after borderlands the pre-sequel each of the 6 vault hunters went off to do evil and not so evil things...but what happened to them? Follow Me! ►Twitter: / eruptionfang ►Twitch: / eruptionfang ►Instagram: / eruptionfang
More like Randy get's shot in the face by Ava who is now a likeable character as she is the retcon version from that one cutscene that was cut out of the game.
I feel so bad for claptrap because if you play as him when beating the dlc and jack decides to kill all claptraps he says "bu...but I saved you all...." like he didnt even want much, just them to be nice to him for saving them and they kill him. everyone but Athena laughs at him after Jack shoots him. Athena actually looks sad and looks away
I feel like jack backstabbing wilhelm was like him sacrificing ones queen in chess to go for a check mate, and it would have been a win for him and the end for the raiders if it wasn’t for Lilith. ( who at the time jack thought was dead.) so in hindsight a bad move but hey it is what it is.
@@toxin2366 true enough, but my original point still pretty much stands because at the time no one knew that lilth could teleport sanctuary at the time.
Looking back at it, Jack could've not backstabbed Wilhelm and instead just have a ton of loader and exploder bots defend the trainwreck in order to make it look like he's protecting it, and that he doesn't want whatever is on the train to fall into the Crimson Raider's hands. Basically, he could've got the same outcome he wanted without sacrificing his best man and most loyal soldier.
If the Claptrap we play as is the pre sequel is the same one from BL1, BL2 & BL3 he truly is a legend that deserves everyones respect and yet everyone hates him.. at least me and Tait will always love em
I'll always love him, my main char in Pre Sequel, and he is indeed the same unit. I get why people hate him though, he's annoying as all fucking get out, but he's bullied way too hard.
humm... the only one they screwed in bl3 is aurelia...wilhem and nisha died in bl2 and i would say timothy and claptrap got some pretty nice development(claptrap is no longer the last one of its kind and timothy is now free to do whatever he like)
That game in general was done dirty. Honestly I find it the most fun to play based on skill trees and gameplay, it just sucks it only got 1 dlc and then 2k australia shut down and then rip to the future of that game lol
@@Black_Aces for sure, and nobody is gonna tell me that claptrap/nisha/aurelia/athena weren't some of the most fun (if not the most fun) vault hunters to play as.
@@deejmateo832 True, personally I think that might have been a result of each class kind of being a hybrid of other classes (e.g. Athena is a hybrid of the siren and assassin) it made them a lot more fun to play as
@@STALKER777LK Imagine an alternate timeline where he just went "screw the warrior bring out 100 saturns and oh? Yeah man call that one Hyperius guy right now!"
Actually, Jack originally was competent, he is the only reason that the vault hunters were able to get to the vault in TPS, Lilith screwed him over though and he was driven insane by the time 2 happened
@@insertnamehere12 Yk he wanted to bait the VHs right? That and he fucked around with them. The insanity didn't mean shit, the only reason the CRs won was because Angel betrayed him. This is refrenced and he went batshit after they killed his daughter. So ye
I was so bummed that Athena & Janey aren't even mentioned in BL3. I remember one of the devs saying that "he couldn't talk about Athena" because of potential spoilers before BL3 came out but nothing ever came of it.. Really sucks.. She is my favorite playable vault hunter.
if those two really did get a happy ending, then there should be no say. they live together in the middle of nowhere and no one finds them, just a (relatively) peaceful life alone away from everything. i think their lack of story now is good, since they just ride into the sunset never to be heard of again i guess. good ending?
Honestly i kinda Take the Athena and Janey situation as a sort of "no news is good news" thing. If plot relevant things are not happening to them that means they probably did just get married and go off to live a quiet life, which isn't really a privilege any other playable vault hunter has had yet
i honestly wish Claptraps combat protocols were intact. It would make him one of the biggest badasses in the series. Imagine how different and fucking crazy the BL2 intro would be if instead of waking up in a junk pile we'd have Claptrap just casually roll up and gun some bullymongs down, talking in a cowboy accent or something, then drag us to his hideout, and THEN we proceed with the usual intro of him getting his eye out, except instead of being a complete burden, he fires in random directions, hitting the mongs, you or anything else possible. Would be hilarious to just roll up on Pandora and get schooled on vault hunting by a claptrap that's been in the business longer than you
Eh pretty sure they just used a few npc's from 2 and decided to give them some story. In 3 they just decided to completely undo some story to have a generic evil sibling story line.
@@gageunruh3574 i mean even before BL3 you got Roland who got killed, and then they just kinda continued that trend with a lil bit of back tracking back to BL2 when PreSeq came out. I just find it interesting that the VH are just dying left and right by other VH.
@@r3dkn1gh7 well...they kinda have too. Vault hunters are hunting vaults that everyone knows hold giant world ending monsters. They are the best of the best at their jobs. A normal grunt killing them doesnt feel right. So other vault hunters or super villains have to be the ones to put them down.
Isn't that the whole point of Borderlands' wild-west-esque state? Everything is so fucked up that both staggering success and miserable demise are equally possible. Oh yeah, also poop jokes.
Something I’d like to see is an echo, or maybe even a side quest at some point, where Timothy uses his status as a Doppleganger to get a crap tonne of money, as he should easily be able to since he can fool a body scanner into thinking he’s Jack, and go around trying to make amends to people. He could even go and give enough money to Athena to let her live a quiet, peaceful life that she deserves. Cause in the Handsome Jackpot, he mentions how he tried to use his status to help people, but saw how the other Dopplegangers were treated. This way, he can finally help others, maybe even use the money to surgically change him back to his normal self
As with Athena, there’s the way I mentioned where she settles down and lives a quiet life. But something I just thought of is that maybe Rhys can hire her as a sort of instructor for Atlas’s army. She’d train the new recruits to be able to handle themselves, while respecting Janey’s wish to not fight anymore. Obviously this would be a huge character development since she killed almost every single Atlas employee, but the irony is that she ends up willingly working for the company she hates, fully knowing that they’re not the same as what she grew up with.
For those who just want a quick explanation: Athena: Married to a junker girl Wilhelm: Dead Nisha: Dead Claptrap: Still annoying the Crimson Raiders “Handsome Jack”: Dating Moxxi in a space casino Aurelia: Dead
Technically, the vault hunter in Claptrap was the Fragtrap program Jack installed. And it's still very much alive. He's just patiently waiting to strike. I don't want any of those pesky A.I.s or crimson raiders to be alerted to my presence.
I hope they bring back Athena in Borderlands 4 because her story needs to be explained more with what the hell happened to her with Lilith after the Guardian gave them a warning about what the future will hold for them at the end of Borderlands pre-sequal
@@kelsian_smith03 The most we know about her after being released from Lilith is, if chosen to, she aids the TFTBL gang against The Traveler and possibly marries Springs.
Lets be honest. Borderlands 3 completely threw a wrench into the story that the series has built up and has so many inconsistencies its astounding. Im not sure if the Tiny Tina game will save the franchise, but if BL4 is anything like BL3 this series wont last much longer.
As someone who didn't play any of the dlc for any of them besides campaign of carnage and didn't play borderlands again after my single bl2 playthrough only to play bl3 7 times and be on an 8th however long since release later disagrees I think the story being very About Bad Family and leaning really hard into every character being either an obnoxious sociopath, an obnoxious sociopath trying to be loved, Regular Cool Person, completely psychologically broken murderer, Tina, or Daddy Issues really alienated people who wanted like. Sane shit. My obnoxious, schizophrenic ass loves it though 🤪 Plus the gay dudes are just gay and don't have Gay as an extra personality category, so honestly it wins over most things w gay dudes in them Edit: I also never finished borderlands 1 bc it's very boring ❤ But yeah bl3 would have been significantly more liked if the villains weren't a boomer's interpretation of streamers
I really hope Janey and Athena are living a good married life. But knowing this is borderlands with randy bitchford, they are probably gonna end up worse
At the very least, we know that Janey helped construct Sanctuary 3, so we can assume that going forward, she's at least on amicable terms with the crimson raiders despite their kidnaping and attempted murder of Athena.
Aurelia was rich enough to imitate what jack did and make a doppelganger to dodge the heat of tps events. Given how out of character her bl3 writing was that's my head cannon.
as much as I love Aure, and would love to see her return. if they were to ever do anything with a non-Jack doppelganger, it'd probably be Rhys, then we'd have an explanation of why he's A) around and B) totally separate from every one of his friends. I mean, I guess they could just do it with both characters, but then it'd feel kinda, like, cheap?
If Gearbox wants to (and I'm not saying that they would), they could easily retcon Aurelia dead in BL3 by saying that she swapped out a body double (or just a fake body decoy) at the last minute before the BL3-Vault hunter killed her and went into hiding.
In no uncertain terms, two words. Character Assassination. Gearbox straight up does a disservice to many of the former Vault Hunters with Claptrap probably getting it the worst. Nisha dies, Wilhelm dies, Lady Hammerlock dies, Athena disappears and Timothy gets stuck in a casino for seven years and then needs to be rescued by the New Hunters and Moxxie.
Its even in a line from aurelia " that was... Wow. I'm evil but thats just." And then jack starts talking after he released the scientists into space that you just rescued
I get it claptrap is annoying, however I do enjoy his company when the world often gets so bleak, he is a nice break from some of the mindless violence
Regarding Athena, does no one remember the DLC for BL1, where you meet up with her and she’s still an assassin? I feel like people have forgotten that bit
They could easily bring back Nisha or Aurelia if they wanted with the "body double" retcon. It would even make more sense for Aurelia since she is simply too rich to die and was around to see how it worked with Timothy.
I wonder if there's anyone left on Elpis after the events of BL3. I mean the whole moon being shoved around with telekinesis can't have good outcome. 🌋🌪️🌊
Nisha and Wilhelm I can agree with how they were handled being a bad thing, I feel like that's how their story would end anyway, a VH killing them for one reason or the other, they don't seem like the sort of people who would betray Jack, even after his downfall. Auralia was done dirty, like damn, she was a bitchy character before, but a refined bitch, but BL3... Nah, just a straight up bitch, and it wasn't right.
The Aurelia thing pisses me off to no end, She didnt even have to die. I don't think she really wanted to kill Hammerlock or even Wainwright because when she shot them right before you battle her she didn't aim for any vital spots on them. Shes a seasoned vault hunter so i'd like to think she can hit Headshots or Chest shots with ease. It was just a sibling rivalry thing.. it would've been so cool if after her fight we just put her in second wind then revive her and she just... goes away after admitting defeat possibly to return later
@@Black_Aces they really glossed over the rule for making complex characters of need(theme) wants ghost(backstory), and Lie(perspective) All she has is a want to be a bitch. No really purpose in theming. Her backstory is that she was always a bitch. And her perspective is to have a want to be a bitch her staying alive after the boss fight let’s say her admitting she just wanted the attention from her reclusive brother who left the family Would fill in every thing else, quite easily with family being the theme, and allowing the ghost or lie to exist.
I really wish we'll find out while Nisha was laying low(ish) on Pandora that she'd secretly had a child from her time with Handsome Jack.. a combination of those two would be a truly frightening prospect.🌠
Idea: What if some Handsome Jack is brought back because of Rhys and Timothy? Timothy doesn't want anything to do with the Crimson Raiders or Atlas, but one of the Atlas scientists uses his DNA and Rhys's old eye to bring back Jack. They don't have to mention what Rhys did with his eye (whether he kept it or destroyed it), but some scientist who is obsessed with Jack brought him back using Timothy. It could be either Timothy becomes a host for Jack or they make a Jack like android.
Aurelia didn't deserve to be used as a throwaway villain like that. I'd rather her not been in the game, rather than just reverse her character arc from TPS
Nisha and Aurelia are the two most wasted potential of the Borderlands storyline. They both had the most promising plot-shaking possibilities, but where both killed like nothing in side missions. PARTICULARLY Aurelia. She was done SO dirty in BL3... but then again, the writing of this game was so atrocious it doesn't feel canon.
It gonna lie, I absolutely love how peeved you sound whenever you has to state which Pre-Sequel Vault Hunter is dead! Definitely understandable though!
Im an Aurelia main, and it sucks what they did to her in BL3. They just ignored the whole 'gather all the Vault Hunters' thing and I was hoping Aurelia and the rest of the TPS VH were on our side together with the BL2 VHs. A lot of missed opportunities tbh
You don’t know anxiety unless you maimed Timothy in TPS and spent the years between that game and the Jackpot DLC wondering if he was the Jack doppelgänger you kill in Opportunity
Honestly I think Athena took over Hyperion after the events of the pre-sequal and talese story line mainly because her skill was her shield and hyperion weapons have shields when aiming down site in borderlands 3, just a theory I would love to be confirmed. Just Athena and Janey running hyperion together.
3 of them are alive. one lost all of his powers. the other has lost his arm and is just happy to be free and the last one we dont know what they are doing more than she is probably married by now and isnt allowed to do bounty hunting stuff
It's a shame they did Aurelia so dirty. It's like they took a look at some cliffnotes and said "yeah, we can write this character". Like, goddamn, one of the sidequests in TPS has her explicitly saying she wouldn't cast her lot with the kind of obsessive nutjobs that the CoV and twins are, and another where she just avoids her brother but still helps him. And they retconned the whole storyline that was playing out during the arena DLC. Or maybe we'll be lucky and they'll retcon the retcon and bring everything back and just call BL3's Aurelia "a rogue body double taking advantage of the CoV".
He ran back into the casino to meet up with Moxx. She remembered what she said to him. Meaning that everything he recieved from her and she did too him. If it was seemingly spiteful. It was to play the point. And if it was good/romantic. Its because she was into him.
I would love to see in borderlands 4 that timothy has been able to remove the jack mask and has gottwn his old face back somewhat after extensive surgery from zed.
So to sum up in order of thumbnail: Loving with her honey, dead, dead, still the annoying sidekick in Sanctuary, trying to run the Casino while being Moxxie’s possible next husband/side piece, aaaaand dead.
I think if jack was to somehow come back, it would be awsome if there is a dlc in bl3 for his redemption. Or in the next game if there is one. Of course his skills and such would be different if he becomes a chracter. Itd also be cool if timothy and jacks personalities mixed to create someone new. But knowing how borderlands works, hed become a hot mess lol
We need desesperatly Aurelia and Jack back to Borderlands plot, they could make an alliance and be the two main villain like the Calypso brothers, but this time in a great way. Jack can return if someone put his counscience in Timothy's body like what happened to Rhys, and Aurelia she could be bring back by her Cryo Technology or something like that after her final fight in Borderlands 3. Or she could even be bring back by Jakobs technology because they have the best biological research in the game. This plot would be amazing because Aurelia's death was so unfair and annoying and Jack is one of the most popular character in Borderlands.
"We regret killing an interesting character so casually, because we could have used her to write a much more interesting story later. We learned a valuable lesson from this. Which is why we did it again."
It'd be a cop out but they could bring back willhelm because his cybernetics could have been used to clone him or have the one you kill in bl2 be a fake And Nisha in lynchwood could have been a body double because Jack was really God damn rich he'd have no problem make one of her
I just noticed that all 4 out of the 6 of the pre sequel vault hunters were killed by us Nisha, Wilhelm, Jack, Aurelia and yes I know if you let lilith kill jack I dont get why you would not want the free exp but it's just kinda funny that they were all killed by us except for Aurelia
2&3 already basically explains 5 of them actually. Athena is the only one unaccounted for because she was taken by the aliens of Elpis at the end of presequel and never heard a thing since.
the pre sequel bookend stuff happens in between a timegap during tales from the borderlands so it's more likely she went on an extended honeymoon with Janey
Speaking of Borderlands 3, I would like to think Rhys (from Tales) kept Jack's eye and either gave or sold it back to Hyperion and in turn created the Handome Jackhammer . . . I hope Blake is the new CEO of Hyperion. I liked him in Borderlands franchise, a villain that would give you a 1 hour headstart.
Update: Athena appeared in New Tales From The Borderlands on the CEO's meeting with Rhys, Jakcobs, Torgue and Katagawa Senior. There is a theory, that she becomes CEO of the Hyperion. We are referred to this by the words of the creative director of Borderlands 3, Paul Sage. He mentioned that there is a reason why Hyperion now has shields on their weaponry. But the game does not answer this question specifically.
for Nisha. they really did work them selfs intoa hole with how poppular she became after the presequal, could see them pulling the body double route like jack, she was his gf at the time soo that could work
