What happened to Pstar Zilean? Many ponder upon this question of a once legendary community member, but delve into the lore of PSZ to gain some perspective of his departure from the scene.
Rectifying some mistakes:
A person who want to stay anonymous has recently DM'd me with proof of his conversations on PSZ that has over 200 pages of screenshots. They date all the way up to early 2023 (March). Essentially:
- PSZ seems to still plays League on various accounts. However, he doesn't play Draven nearly as often as he did, and plays random stuff nowadays.
- He potentially started studying once he realised he had to get off his drug abuse at the end of 2019.
- The drug usage occured when he had zero motivation after achieveing rank 1 on EUW, then getting challenger on Korea, and after that he would have no motivation left for the game (around season 9). To continue playing the game, he used drugs to gain motivation. He said he would never have done that if he knew how bad it would become for him.
- PSZ's heavy drug abuse has hurt him a lot, seemingly irrepairable damage. He has always attempted to try to fix and find alternatives to remidy his health/brain. With perma brain fogs, and sometimes memory loss, he feels very frustrated about it - describing it as being "braindead".
- He went through several theories on what the issue was, including cytokines, histamine infection, electrolyte issues, Hypernatremia, etc but seemingly hasn't found a way - nor doctors have diagnosed him because a test showed that it wasn't anything serious. He thought that it was histamine but later on he wasn't so sure about that being the cause for his struggles.
- PSZ studied up until 2021, and sometime after he stopped studying and gave up trying to fix the damage of his drug abuse.
- He did say that he will quit League, work ar egular job and come back in a few years to see if his cognition is better, but never went through with it.
- He once said that he still plays league waiting to prove everyone wrong, and he gets tilted when looking at people saying he is washed, but the drug abuse really impacts his skill. For example, in season 12 he would play with 50% win rate in diamond 1, but during his Korean arc he was over 60% playing vs Korean Pros with good KDA.
- According to PSZ himself, he actually started playing in Season 1, so this 00:57 information is wrong. I apologize for not seeing this sooner.
