Being a fan of bikes and firearms I found this to be insanely interesting. A lot of tracks now restrict noise levels to 105db for track days, this is wide open throttle and keep it below 105db as you fly by someone with a meter. I struggle to keep one of my bikes below this threshold even with adding db killers baffles to the exhaust.
Noise restrictions on tracks is stupid in my opinion. It's usually cause by people who buy a house next to a track then complain about the noise. Don't want noise, don't live next to a track

Awesome video! Really like your guy's production on this! Hmm. What would happen if you made an exhaust that had a muzzle break? Would it be louder? Would it shoot flames? 😅
Cool video, great fab work, great production quality. Im wondering if the whistling is because unlike a gun barrel with a bullet traveling down it, there are no obstructions in the muffler to cause the air to redirect into your baffling except static air pressure fighting it. It sounded like it was only catching partial baffling airflow, even with the grating. Might be why it whistled, taking the path of least resistance still. If you did something like a chambered baffle design with a partial obstruction. Could force exhaust redirect into the baffling, and you could vent the secondary baffled exhaust with something similar to a gas ported suppressor/brake. Might reduce overall DB and whistle but with engine-running air dynamics, I dunno how restrictive you can get.
I was thinking the same. Usually with a fire arm the bullet is the obstruction but also it's one single pulse not a 1000 a min. I think if I did a larger cone or a k-style baffle that would offer a much different sounds.
@@DeanSpeedCustoms oh yeah, every iteration you prototype is going to reveal some cool enginerding stuff probably. It’s cool and get the gears turning. It’s a neat concept to play with for the shits and giggles of seeing how it sounds and just how much it’s gonna stress an engine fighting to push it out more. Thanks for the high effort too, you didn’t half ass any of it.
I think it needs a bullet or bullets, like the inlet cone on a jet engine, to direct the air into the baffles. Whether that cone is pointed or rounded is up to you.
I've always wanted to build a muffler that was half the typical packed with perforated tube thru it style, but then the other half is chambered/baffled
Now this is going to sound crazy. But sometimes i feel like all smart phones and technology is already working on our brain frequencies and linked. I was thinking about this exact same concept a few weeks ago and it was just a tjought inside my head. I know how suppressors are made because i built a form 1 suppressor myself. But my toughts leaned more toward a stack of cone. Or k baffels
Try discs as youve done like a silencer and wrap fibreglass aroundthe outside of them then the can . I think it might be better than the perf tube for longetivity.and even soundwave capture. You did just use washers didnt you
Thank you for the suggestion! I think we need to do another version of this video but with more styles of suppressor baffling. Who knows! we might find our next muffler design
@@DeanSpeedCustoms yeah also allows for smother transfers, and more scavenging hence why a k baffle is used on smaller slower moving calibers, the cone baffle is used more on higher pressure faster moving rounds as the abrupt transfer bleeds off more gas due to turbulence from the sudden directional change. K baffles tend to have less internal volume too which would help your situation, whereas cone baffles are have a larger internal volume.
