What Happened To Pasote? 

Doug, that is a very articulate statement about the plight of Pasote. I'm actually invested in this change because NOM 1579 Pasote was my absolute favorite 80 proof blanco. I will give the new tequila a try, with the mindset that it's going to be altogether different, but hopefully still a palate-pleasing, well-made tequila.

I have only been able to find Repo and Añejo of the old bottles. Great stuff. Definitely agree on giving it a shot.

My wife and I discovered Pasote blanco from 1579 about a two years ago and were hooked. We were thrilled to find it at $19 per bottle in Sarasota this past January! About three months ago I found a Pasote reposado in the new packaging and, of course, under the NOM. It was good but lacked some of the richness of the blanco.

Thank you for addressing this, I love Pasote at NOM 1579. The taste and smell was just perfection. The old bottle is artwork I’m gonna miss it, I’ve collected as many with the old artwork as I can. Hopefully the new distillery doesn’t disappoint.

Found the old bottle from NOM 1579 yesterday and couldn’t believe it. Now I don’t want to open it. May try to find the new bottle from NOM 1579 and try that one. Thanks for the video and the info

Couldn't agree with you more on the bottle. Whoever advised them on changing the bottle, made a huge mistake. That was one of the classic bottles, that not only looked great on shelves but tasted great. Also, pretty telling they dissed you on appearing on your show, seems like pretty bad decision making from top to bottom. Hope they do rebound though, as you said. Good stuff, very informative.

I’m still holding a bottle of Nom 1579 Pasote Blanco and Anejo. I can’t come to open them knowing that most likely won’t be replaced.

Very curious as to how it will differ from the current excellent juice.

I picked up two blanco’s of 1579 just in case the new distiller is too… IDK, less than spectacular? There’s more available but no more of the repo’s or anejo’s (insert sad emoji here😢). Very curious about the new 1584 and will wait for the reviews to come in.

Doug, Just tried the NOM 1584 blanco. I want to echo a comment from the Tequila Hombre, which is the absence of the rain water had yielded a richer node and taste. I get more anise and some chocolate, but less minerality and citrus. So, Is it the same? Not quite. Is it still good, absolutely. kes

Honestly I hate to say it, but it's better now

I tried the new Pasote and i didn't like it at all, not bad but not for me. I never tasted the old nom so im just judging it on it's own merits.
