The term dark empath is a relatively new term to refer to someone who uses their empathy for manipulation. Sounds somewhat familiar to someone with narcissistic or psychopathic traits? A dark empath is someone who is manipulative but not necessarily malicious. We previously did a video covering what happens when a narcissist meets a dark empath. By request, we are doing one featuring the interactions between two dark empaths. Let us know if you would like us to do more series like this about the signs of dark empaths. I dropped a friend like this a few months ago. He got people's trauma out of them, lied about his, and used others trauma against them. He lied about his friends committing suicide for years until it got back to them and he only admitted he lied bc they called him in front of others. He also purposefully makes offensive comments and when you tell him that isn't okay, bring on the pity and tears of "I'm trying to get better"

As a person who discovering that I struggle with lack of emotion and empathy, this was strangely a comforting video. I have always struggles with narcissism (due to being put on a pedestal by the adults in my life) as well as having Machiavellian tendencies. I worry and second guess myself a lot with my motivations towards others, and often worry that I'm manipulating them. Is worrying about manipulating others a good sign or a bad one? I guess I don't have a lot of empathy, and have more sympathy, but I understand peoples' emotions extremely well

exactly, we can make you feel what we like, and that includes safe and protected (which can be used as a very good thing, I use it in working with people with trauma etc) its just a thing, its not like NPD, we are not feeding a broken sense of self or broken ego, we are just fkn good at knowing what you feel and how to cause those feelings, thats all

I'm not a dark empath but i do know what makes people tick and know how to act around them to get the best results the only differance is that i dont manipulate and leave people. I try to build a long lasting friendship and try and help them. What am I? I have a lot of empathy.

You're a good emphat. Good emphat have lots of emphaty and tends to help others by comforting them. Being cautious of your actions and basically being the best of yourself is just human nature and being detailed or wanting to remember about other people's tick is an unconscious behavior of either a manipulator or a friendly emphat. In your case it's the latter, I'm pretty sure you want to know about the people you want to build relationships with wether friendship or partnership. Or maybe you're an INFJ like me💕 We're pretty much the same. The only difference is I feel like I'm too open to others, that people around me often take advantage of my emphaty. Other people always misunderstand my objectives too cause they think I'm being too emphatic and it's making me look "plastic" or fake Like man, it sure is difficult having lots of emphaty. Like last time someone said they want to die and I cry and try to comfort them and things, then the next morning they say it's just a prank and makes me feel like I'm being dramatic but my mind is thinking maybe they need attention that's why they did it? I don't even feel mad that they trick me but I keep on worrying for a week that maybe they are really suicidal and they just say it's a prank cause they don't want to open up (This has turned to a rant lol)

@@luna_black1296 Thank you very much but also I'm embaresed but i did express myself to a friend and told them that it was a prank the next day tho they believed me because before i told them they pranked me and it was a hurtful prank because i lowered my defenses but i know them well and they didn't mean to hurt me but i guess we are the same in the way that people miss understand us it would be impossible to count the number of times I've been miss understood also keep an eye on that friend of yours people don't say they want to die and and say it was a prank. I also have a friend who was suicidal in her past i didn't know her back then but when i think about it, it makes me want to cry. I just couldn't believe someone so happy could have dark thoughts like that and try suicide multiple times she is better now but she also has mental uniqueness like ADHD and OCD it causes difficulties in our relationship because sometimes i don't understand her(tho i do try to understand) not to mention she has major trust issues. What keeps me moving is knowing that there is nothing much i can do about my friends problems and situations and that i just have to try and be there for them and listen to them and that that may help them. Thanks for the advice btw. Hope things go well with your friend and don't lose hope.

Did you know it takes approximately 2 months to change a person's behaviour? Just know that yours and my mind will change depending on future events later on this year and the next. So maybe we never figure out who we truly are because we seem to change our behavior all the time

Maybe think about what you changed about yourself and what hasn't changed at all, and what you will change later on, thinking you are lazy, or rude, awkward? Have you always been that, or has it developed later on? What deeds have you accomplished, would you have done that in the past? What do you hate? Will you hate them forever or like it tomorrow? Are you healthy? Can you feel your physical self.... Just your finger tips or your ears, nose? Just think of that... Or don't think at all... Do you feel peace? If you hear any abrupt noise, just hear it and let it go. Because you are focusing on you and your body and nothing else.

I know someone like this. Idk if I'm like this, because by the end of the relationship, I was left hurt, confused and blamed for EVERYTHING. I couldn't handle any more accusations of things I didn't do, and accusations that I cheated (which I NEVER DID) was the LAST STRAW. I was honest, loyal and genuine for three years. I was FAR from perfect, but my integrity remained intact. And yet I STILL managed to end up being the one at fault, the reason things went bad... A CHEATER, of all things... I wanted so badly to keep trying to prove my innocence... But I finally had to just give up, before the stress and agony of more continual accusations of being a liar and a cheater finally broke me completely. I loved this person until the very end. And even still. I was loyal and faithful (if a bit dingy and brooding sometimes)... And I kept praying this person would finally see, finally understand... But I'm just so tired of the b.s. I can't keep trying any more😢

dark empaths are not part narcissist, they have a grandiose sense of self but simply being grandiose and having grandiose narcissism are 2 entirely different things. tbh the only part this video got right is the 1st one. and dont forget there are 7 types of narcissism, grandiose, vulnerable, benign , malignant, negligent, and generational

If the definition of dark empath is "get what you want by knowing how they work"... What if i manipulate them to have a better life? I often try to figure out the inner workings of people, so i can trick them into making smarter choices. I use tricks like subtly complimenting positive behaviors, while ignoring negative ones. I earn their trust, then use that trust to convince them to try out new things (like exercising, eating healthier, dressing better). Ive been doing it for years, and im starting to get good at it. These are always things that bring no benefits to myself... i just thrive off of seeing my work bring joy to another life. Is this just an empath? Or like... a 'reverse' dark empath? EDIT: words

i think i am one? i'm highly empathic and so sensitive to others. i can also put myself in peoples shoes with whatever situation they are going through. but when a person wrongs me, then i'll do my best to hurt their feelings while acting completely aloof and oblivious to what i've done to them. at least i recognize my behavior and i'm in therapy at this moment! is this a chronic thing? or am i able to change this?

How he acted with each group, how everyone did his bidding while not feeling its against their will, knowing what to say to make people do or not do things, knowing what to say to make someone feel good. Once he knew exactly what to say to break someone down who is known for being on the stoic side, making him loser his temperament and eventually shed tears (in front of the group) He knew everything about communication. Eventually he revealed himself to be a dark empath to me, but I had suspected it really. Sometimes he had this ruthlessly cold glare in his eyes, but only for a blink of an eye. Then it was back to Mr.Charm and witt himself. Now we are in different classes, but I wouldn't necessarily say he is a bad guy. He knows communication to an absurd degree. I thought I knew how it works, but I was barely able to follow everything he is doing while observing him. Also had a chat with him once, he was way more nihilistic than expected. But because he saw no reason in anything, he also saw no reason in hurting others for no reason (funny to put it that way no?) He also did none of these behaviours mentioned here, I'd rather put those in the narcissist category.

I feel like the classification given by this channel tends to paint them in a very bad light. Dark Empaths seem to know the game of communication to know how everything interlinks, the flow of conversation, they have, in a sense, the keys to the castle, and with great power comes responsibility. I feel like some people are more corrupted than others and utilize the system at their fingertips in a way that harms others while others get what they want in more mutually beneficial ways. This friend you mentioned seems to be one that still may not be fully honest in his intentions, a nugget of information to start.. Yet, it doesn’t seem like he’s out to harm. Although, one thing I’m curious on.. Do you think his nihilistic attitude might be coming from the fact that people often conform to his plans and that seeing that system has destroyed the meaning in his life?

@@armagladam I think its because of lack of challenge in his life. We find meaning in overcoming things, but if overcoming things is no challenge then you don't have meaning.

I believe dark empaths have two mindsets. Selflish and selfless. I rate highly on the scale for this, relating to much of everything. But i use my knowledge of others to make them happy. If liked myself itd be a dif story, but life hates me so why would i not

Never having happy parents, having a brother who hated me for being born (lets not get too far into that), having an ex marine dad who is unemotional and sees crying and depression as weakness. A mother who does everything she can for herself, insisting its to help others. Just imagine the emotional stability of a child like that. First memory i was alone, and with my mindset ik damn right its better to be alone. Like you said, despite what i say i aint a good person. I take personal pleasure in doings things for others hoping one day i come across one that would want to do the same. Growing up ive only wanted one thing. Love. And even now, ive never asked and have rejected many. Telling lies such as i have a small pp (bein dead serious, eye contact all that) to get others who didnt like my personality to leave me alone. I am not okay, i realize that. Emotional pain is far worse than physical. But its life :)

Hey guys don't always take dark empaths wrong always .... Sometimes they were humiliated and brought down or traumatized first and being dark empaths they might just try to calm there inner self and that thrist to cancel the effect of that humiliation which they in their own mind think that it won't and is not affecting them but it actually is so they just wanna get the feeling of again being at the top forget the humiliation .... If you find one , you might just wanna ignore them but maybe you can try to calm them .... They will love you for that genuinely 💓

But then when I realise I sit and analyse,I find I was just trying to avoid a situation that occurred before and shattered me in a way .... So after I just try not to feel the same and try that no one should think that I am last or worst .... Just that .... Don't wanna put anyone down .... Agreed, we don’t have the same compulsions as purely Dark Triad types who basically can’t help themselves. That’s one of their weaknesses that make them easy to manipulate. You can count on them being themselves. Whereas we have much more of a choice despite our inclinations.
