Ahahha np, there's a secret passage east of stormveil that let's you skip stormveil completely. If you're having an hard time with it you can just get stronger in other areas and then come back and destroy both margit and everything else in the castle
You still get an achievment for killing Margit and Morgott is much harder anyways so by the time you reach him you should go back and fight Margit since he will be easy by then and you can unlock all the boss achievements that way without having to start NG+ on that character.
I just want to mention how great is Morgott monologue and voice acting here... He is soooo done with you all....always meddling and scheming against him ( in his view ).. he is absolutely furious, its like he will unleash his frustration for all of them upon you. I kinda feel a bit sympathetic to him... its like.. "idiots, just stop, you cant even enter the goddamned tree and you still try and try and try and attack and pillage.. the lot of you assholes.. "
He also believes that no one can enter the Erdtree because the Greater Will has essentially abandoned them. So not only is everyone trying to get in and killing everything in their way to get there, but once they do they won't be able to get inside.
Morgott is actually the last bastion protecting the Erdtree while the other demi-gods just care for their own "foolish ambitions" thus making this mess a LOT messier. If Malenia hadn't fought Radahn, Caelid would not be the hellhole it is right now. If it wasn't for Rykard wanting everyone to be in the Serpent Famalee, he wouldn't have so much bloodshed that would lead his own people against him. If it wasn't for Godrick sewing limbs to himself, Limgrave wouldn't be called by its namesake, "grave for limbs". If Ranni left alone the Rune of Death, then maybe Godwyn who was loved by many would have kept the peace. The only demi-god he didn't mention was his twin Mogh but it isn't his brother's duty to protect the Erdtree; he doesn't have a throne and neither thus Morgott. But he took the task no one would own, to take a throne that would not let him in. His own ambition is to protect what he believes to be the sole sanity in this world has left - even if it meant killing you countless times in the process.
I never realized it but he says Rykard’s name with such scorn and anger which makes sense considering that Morgott is the one who led the battles against him at Mt Gelmir
Considering how rykard is the only known demi God completely against the erdtree (not counting ranni as she does her stuff in secret) no wonders that the protector of the tree would hate him lol
Imagine accidentally never finding the first boss, and then you go to this place. First you wonder "what's the point of two graces in a row with no boss in between?" and then you see the name of the second one and wonder "who the fuck is Margit the Fell Omen?"
I find it so interesting how morgott seems to turn back into a semi-normal human once you defeat him, perhaps showing that most of the omen curse has left him and that he may die with grace.
iirc the great rune probably amplifies whatever features the demigods had. Like how godrick turns into a puny human once you beat him. Idk for sure though
@@shutup11337 godrick looks like that because he is now devoid of all the parts grafted to his body and what you see is all that is left of his original body.
It is also nice to note that some sealed pathways (like in the sewers leading to the three fingers) the inscription reads "Sealed by Morgott the grace given", implying that even as an omen he might have been given grace at some point
Morgott singlehandedly shows that the Omen can be pure of heart. To put his past behind him, to defend the kingdom which once had him imprisoned. He is the true king of Leyndell.
interesting enough, prior to the greater will. Omen was considered the most graceful blessing, granted by the blessing of the great trea before it became the erdtree
Morgott is such a good character, the only one who stays loyal to his past, and even when he dies, he still tries offering the character his last bit of guidance, the only thing he has left
more than "offering his last guidance" I interpreted it as "this was all pointless you idiot, you can't become elden lord anyway, your dream will be crushed just like mine" which is still sad, since all he wanted was redemption...sure, seeking redemption from the people who cast him to the sewers would be like a jewish person trying to be recognized as a "good jew" by the nazis, but hey, he only wanted his mom's love and was forced to live in the sewers, having nightmares everyday, all of this with his weird pedo brother, the crawling hands, lobsters, revenants etc. The fact that he turned out like this is kind of a miracle
I think it’s interesting that Radahn is the only one that Morgott seems to speak of with a tone other than contempt, like he’s speaking of someone he respects or someone he’s on better terms with.
While Radahn did siege the capital, he’s the only one of the demigods who doesn’t want to completely destroy the golden order and even while at war kept holding the stars back.
For those who haven’t figured it out, Margett and Morgot are the same person, hence why he doesn’t show up in the beginning or later in the outskirts of leyndell
@@the_real_tay_loud2072 Yep, Morgott sends clones of himself to hunt down Tarnished as Margit, and keeps his identity as the king of Leyndell secret as he is ashamed of his curse (him being an Omen)
Its weird that if you fought Margit the first time, kill Morgott, Margit will still show up in his second spot even with Morgott dead. How could he use illusion magic if he's dead?
Honestly, i don't think it's an oversight. Think about it, Margit is a fake version of morgott ok, we agree on this. BUT, it's a clone probably summoned by morgott himself so, if morgott is dead, there is no one to summon it. On the other hand, fake margit at leyndell outskirts its a bit different. While it speaks and fights just like stormveil margit, it's summoning is a bit different. Leyndell margit gets summoned from the body of a basic enemy, not from thin air (like stormveil margit) so, what i believe, is that leyndell margit has no need for morgott to be alive as its akin to a pre-installed trap.
If you think about it, Morgott appears three times in the game. In each form, he announces his arrival and then he takes the form of an enemy or summons a reflection. So if he expects your arrival, then that must mean he’s been watching you the entirety of the game leading to his death.
I like how the Omen twins have this one thing in common.... you end up fighting the fricks twice because the first time they ran off like it didn't count.
Does anyone else wish there was an Alter Garments option for the weapons and we could use Morgott's Cursed Sword as the cane/staff instead of his blade? I live for the cursed blood sword, but whapping fools with a stick my man Morgott used to walk around would be awesome too.
@@ihatehandleupdate It does. It goes Cape off = stats get worse and often whatever made the garment look cool in the first place is taken off as well. One of them inexplicably goes from a cool samurai style robe to a skin tight body suit if you take off the cape. It's such a weirdly bad system.
Kind of odd how Morgott doesn’t have different voicelines depending on if you’ve seen Margit or not. Makes me think that was actually just a fake version of himself he set up and programmed to automatically pop up to stop anyone trying to become Elden Lord instead of actually projecting himself or actually being there physically.
It is likely since there is precedent of him casting projections of himself to stop anyone from reaching certain spots. What's odd is that one of said projections that appears in the Capital still appears even after you kill Morgott.
@@xXFrItZgErAlDXx I love that guy! I use him for parrying practice. Everytime he runs low on health I run away and reset at the Grace so I can come back and play with him again next time.
He says the same line about laying foolish ambitions to rest. Also, Margit's shackle works on Morgott. I am pretty sure, like 98% sure they are the same person. The fact that Margit does not appear when you kill Morgott first is pretty clear evidence of this along with the similar name, appearance, voice lines and shackle vulnerability.
I have tried it now, i can say that if you kill morgott before margit in a clear account it gives both margit, the fell omen achievement and shardbearer morgott achievement.
I can only imagine what it was like for the few players who just went around Margit and continued the game normally, who then stumbled upon the second Margit disguised as a noble, walking into Margots boss room and watching him walk down the stairs. Those very few people probably have PTSD from him.
@@taaseenrahman8000 Yea, tmk theres no event that stops that Noble from spawning in the same field in the Capitals Outskirts except igniting the tree and advancing the Capitals state I think. I just choose to see it as Margit can be directly controlled by Morgott but can also be left behind and idle like a trap or sentry to check in on randomly.
Would have preferred getting the final talisman pouch through this fight instead of Godfrey's spirit. Would have made more sense considering we get our first pouch from the Margit fight.
Morgott is not only the last king, he’s the last honorable demigod. Even the great hero Radahn is no more than a thrashing corpse by the time we see him
As much as he is, he still keeps the stars at bay in that state. It's debatable whether that's a good thing but it's something Morgott definitely liked.
Okay but can we all appreciate that moment at 2:10? I know for a fact that if this was me playing I would have seen that phantom and know in my head "fuck this guy is fighting him too in the exact same spot" and that gives me fucking hype to kick this dudes ass
It does sometimes look cool, I've had times a ghost would do the exact thing I was doing and it looks so cool. But man they always scare me in dungeons.
I had this moment where I stupidly tried to block a boss attack because it had way to long windup and I rolled to early. I got guard broken and was stuck in the animation next to a phantom doing the same animation.i rolled imidiatly afterwards to dodge the next attack while my phantom bro got hit again. Felt like I just saw another dimension XD like a dark parallel universe and I'm in the version where luck is on my side. Felt a bit bad for the guy but he might have just failed his roll 🤣.
I always feel so chummy when I find a phantom doing something alongside me. It almost makes me feel like we're there together sometimes, working hand in hand for the betterment of all.
@@spikespiegel6178 nah, there's fog walls that remain until you investigate the erdtree entrance and then rest at the grace. Source, this is what I did, then left on a merry adventure only to return sometime later to find Margotts body, I was able to talk to it and get the dialogue though, poor dude had been laying there for hours. Lol
@@burstpanther6352 yeah I did that part but didn't know there was morgott's body there. You can say I pulled a marika on him 😂, like how she was also ignored by her and his existence was hidden as a cursed one. When I can back the dude had already degraded in his father's hands.
You can skip any of the the 3 Great Rune bosses because you only need 2 Great Runes, so you could a 100% avoid Margit and Godrick, you don’t even nees to enter the castle.
Morgott drops a talisman pouch even if you got one from margit. They double up on it to make sure players fill the four slots. That kinda confused me because it always said morgott drops a pouch so I was excited to have five, only to learn none show up anymore after you get all 4
They made a game where you're free to do whatever you please. That's why what is shown in this video is even possible in the first place. You experiment your experience in which ever way you deem fit . I think that's the real beauty of this game. You are 99% free to play it your way!
That’s because that illusion was made by morgott, not mogh. That’s why when you kill that fake mogh, he dies in a yellow light meaning it’s grace magic
The song for the Mohg the omen fight is called Omen Illusion, so different scenario than Morgott disguising himself under a slightly different name. And check out the soundtrack it's wonderful
i find him perfect visually, he is not a glorious general or a profigy swordwoman, he is a demigod but also a prisioner, he could have been the heir to godfrey, but he just wants to defend the tree, he didnt bother to get some regal attire, no, he used his rags to conceil that he was morgot the veiled monarch, and took the defense of the capital in his own hands,
@@totzirger5125 and the best thing its that he got thrown in the sewers the moment he was born, so he learnt to fight for himself, other demigods like malemia and radhan learnt their styles from legendary mentors, but morgott just made his own fighting style All hail morgot the underdog king!
@@Necrotaku999 he has one of the most unique move sets I've seen in a fromsoft boss. When his staff breaks apart and we see the black "sword", it looks otherworldly. Can't wait to fight him again.
So I’m curious, on my first run I’m pretty sure his cane smoldered with embers before he broke it but sometimes I see it just breaking, did I just imagine it or is there a reason for it?
NOPE, it actually had flames in it in the first patch ever. For some reason they disappeared after the second patch or something. Idk why. Maybe it was a mistake (which still hasn't been fixed)
@@xeno_adastra Oh my god thanks, I was starting to think I had just imagined it. The wood encasing the sword used to burn but now Morgott just crushes it slightly and it just falls away like leaves. How come it didn’t break like that the hundred times it broke my skull in?
@@Vesterpester yup, i really don't know why it hasn't been fixed yet. It's clearly a bug as there is no way that the fire coming out of it wasn't intended
I really really enjoy the mix of Morgott's voice and the way he speaks, his ancient version of English takes me back to Demon's Souls and the way that blind girl spoke to us, and it's awesome the way he puts his words
Fun fact: Margit won't appear in Stormveil if he's killed in Leyndell first; however, Margit still appears outside of Leyndell. This is likely an oversight.
Out of all the bosses Morgott was probably my favorite, lore and boss fight. He was shunned for having the omen curse and yet he still protected Leyndell from the other bosses
Cuz you're much better at the game by the time you reach him. It was the same for me, I practiced fighting margit cuz this was my first fromsoftware game. But I beat morgott on my second try
@@9_debolati_318 Me too, my first play through I decided I was going to just keep fighting Margit until I could beat him, no summons, because it would make me better at the game. I'm still not good at the game but beating Margit like that made me at least passable
It’s awesome that they had the foresight to not have to fight Margit if you kill Morgott. I know it seems like an obvious and easy thing to program but not a lot of developers these days would have taken that into account and would still have you fight the same character even though you already killed him later on.
2:56 *Morgott absolutely demolished the Throne* “The Throne, stained by my curse!” Sorry man, I think you’ve got a slightly bigger issue than a stain on your hands.
morgott is the longest living boss from when you first fight him to when he dies (rennala doesnt count since she never dies) morgott doesnt die until godfrey, so the 1st boss of the game doesnt die until the 2nd to last boss
Strange. It implies that Margit in the Castle is an illusion of Morgott. But I killed Morgott and then encountered his illusion on the battlefield in front of Lyndell (he drops +1 stamina talisman).
Also if you didn't beat that "ambush" Morgott outside the Leyndell gates before defeating Morgott, you can go to that area after and fight him there too
And you can beat 'subterranean shunning grounds' Mohg after defeating Morgott, even though it's popularly theorized that it was an illusion cast by Morgott since its his seal that prevents you from getting to the two-fingers, so maybe he was somehow able to cast the illusions to stay put as a last-ditch defence even if something were to happen to him.
Props to you for managing to stay without a talisman pouch for so long, personally, just this inconvenience would stop me from trying to do what you've done in the video.
Hmmm, I was sure I wasnt the first to document this exact thing and had a quick look on YT but typical of me I overlooked your video sir and literally only found it after I posted my version. 😅
This might not be right but His mother was Ranalla of the moon , so his birth was betrayal to Marika the ruler of the lands between. So her sons (morgott , Godrick ect ect) would have seen radahn as a traitor
He fight to take a Great Rune like others DemiGod. To Morgott, he loves his Family, especially his Mom/Dad so those people who cause the war happen and join that war (which mean every others DemiGod) go again the peace Godfrey/Marika make and or simply aim for the throne like all Tarnished.
its not explained most of the Demigods reasons for war, but its implied that each of them fought for their own "ambitions", even Morgott himself at some point tried to enter the Erdtree. Rykard and Godrick are the only ones with some light on their motives
@@Lucas-st1xq If anything Rykard, Godrick and Mohg are the most ambitious of the bunch. I mean Rykard literally committed blashphemy, Godrick fully committed into grafting to gain power and Mohg was attempting to establish an entire dynasty with another outer god.
Nice detail, I thought he would appear anyways. Btw, doing this would make miss Margit trophy, right? Edit: I am asking out of curiosity, I like Margit fight so I would never skip it.
Now that's a bug. The only way to get to crumbling Farum Azula without defeating the giant is through wrong warp abuse. So not a secret like Margit not appearing if you beat Morgott, just a speedrunning glitch.

I'm glad they did think of this I was kind of disappointed when i tried killing Gurraq in his temple only to find out he was still there in Farum Azula Maybe the one in the temple was a projection or something but its very weird since he loses controll like a real beast when advancing the quest, either its a very perfect projection or idk but it wouldve been cool if you could have skipped it if you managed to kill him
@@irvingsussler5392incorrect. The black knife assassins stole pieces of Destined Death from Maliketh. It’s why Gurraq, who is Maliketh, wants deathroot to recover what was stolen from him. Gurraq still being there after you kill Maliketh could have something to do with the time altering stuff going on in Farum Azula, or it could simply be so that you don’t lock yourself out of his quest line if you progress too far
Interesting. I was convinced that Morgott was Margit, until I found that Margit will still spawn on the battlefield, in the capital outskirts, after Morgott is defeated. He is disguised as a regular stormveil commoner (like Gostoc) and transforms when you approach. Now seeing this, Im completely confused again. 😅
My theory is that Margit is an illusion created by Morgott in that precise moment you reach Stormveil (there is no gostoc look alike where he spawns so I guess is a different kind of summoning) while leyndell's Margit is like a trap always placed there and independent from Morgott (just like Mohg's illusion)
I’m planning a ng++ playthrough so I can get the frenzied flame ending, so it’s good to know I can straight up skip margit with no negative consequences
