and encapsulates the listener . I’m an old man that has seen some awful things and quite simply unseeable in my mind and my dreams haunt me , you and your partner simply lift my spirit and your music made me cry for the first time in thirty years . I await the notifications eagerly and haven’t had the opportunity to say this for longer than my deteriorating memory serves me , , , what lovely and genuine human beings long may you prosper you have my love

Looking at 65 now, since childhood been out there sailing my whole life, thanks to my parents, all over, also managed to raise a fantastic family ourselves , who grew up on the ocean sailing as well, and who are fantastic ocean sailing/ world people themselves; but who are all off and away now. It's just the two of us again, like it was in the beginning. Oceania, once it fills your bone marrow, it never drains away. Nice to hear it truly verbalized In such a substantiated, genuine oceanic way. You've got it, Everything comes to those that recognize, reach for, and stay in the flow. Have a good life, forever.

Dear@@SailingMagicCarpet couple (especially Lady Maya this time). Uuuh, really!? Honestly, I blushed 😳 a lot while reading your kind words. Thank you very much. You might know that I admire you both. And if not you know now at least! :-) ;-) 2) Don't be surprised that I watch most of your great vids several times. I suggest that you watch them too to see how good and meditational/meditative they really are! ;-) :-) 3) I'm blown away because of the fact that you liked all my comments! Even the longer and the much longer ones??? :-) ;-) Sincerely yours. And here comes my usual and bearly to avoid postscriptum: To be completely honest: I have also watched those fantastic videos from channel Sampson Boat Co./Tally Ho/Leo Goolden several times. I could bet that you like his channel/work too. I definitely would love to see you meeting him (like you did with Simon). By the way: Mellie and Simon had been on vacation in Germany and made a trip to Festung Ehrenbreitstein in Confluentia = Cobolentz = Koblenz just some (20?) Kilometers away from where I live now (and only a few kilometers away from where I was born). Unfortunately I didn't know 'cause otherwise I would have loved to shake hands. Maybe next time (Aufgeschoben ist nicht Aufgehoben)!? Additionally Mellies parents live in my all time favorite German town Bad Dürkheim and M. + S. even visited my favorite place in Germany there (Klosterabtei Limburg). I was blown away to see this 'cause a long long time ago I kind of loved a red haired girl from/in Bad Dürkheim too. I'm a tall guy too, so it was a bit like a surprising kind of Déjà-vu therefore.

I started my story on an old and somewhat rotten boat one year ago. I fell in love with it. But I’m over 60 and didn’t find a mermaid to be with me on my first rides on the waves so far. May be sometimes she crosses my course in the Baltic see. Very nice video! Wish you all the best!

Hitting the like button just won’t do. I began following your channel at the beginning but retired from my job and moved to the Philippines with my wife. Back to her home town actually. We had no internet and have been extremely busy building our new home. Only in the last few weeks have I begun to catch up on your story. Magic carpet looks amazing and watching this mini series of your 1 dollar boat has been such a delight. Through story telling about a boat you show us not just a boat but life. Dreams, hopes, challenges and through hard work every obstacle can be overcome. How our lives are steered by events throughout our lives and making hard choices of what to do next have such huge impacts on who we become. Bravo young lady. Bravo.

22 years ago I learned how to sail at Wester Washington University in Bellingham. Last year I finally bought my first sailboat. Today I’m sleeping in a shop on the floor next to SV Gull-my Curlew. Installing an auto tiller and other upgrades preparing for a Desolation Sound trip for the spring. I’ll be forever grateful to Gull and the adventures we’ve had, and still plan to have, but eventually, I’ll be looking for a global traveler. I’ve just found your wonderful channel and am binging my way through. I’ve watched plenty of YT sailing channels making it through the long winters in Alaska. Your channel is an order of magnitude more special, bc the love you share for life and sailing. A joy to watch and dream of future trips. -Cheers!

A porthole closes and a hatch opens. The romantic flavor of Curlew and her "little heart that could" is never ending and still part of you in a soul that feels the nostalgia and quality of yesteryear with eyes on the prize of tomorrow. Write each chapter as if it were the first and the experience will never grow tedious and common. What dreams may come when you have shuffled off the mortal Magic Carpet one day for a catamaran or even a brigantine? Who can say? Fair winds and following seas.

I'm from Brazil, and a few years ago a friend of mine sailed along with his 02 brothers on 24-foot boat from Barra do Una (São Paulo's shore) to Miami. They did it in 100 days and wrote a book about it. A vintage boat from the 80's, not very diferrent from yours... Anyway, back then I thought they were crazy, but now I get it. Stay safe! Cheers from Brazil Daniel

So happy to hear that Curlew is in the hands of someone you know and someone you can trust. So her life can be extended even further, instead of in a hands of someone who would neglect her. As they say boats have souls that is why they are given names and they're referred to many times as " she " because they all have personalities, especially the old wooden sailing vessels, ones with loads of character.

You have a lovely storytelling style. I love your comment about earning a living being incompatible with living. Could you be the next Margaret Attwood? Now that would be good, especially as cruising & writing are very compatible. Shame it's so hard to get into, but it would be great if you could.

Dear Glenn Gutshall. I totally agree. I couldn't have said it better (but I usually do it with much much more words, sigh). ;-) :-) Best regards luck and health.

I just saw this video. Keep persuing your dreams. Stay true to your vision. I had mine when my youngest was 4. An S2 9.2c had it for 4 years, but had to much weight keeping me on land. I wrote you on another video , but just cant get over this one. God Bless you both.

This channel is amazing! Thank you for sharing your story, I've learned so much about boats, but more importantly, about the go for it attitude that I've been leaning towards for a very long time. Your philosophy is awesome and I'm looking forward to following your adventures with Aladino.

Wow... This is awesome! Such a story, such adventure, such romance.... all in seven minutes. I grew up in Howe Sound, and now, at the young age of 50, I find myself away from all that I worked for and love. I find myself planning to return to the sea, returning with a partner that has the same passion as I, and that is to sail and explore. I have not found her yet, but your story gives me hope and inspiration. It’s great to see you younger people get outdoors and see natural beauty. Thank you for being such a great story teller, it moved me... Bryan from Gambier
