@@kennycarter5682 I found that the balloon disintegrates after rising 300 feet. It happens every time. Every transport device had a range. Hover bikes and hoverboards last the longest.

The fans, the steering stick, Link all have a pretty clear weight. Fans can push themselves around but they are inherently imbalanced - if you lay one face down it won't go straight up. But besides there just being weight to contend with, there is also drag. The physics system is impressively sophisticated, so much so that there are whole articles written about it already. The fans aren't "fraudulent" as much as the simulation itself has a ton of variables.

Yeah, the goblin glider or hoverbike was discovered pretty early on as the most meta OP vehicle. It's easy to control, fast, very cheap on zonaite and is super efficient with batteries. 2 fans and control stick is about as simple as it can get while still being very practical.

@DoppelhanderCool Logically, in the sense of travel, you would be right. However, if you were doing A to B travel multiple times and nothing more, then the quad is actually losing put overall. They both tie on distance and battery used per your testing. That means they are equal, and that variable can be canceled out. The remaining variable is the zonaite. The hoverbike costs 9, but your quad, assuming 4 fans and a stick is 6 zonaite more expensive per autobuild at 15. In 2 builds, you could have had an extra hoverbike and 1/3rd. So, practicality aside, the quad is less efficient overall. If you were to use it situationally for hauling and stuff, sure, but that's the only advantage it has. I'm not telling you how to play, just that the math doesn't sustain your build when using it for flying only, which is the intended purpose of these builds in the first place.

There is definitely a weight system. I tried to make an air ship out of a boat (those existing wooden boats) and whether I had 20 on the bottom or extended out like wings, I couldn't get it to leave the ground... or water. Never mind about the battery, I was going to worry about that later; the only way to get that ship in the air was by attaching a Hover Stone. And then you could only move the ship one burst at a time with rockets.

I saw a video of someone testing something like this. It's more about pros and cons of hover bike vs goblin glider vs tri-fan vs quad. They attached a zonai cooking pot on the 2 fan ones and it wouldn't even lift off. The quad one was fine though. They didn't do that test on the tri-fan one. For speed, they were mostly the same.

The conclusion I arrived at was 2 fans with a steering stick between them tilted at 45 degrees, then in neutral position you go forward, if you hold forward you will actually go down slowly and that’s important in a world where you can’t control fan throttle Edit, exactly what you did at the end

@Pengochan

Each fan has to lift it's own weight, so there's a limit of thrust/weight ratio you can't get past. Also the lift force could decrease with upwards velocity (reaching zero when reaching the velocity of the air stream of the fan). My bet would be that somewhere between two or three would be the most battery efficient with respect to simple height. The thing with your "measurement" is, that you first have the time from the charge, then the juice of the batteries, so the numbers are quite specific to that method. Measuring the height gained from the charge and then the additional height from battery would be more informative. Note that there is also definitely an acceleration phase at the start, i wonder what else figures in the physics engine (ground effect, wind resistance). There are some one fan builds with additional stabilizing elements like korok leaves.

If you're just going for height to glide from, drop a spear, stick it upright on the back edge of a control stick, then place a fan pointing down directly above the platform. Your weight will be centered under the fan so it stays mostly stable. Great for ascending, but can't be controlled easily because it rotates a lot. When you're ready to jump just release control, turn around and take your spear back.

I think the main appeal for the hotair balloon is if you can get a candle out of a shrine. It gives you permanent lift so you can rest your battery... But unless it's a specific type of build with heavy drainage... eh. (I do have one saved to auto-build just incase xD have used it like twice.) 2 Fans + Control Stick are just crazy efficient and decently quick. I have both the goblin glider and the Hover Bike builds saved (and a hoverbike with a rocket attached) depending on my needs. I'll use the glider when moving Koroks around or something, and the hoverbike while moving between sky islands or the depths.

The balloons are great because you can just... not use a flame emitter and they don't cost power. However, this becomes almost entirely a moot point once you actually upgrade your energy wells to max and/or learn how the recall recharge exploit works. If you want the super easy and simple all-around useful flying device though... Full hot air ballon (top and bottom) with a steering stick at the entrance, powered by a fire or a torch, with 4 fans. You can even add a turret to the bottom and still have the power to carry a korok with you.
@empplayz
@empplayz 11 месяцев назад
Well, it makes sense if you think about it, fans are just a way of pushing something, and that push is not directly proportional to the speed at that you go up, a good example is the wheels on a car the more wheel you have (that are spun by the engine) doesn't mean the faster you go, two wheels is better than one because you haven't exceeded the weight to speed to force ratio, but adding more and more wheels eventually will exceed the limit of which you are seeing an increase, eventually the weight might start to exceed the good and you will start making backwards progression. Hope that made sense! Also thanks to anyone who even took the time to read that whole thing. xD

You can get absolutely crazy height if you have enough balloons, rockets, zonai charges, large zonai flame emitters and batteries. So much you have to do is one get a big levitating platforms you find and you strap four balloons on each corner and you put a flame emitter in the balloons and either make so you have a ton of batteries or large charges and you put rockets on side of the corners and then activate and just keep repeating the process without adding the rockets and just keep doing it either until you run out of capsules or you get to the height that you want to. I've made it to the rito Temple before I even activated the quest. Happy breaking the game

The reason is because actual weight drag vs energy drain coefficient is factored in. They made it so the lighter weight benefit along with energy consumption beats the output multiplier of additional fans. I also think there is a diminishing return to number of rockets. For example, you will gain more altitude on a weightless cube platform by burning one rocket at a time while leaving the others unattached vs attaching all-say a dozen, at once.

I made a 5 fan flying machine based on the common 2 fan design. But I put 3 fans in a triangle pattern on the front's level and two side by side on the back's level in a shape similar to some 5 fan star-shaped drones. It is super controllable. I think it's because of the distance between the two front fans compared to the closeness of the two back fans.
@rayhiros
@rayhiros Год назад
There is a weight system, the fans are there to negate the weight of other materials, but the more fans you add the more energy you need. That is why less fans are bring you higher. Because they don't need to negate to much weight and need less energy. I don't know the exact ratio, but this example helps to understand how it is done: 1 Fan = Negate 1 point of weight but cost 1,5 points of Energy 1 Fan = -1w+1,5e 2 Fans = -2w+3e 4 Fans = -4w+6e And the more energy you need the less height you get.

I use the bi-coptor (two fans at 45 degrees on the front and back of a steering stick) almost exclusively to move around in the game. I have some hover stone/beam emitter/construct head build for dealing with Lynels I saw on another channel, it's pretty good but absolutely drains batteries, I have all but 3 cells until I'm full-blue and it's almost drained out after dealing with a silver-maned lynel. Much like breath of the wild, there is a lot you can do, but at least for me, I end up relying on what works the best/most efficiently to get a task done. I have three favorites in autobuild, two are utilitarian, the third is the baby colossal fossil I use to make fun/pointless vehicles.
@dxjxc91

It basically comes down to all devices have a speed limit. Adding more devices can't increase the speed past that limit, but it does increase the amount of weight it can move at that limit. Multiple rockets/balloons does not increase the height you get to before they expire. In the air the whole build's max speed is the highest speed of individual devices. On land, the max speed is lowest speed (so mixing wheels or adding fans to cars does not give a benefit).

So only ever add as much Fans as you need to lift off from the ground, everything else is just a negative. Also, Balloons are much more usefull if you also add a torch or something underneath it. The Flame Emitter will create a big flame to increase the speed of ascend, and the torches make it so that once you run out of energy, you will still climb, levitate or at least not fall down as fast until your energy is recharged again,

The minimalistisk design is to put something like a broom, vertically, on the back of the stick controller and one fan, pointing down, on the top back of the broom.

speed: more fans energy efficiency: less fans more height but slower: less fans less height but faster: more fans this is what I learned from the video.
@HelloHamburger
@HelloHamburger Год назад
You can get more height by using your battery then consuming the large energy charge when your battery is almost fully drained (otherwise, it will start to fall and take a sec to restart. Losing efficiency and wasting battery.) That way, it completely restores your battery and keeps you from consuming battery for a bit. You get 2 full battery uses and then also in between an infinite energy source for some time. Super useful item. You could technically fly practically infinitely with a bunch of em. Minus the fact they eventually despawn after 30-45 min of continuous use.

The balloons is good if you replace the flame emitters with burning wood. When you run out of energy, it stays afloat this you recharge your batteries

The same thing exists with rockets, no matter how many you put on something it’ll only go so far after putting so many of them on
@stoopidhaters

The only ways to make a Rocket go faster is better fuel and more fuel. More fuel increases Top Speed, Run Time and better Fuel increases the Acceleration but since Burn Time will be shorter, run time will decrease.

I don't have a capture card to show everything, but I had fun testing the weight/mass physics with different configurations of rockets and boulders... 😸 I also ragdolled myself a few times when they flipped on launch 🙀😹

Unless I'm toting a shrine crystal, the control stick with angled fans on the sides, is all I've ever used. 🙂

hmmm, maybe it's legitimately simulating air resistance? so the additional thrust you need to get the same additional speed goes up like cubically or something?

You can use one fan, but you'll need to balance it out. Korok leaves or what ever those things are can work, and don't weigh much.

you can do one fan just attach a wooden mop to the back of the steering stick at the bottom of the mop attach something to help make it balance and not fall while on the ground i recommend a dragon scale, at the top of the broom just above the scale attach your fan.

Fans have a controlled speed like wheels- more fans with the same air output won't make it faster....but more fans can lift more WEIGHT. That's the difference...and obviously your link weighs the same in each test

Use small charges to gain yellow battery, wait until your green battery is all but out to apply the large charge, and you can go higher.

The balloons suck when incomplete, which is always if you’re only using zoni devices. I just got a schema stone that taught me you can attach torches to balloons. (Now I’d just need to figure out side way thrust without tipping and I’d have an even better flying machine.

I like a nice simple vehicle: a balloon, a basket, a fan, and a steering stick, with a torch or candle to provide the flame so you can recharge battery without dropping. One minor issue is that it’s always going up; that hasn’t really been a problem for my usage of it but I imagine you could just add some weight to it or angle the fan downward some to offset some lift.

A hover bike 1 front 2 back. Add 1 more fan front 2 back to upgrade speed and lift power/speed as your battery gets bigger.
@Kram1032

There is an exponential curve to the energy draw and also, afaik, to the power output. I.e. three wheels, say, take twice the power of one, but they also are giving you twice the power output of a single wheel or something like that, while also weighing more, etc. (I'm not sure that's the exact numbers, but it's something like that, and it was an important concession to make the battery drain of 1 active part vs 20 active parts not utterly ludicrous. Without this system, either you get nigh infinite battery from a single active device right away, or even at fully upgraded batteries, a 20 active device creation draws power way too quickly.

MAX Fans Charge (330) Max Height with 3 1/3 (416) 6 Fans Charge (312) Max Height with 3 1/3 cells (485) So basically more Fans will you get up higher quicker if you don't mind using Big Zonai Charges.
