If you watch miraculous office au, you can see how well they could’ve written Felix if they just put time into his character development from cold to someone sweet in the inside but struggling to show it because of his upbringing. I personally think replacing him with someone that’s already "perfect" seems lazy.

No. Thomas just doesn't understand what character development clearly is. Had they just done a crush at first sight that slowly evolves into a more understanding love then the relationship could have worked out. Felix/Adrien is socially awkward/confused/ignorant with a manipulative parent. He is going through some grief and has a lot of stress which makes him stand offish to people and comes off as an a-hole sometimes, but slowly Mainette helps him understand everything and he goes from gloomy gus to a much wittier and kinder guy. A slow burn love, but it still definitely could have worked out.

I noticed that Mari was more innocent in the anime, more bubbly and easy going, Mari in the cartoon is an ordinary girl with low self esteem, but with caring family and friends. Idk

He gets his own episode in a story-driven show, and then he never appears again.

Sometimes I feel that Adrien's not Gabriel's son....Felix is...but maybe that's my thought.

The writers: we didn't use felix because it was too hard to make their dynamic likeable and believable. Also them: *make marinette an obsessive stalker because Adrien gave her an umbrella and expect us to believe it's a good relationship*

I kinda understand why they decided to replace Felix with Adrien: Felix's character. The whole brooding bad boy schitck is overused and would have been another example of the Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl trope.

I'm surprised the Felix was switched out due to romantic compatibility because in the PV he has such intense, classic shoujo love-interest energy. Though I suppose the show as a whole moved away from those animanga tropes when it switched to 3rd.

I honestly think the 2D version would have been MUCH funnier with the, “Chemistry”. I don’t watch the show, but now knowing that a 2D was SUPPOSED to happen, it makes me annoyed I couldn’t watch that. If they had just used, “Character Development”, They would have been able to make Felix a great love interest, although still stuck up and a bit rude. Also, I prefer the Anime style. ;-;

Honestly would've preferred Felix, he could've been brooding as Felix Agreste because of his responsibilities and then he could've seen being Chat Noir as a rebellious act against his father. He could've seen Ladybug as his partner in crime and someone he could be free with because their identities were hidden. If there was animosity between Marinette and Felix from the start it would have been interesting to see how they progressed from that point. Adrien as compassionate and clueless doesn't even think of her like that so things have been going stale. I would've much rather hoped they would work on Marinette's character and make her less obsessive and more aware. Plus opposites attract so I would have liked to see how they would go about that kind of relationship.

I don't think they put Felix's personality well, he is serious, responsible and spends most of his time with books (you can see it during the PV trailer) He doesn't even come close to what they put in the series...Does anyone else think that?

I always thought Felix had a tsundere/introvert personality and a good heart in reality but he hid it so he wouldn't get hurt anymore. I would've preferred Marinette realizing that Felix is a good person (after the umbrella scene) and tried to bring out the goodness in Felix, which slowly makes Marinette fall in love with Felix. Now it seems like the author Thomas Astruc is aware that the audience wants Adrien to be like the "Felix" I just described, that's why he purposely made Felix (the one in the current show) a bad person so the audience wouldn't complain about it anymore.

Pretty sure a huge reason as to why Felix was changed is because Thomas didn't want another Sasuke happening. The entire show's romantic dynamic would literally be Sasusaku. Sure it could've been handled well and frankly I would've loved to see a different spin on it, but I can see why it was a huge red flag of a tiresome trope.

Now that S4 is out… We get to see more of the personalities of the Kwami’s. The Dog miraculous has the exact same attitude with Felix’s personality. Which I can now see him having the miraculous now.

( Sorry it's long ) I personally would like to see what would have happened if Felix stayed as Cat Noir because in this foil episode I think Felix would have realized that he can't keep pushing away people in his life that care about him, because he would see that Adrien ( being the foil ) is either the person he aspires to be, coming to life( who is able to cope with the loss)or how other people wish he would be. ( Adrien being the " better" version of Felix ) who is kind and caring even after going through such a loss. PS. I like Mari and Adrien, but I feel like the show has not really advanced their relationship at all, besides some teasers. Adrien is still obvious and Mari still hasn't confessed I feel like they're going to rush their relationship at the end because they haven't started advancing yet, and at this rate, it's going to take years if they chose to take the slow route. In my opinion, Felix and Mari would have brought some *spice* to the table even if they clashed, like opposites attract. and FInally, I think Felix would be a great *complex* hero character because he's blessed with a power he doesn't really want, but that he learns to love.

Yeah, I remember when Felix was the actual Chat Noir and not just a side character or villain. His plot wasn't even bad, and if they really had a problem with him seeming like a "typical male anime character", they could have just given him character development!

I wish they kept Felix and that original dynamic. They could’ve had the show revolve around their growth as characters, becoming better people together and falling in love in the process after becoming more compatible. Their flaws may still be there just not as bad. They’d learn to love each other despite their flaws and continue to grow as people. The show could keep them dancing around the whole “are they together or are they not” for a while due to neither of them wanting to properly date since not fulling knowing each other would feel weird and revealing their identities would be dangerous especially with them being the main two. Of course at some point more hero’s would slowly be introduced so on and so forth. The show would end with hawk moth being defeated and all their identities being revealed to each other (not the public) leading to Felix and Marinate would confirming their relationship now that the two things keeping them apart wouldn’t be a factor anymore

I never ever saw Felix the way the show presented him in the actual canon. I saw him as cold but not heartless, he's more business focused but does care about others and more openly shows animosity towards Gabriel. I love him because of his tsundere personality. Marinette would fall for him by him showing a crack in his cold exterior and that he actually is a decent person and wanting to see more of it. But that's just me.

Theory: Maybe, Felix WAS Cat Noir in the show, but because he revealed his identity, it was taken from him, that could be why he doesn't like Adrien, because he is Felix's replacement.

As much as I like Adrien I would prefer Felix to be Chat Noir for multiple reasons. It would all of course also depend on execution but the way Adrien was executed as part of the story and how everything interesting about him gets explored very off-handedly or not at all makes me think Felix couldn't have been much worse. Most of my reasons are more story oriented then character oriented. 1. His civillian and superhero personalities are complete opposites. In the canon show they go for more of the two leads very noticably being the same person with the same personality, just more confident but I think that a more drastic change would be more interesting and it would show even more so then in canon show that the boy becomes freeer when he puts on a mask and in this case it would also imply his cold exterior may be an act or a defense mechanism or is conditional and that gives so much potential for character depth. The most noticable difference between Adrien and Chat Noir is Cat making puns and flirting which works but I prefer the formerly mentioned possibility. 2. The bad luck curse gives the usege of the miraculous some actual consequenses and ones that aren't bullshit and break the magic system's logic (although for that I would have to assume Marrinette has passive good luck, so again, the execution). In canon everything just seems too convenient and cosy when it comes to magic until the plot demands otherwise. The characters' superhero lives or elements of it having effect, especially negative effect, on their everyday life gives the downsides to the job which can create internal conflict, sympathy from the audience, struggles and emotional impact but most importantly it would cause the school and everyday segments not to be boring slice of life stories. I don't watch a superhero show for the normie school drama. Slice of life elements only matter to me if I already give a shit about the characters; they aren't what makes me like the character. Them doing and feeling and thinking about interesting stuff does. Or alternatively if the civillian and superhero matters are intertwined in a way which makes the hero stuff be the point and not an excuse to explore a bajilion side characters and their boring lives which will impact nothing in the long run. Also I just really love characters using powers in their everyday life. Marinette creating a vinyl using Lucky Charm to sabotage Chloe is something I would want to see more of even though I know I never will. 3. The story potential. The writers would probably bend over backwards to showcase as little of it as possible seeing how it is in filler infested canon but I can dream. Felix being conflicted between the freedom Chat gives him and freedom from the curse, the conflicts between him and Marinette due to different viewpoints and later due to his plan to woo Ladybug to get rid of the ring getting out, Felix truly falling in love over time (instead of in the first episode despite later episodes not being used to develop the relationship) and realising that if he stops being Chat he won't be able to see Ladybug anymore, Ladybug sympathising with him when it comes to him being forced into being a hero but still hurt and knowing Paris needs Chat so finding herself asking "Is it right to force someone to save a city?". This is the conflict I prefer. The kind that is related to the main plotthreads, has a lasting effect on the characters and their relationship and their happiness. 4. Asshole characters are just more entertaining to watch and less prone to plotholes. In my opinion the original concept for Felix wasn't as shitty of a person as Astruc seems to think since a) he got roped into the hero thing where he risks his life on a regular basis. One kiss under false pretences doesn't seem like that heavy of a moral price to pay to get out of this; It is a kind of a digression but a character that does bad things for understandable reasons wins over a character that is poorly motivated and/or never does anything impactfully shitty, b) Marinette is a creepy stalker and annoying too. It makes perfect sense he would give her a cold shoulder. She does the same to Chat as Ladybug anyway. This situation makes Marinette's main flaw seem like an intentional part of the story as oppossed to a writting copout. And this way each of the characters is in a perfect position to learn something because the other will call them out on their bullshit or at least express their distaste. This version of the story avoids a lot of questionable writting. I have a motto when it comes to writing "Do not try to make your character virtuous. You will not succeed". Characters making shitty choices happens in stories all the time, often to create very specific circumstances. While it can be achieved withough resorting to ruining good characters' moral or intellectual integrity not many writers are good enough at what they're doing to accomplish that. But if a character is canonicaly an asshole you can explain certain choices with that without giving them the idiot ball or making them more ashollish for just one scene. Besides, disconnect between what the writer sees as morally correct and what at least a part of the audience sees as such always exists. And having no potential flaw being lampshaded as potentially scummy, let's say having no character call the other out even if it would make sense to do that feels preachy and in the worst case scenerio as if reality was being warped to fit the author's opinion. Can you tell I am talking about the "Marinette's expresions of her crush are just an exagerration" thing? Having a character be wrong by design helps remedy that or at least hide it. And it also make severything more interesting and less stagnant. Imagine the heroes who let go of some ethics even if in a small way breaking in the houses of suspects and trying to find evidence for them being or not being Hawkmoth. Sounds more fun than just them waiting for the Akuma attack and expecting the mystery to solve itself and the Hawkmoth problem to also solve itself when Gabriel rarely comes to them and they never come to him, doesn't it? Going back to Felix himself, him not being upfront about what he wants the kiss for seems illogical if it is a matter of the powers cancelling each other out (although there are possible explainations; we know very little of PV magic mechanics) and coupled with true love's kiss actually working in canon I'm leaning towards the idea it was supposed to be like that in the original concept too as much as I hate it. That would mean for it to work Felix's feelings can't be a scam. Which means him actually decieving ladybug is very questionable unless he both doesn't realise his feelings and misunderstands how the kiss works so he'd be more like a flawed good person rather then a piece of shit people didn't like him for being. 5. A lot of the creators reasons for replacing him are bullshit. Most of my afomentioned reasons stem from my personal tastes and simply liking Felix more than Adrien and because of that I see them as secondary to this one. Since replacing him isn't a bad idea on principle but it can very well be if done due to for example bad priorities which I personaly believe is the case here. I already explained why him being too morally corrupt is something I don't believe but their reasoning I think was that he'd be a bad role model for children which is as bullshit as saying a show would be bad if it doesn't teach lessons. Cartoons shouldn't be used to moralise children but to be entertaining and interesting. Deeper that a sploch of water if you want to, as in if that's the authorial intent. I hate it when that's the mindset creators have. Gets in the way of fun. Also it connects with marketing reasons which are understandable but still irritating. Also Marinette is a shitty rolemodel. In addition, their solution to Felix being an Anime cliche was to replace him with a western cliche. You know, a child that comes from a rich family but feels unhappy and controlled, that just wants to be like other kids and has neglectful parent(s)/parent(s) that is/are just busy with work to give their ungrateful ass the best life they could possibly have but they're totally in the wrong. Oh and the parent(s) may also be assholes either in addition to the previous line or instead of it. Ring any bells? Tropes aren't bad and the one they're afraid of is only overdone in shoujo manga meaning it would be less recognizable and more originally used in the west. Also, canon Marinette acts shoujo manga protag as fuck. 6. I'm bitter we didn't get 2D, Anime-like, teenager-targeted Miraculous and liking Felix is both one of the causes and a symptom of that. That's it for that point. Actually, give Chat Noir real cat ears you cowards. It doesn't make sense Adrien's fake ones work like real ones anyway. Phew... that was a wall of text. Didn't expect it to grow this big. I have a tendency for overwrit... aaaand I'm doing it again.

Here's the thing, I get why, but at the same time, changing Adrian the way they did honestly hurt the character WAY more than helped. Seriously, Adrian throughout the series as essentially remained the same overall, being the same in episode 1 as he is in the most current episodes, to where he feels a lot more like a Gary Stu. With Felix, they could have had him start out jaded and apathetic, but slowly grow, having him slowly move past this persona to become more open and caring. Felix also works better as Cat Noir BECAUSE it would allow him to change from the apathetic character we know to a more energetic individual the moment he puts on the mask, allowing it to be a way for him to show his true self (which also works better when the home environment he's in, because sorry, but when children grow up with a distant parent, the child begins to show resentment and disdain because they feel unloved, so they in turn start to act out and mimic what they're shown).

I think felix would've have so much more potential being an interesting character for the 2nd main character because I have a huge idea in my head if felix was the 2nd main, tbh miraculous is an overall good show but,I think that miraculous is still a goose chase due to adrian's clueless behavior with marinette.

I prefer the anime I would have loved to watch all the episodes than to see a kids show. I dont agree with some of the things you said like there is no chemistry between marinette and felix. The 3d one is more for children. The anime could have so much potential

Honestly I really think Adria is TOO perfect like his mom is dead abusive father who never pays attention to him rarely ever allowed to be with any friends only CHLOE is allowed with him and forced to be perfect 24/7 and has obsessed fans. I like the pv miraculous plot and the animation better. I think seeing felix not being interested in anyone but having to get a kiss by Ladybug due to his curse on his ring and probably slowly falling inlove with ladybug is just sm better then the plot we have in the cartoon. And Felix's character is just sm better and makes more sense. Felix lost his mother making him isolated from others and cold. And his cat noir design. Since felix is so neat youd never guess felix would be cat noir since of the differences. And marinette in the pv is just better because she's sm braver and stronger with her feelings

As Thomas Astruc said himself, Felix was a darker character but so was the original story. The setting was literally darker and more atmospheric, Gabriel Agreste didn't look like a candy cane, and 5 years later I still think most changes were for the worse. With the 2D trailer, I brought a bunch of my friends into the fandom even when there was no hope for a revival of the Miraculous universe. 2015 rolled around, my friends were excited but most quit after season 1 due to heavy disappointment. I do find Adrien charming but that is only because of his Chat Noir side, while the original stood out on his own and the superhero persona only further added to him. 2D Felix, unlike the CGI one, wasn't a manipulator, a liar, or a thief as far as I can tell from the anime PV and other promotional materials - he was just very coldhearted and a bit of an ass. He seemed as if he wanted to just be left alone. Yet a loud tiny girl followed him around and a mischievous supernatural being forced upon him super-inconvenient powers (Felix had really bad luck cuz of his kwami). In the trailer, he almost acted as the straight man in a cartoony highly energetic whimsical world which sounded so cool! Instead of that, we got an equally cartoony guy in the form of Adrien Agreste who is an endlessly kind, forgiving, generous, fluent in multiple languages, great at piano, school, skating fencing supermodel who almost everyone adores but he's just so damn nice, pure and humble to notice it... The challenge for 2D Marinette was for her to prove to Felix that she's not just a fangirl- she truly cares and likes him for himself. That relationship would be cute AND be character growth! The challenge for CGI Marinette is to get through Adrien's shounen harem protagonist levels of denseness, how riveting... In the official Miraculous cartoon we still have the problem of Marinette liking only Adrien's mask and I have lost faith in Thomas Astruc as a writer so I'm sure he'll just gloss over that as he did in the Chat Blanc episode. In conclusion, I was happy a popular RU-vidr brought this subject to the public's attention but was disappointed she was against Felix's original character.

Ok in my personal opinion, though i do like adrien, felix would have been a more interesting character with a lot of scope for development. I dont think he necessarily falls into the trope of bad boys, but rather a more stoic lead into books and somewhat socially withdrawn. And that would have made his transition to cat noir, where he can be completely care free and the opposite of his own self that much more interesting to watch, I mean, seeing him so free and alive and howl when he's cat noir is freaking awesome. Also, watching felix grow as a character would've been fun. I like adrien and marinette but as characters, I feel felix's journey and his transitions to cat noir would've been very fun to see. And to also have him be more selfish and apathetic as a hero and then warm and grow, it could've had a lot more potential. Taking a trope of selfish, cold lead and experimenting with it by having him turn into cat noir. And to also add, marinette being more of a good hero and cat noir being more selfish, the contrast dudessss damn that would've been cool, to see these polar opposite heroes team up and grow.

The more I find out about the production, the more it sounds like they've been winging more then I would like. What happened with Chloe between progressing and keeping the statuesque. Anyways, anyone see GI Joe Renegades?

Felix did get the dog miraculous, but he immediately used it to betray ladybug and get the peacock miraculous. I'd like to see how this foil continues as Felix becomes more of an anti-hero in future episodes of season 5.

I love the old look for Cat Noir, with the tail, the hair and the slightly (maybe?) sadistic grin after his transformation.

Adrien is cool and all, but with Felix you can clearly see his character depth and emotional growth from episode to episode. For example, in one episode, he was mean, and then they stopped him, and he was no longer mean. There are many examples like this. Like when he turned mean again. Man, I wish he had stayed Cat Noir. 😽

I think they didn't put enough of an effort with Felix honestly. I like the idea of having a darker character, and instead of him brushing her off, he could have easily used charisma to win her affections because if I'm correct, the reason he flirted with ladybug was because him owning plagg was a curse and not something given to him. They could have had an episode in where maybe there was a disaster leaving him and Mari unable to change, and maybe he could have revealed him being upset about this curse without saying who he is. I simply like darker toned shows, so I am just a bit disappointed because to me, it seems an effort to make him work wasn't made.

Saying that Felix was replaced eith Adrien's character because his characteristic isn't compatible with Mari and their personality clash. Yet anime's logic in love chemistry, (also on wattpad love chemistry) is totally like that. Actually it would make each of the character's design would shine as it contrast of each other. Also would make such great humor if they are in their Felix X Marinette (or Bridgette) love chemistry. Of how open and energetic Mari is, Felix would have this Tsundere energy that would also add color to their story. Just seeing Mari fumbling and stuttering whenever she is with Adrien, all I feel is second-hand embarrassment. But though, I still love their chemistry (Adrienette), though, just thinking a relationship between a socially reserved and an open person would come to life through this show maybe would be epic

I might be in the minority here, but I think Felix would have been an interesting foil to Marinette. Adrien is so...good and sickly sweet, that he tends to get boring after a while because he's basically _perfect_ . Seeing Felix be angry and lashing out would have been interesting. We could have had the dynamic of watching him learn compassion through Marinette, and to let go of his resentment and bitterness. For me, the Adrien we got is basically a mirror of Marinette. He's the male version of the Marinette character (without the clumsy goofiness). It would have been interesting having an angry, morally compromised deuteragonist for once, and seeing how he reacts to situations, as well as watching Ladybug and Chat Noir clash due to their differing POVs/personalities. Instead, they went the "safe/easy" route and ended up with what is basically a shojo trope.

I love both Adrien and Felix and I think it would be interesting to see the latter as main character, but now I just hope they'll develop him in the show

Honestly I love miraculous. But I'm not exactly sure what direction it's going to go in. The ending of season 3 definitely leaves a lot of open ended questions that we might not get an answer to for a long time.

There is a fan made PV umbrella scene where Felix does show compassion towards marinette showing that he does have a heart and just doesn’t like to show it. if the PV were what we had today they very easily could have gone down this path, kinda like a redemption arc? Idk but I do think this could work if they decided to go with it.

I’m actually a fan of Felix more. I feel like he has a good character development in him and I would be interested to see how Marinette and Felix would turn out. Marinette’s this sweet yet clumsy girl and Felix never really got see the world since he was locked in his basement, so I think that Marinette can fix this in some way with the power of her kindness. (The power of love, MIRACULOUS!~♪) I think it’d kind of be cute if they’d got together- and if the creators of miraculous go in depth of the story more, showing the side of the -evil- people. Yeah sure, they’d probably get into all of these short arguments because of Felix, but a short reminder that all relationships in order for them to be actually relationships they can’t be perfect. They need to have some sort of flaws which builds up the relationship to be stronger. Aaand they’d make up pretty quickly but awkwardly because of Marinette. Still, Felix isn’t all evil, he just hasn’t met someone who is all perfect. Very interesting *non-existent* relationship, but I guess adrien... ʅ（◞‿◟）ʃ (Thanks for reading this, I haven’t watched the actual show, I’m not officially part of the fandom. I personally preferred Felix's character over Adrian so when it changed I was a bit disappointed. Felix seemed to be a better match for Mari, maybe just a bit too cold-hearted but have a sweet spot? Adrian was more like umm kid not so adult-like?

What annoyed me was that Thomas said Felix would never appear on the show, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up and he seemed annoyed with people asking. But then the description for an upcoming episode called “Felix” came out of nowhere. Also there were so many fanfictions about Felix being Adrien’s cousin before it was confirmed, so there’s a good chance the writers saw those and wanted to put it in the show, changing their minds about Felix.

I think Felix was pretty cliché, but they definitely could have improved him without changing his personality completely. I dont know if its because of their target audience being younger audiences and the setting being in a high school, but Felix as he was would be much more difficult to fit in as the creators mentioned. However, I'd say Felix in The Miraculous Office AU is an example of how he can work very well :) (In this case, the whole show's premise would have to change AHHAHA)

Honestly, I'm happy they changed the character for chat noir. I love Adrien, he's just so sweet, adorable and compassionate. As well as this, Marinette and Adrien are just so cute together, their personalities match and they can grow together as people. However I feel like I still want to see more of a character like Felix, its quite interesting and he like a polar opposite of Adrien.

Bruh, Félix and Marinette have the most chemistry out of all the other ships. Y’all really don’t know how chemistry works. Take the 4-year program and educate yourself first before making statements

TBH, I think Felix has chemistry with marinette, I mean, no couple start off a couple, and I would die to see how they could go. It would be fun, and Felix can grow in the process. I love Adrien, but Felix is just a great character to play with, especially when he can GROW. Adrien gets that too, but watching Felix grows as a main character would have been really nice and fun. Oh well, I'm not sure if the writers can afford it tho, they are good at making bad decisions.
