@@ajaiakaoaosnaiansjaoanskak I didn't know they had this service available in the US, but in Korea there are post partum clinics that many moms go to for recovery. Traditionally the other female family members pitched in with the food preparation and aftercare for the new mother. I can remember my grandma and aunties coming over all the time with miyukkuk and other korean dishes for my mom after she had my younger siblings. Also language-wise older female figures are often called, "imo/이모" (pronounced ee-mo) which means Auntie. Even if you aren't related. Older ladies in the service industry are also called imo.

same with indian culture, first 40 days after postpartum are taken very seriously. Hot nutritious meals are made for the mum. Regular warm oil massages and special herb baths are given to mum and the baby Mum doesn't do any household chores like cooking, cleaning etc. Honestly it breaks my heart looking at how American policies treat new mothers :(

The mother's body and health is so important after labor. In my Hmong culture, we have a 30 day- strict boiled chicken and herbs dish to eat. It helps cleanse our body. We focus on just the baby and ourselves. The mother doesn't do any hard labor such as cooking, cleaning as she needs to focus on her health and mental cause it's so important. Congratulations Jenn!

I love seeing this type of care being presented I think often in America it’s like “okay well mom is home alone with baby now we go back to work” but taking time to care and nurture a new mom especially when needed is so vital. I have seen many maybe not visit the baby but drop off homade food and small baby gifts and stuff to new moms along with things like “if you need help when you are ready let us know !” And it’s heartwarming

This video makes me so emotional I had to comment. It is so incredibly beautiful to see how Korean culture takes care of postpartum mother’s. I remember my postpartum and I barely ate or drank anything, stopped taking my vitamins, adversely effected my recovery and breastfeeding my baby. I felt so depressed. So incredibly important to help mama look after herself so she can look after baby. It may be unusual to say about a food video but seeing a mama being cherished and taken care of postpartum is a beautiful special thing! 💖

What a lucky lady, I wish every new mama can get look altered this well. I live in the uk and the first months of postnatal is also very important for my Chinese culture. However, all my families are still in China. My British mother-in-law who came to our house to “help” after I gave birth to my son. All she did was watching TV, listening to music, chatting to my husband who supposed to help me looking after baby. Well, she made me 2 cups of tea and 1 meal in a whole day. And telling me to not eat too much when I was making myself some toast, so I don’t “spoil the dinner” (the only meal she made for the whole day)…. I happily said goodbye to her few days later when she finally left. I’m so glad you’ve been looked after so well. Xx

I grew up with one of my childhood best friends being Korean & fell in love with the food & culture. Her & I have drifted away but growing up in my teens & 20’s watching your journey, it helps remind me of my love for Korean food & I try to incorporate it into my life as often as possible! I would love to practice this postpartum care into my future pregnancy, and veganize a lot of Korean dishes you’ve eaten! This is beautiful 💖

I am not korean or any where near pregnant but being an Asian, these post partum meals look absolutely delicious, comforting and familiar. Been a fan of you since i am in college and now i am 27, it feels like we are "growing up" together. I always like listening to your voice. The way you speak is so soothing and you do everything with grace. Congratulations on being a mother. You are amazing, Jenn.

There’s also similar post-partum care in Malaysia where the mother, mother-in-law or grandmother prep the food, apply concoction of medicinal herbs on the body or massages…there’s a paid service too like what Jenn is using. It allows the mother to recover and by having good food, massages, the mother feel taken care of and decreases the chance of having post-partum depression.

As a fellow malaysian I thought of the exact thing! Every culture from Malay to Chinese to Indian households have this same practice and it warms my heart to know that many different cultures place importance for the momma to be healthy and taken care of, aside from just care for the little one.

I think this is just part of asian culture, not only we need to eat all the herbs and healthy foods, we need also to massage our body, bathing and put many kind of herbs to our body. Wearing some sort of "corset" to get back in shape..nowadays, many people hire "confinement lady" to help mom n baby to take care all of these things.

@@nurulaziz4832 Also in the Hispanic culture, after giving birth they call it a quarantine because for 40 days we have to take really good care of our body, and our moms or whoever looks out for you cooks you healthy warm meals and meals that will increase your milk supply and they wrap your tummy everyday to make sure you are compressing your stomach muscles, etc

In Nigeria and I think most African cultures, the grandma takes care of the new born for several weeks. If the grandma isn’t available aunties or family friends will do it. The grandma will also cook for the mom and the family. Basically taking the stress away from the mother until she’s fully recovered.

If it’s possible, I love you and your content even more now as I feel like you’re truly being comfortable in your skin and to keep going when things get a little uncertain. In all of your phases, each as beautiful, I genuinely wish you and your family all the happiness and blessings, just as much as I receive the same from your videos ❤️ congratulations on being a mother and turning 31!

I love how calming your videos are. Like your voice and smile just make me really enjoy watching your videos. Whenever I’m stressed while doing homework, I just put on one of your food videos which ends up being the best kind of background noise. I’m so excited for your baby and the life you will give them. Couldn’t think of 2 better people to be parents! +I’ve been shopping at my local Asian market a hella lot more now because of you! Gotta try everything you make because it just seems so tasty😊

"Cabbage is a very Korean vegetable". ㅋㅋㅋ. In Korean, it's call 양배추 which means "western cabbage". Cabbage from the west, because Koreans typically grew and used a different kind of cabbage until westerners brought over the green cabbage that Americans are accustomed to.

very Japanese vegetable too! I think Japanese use it in their daily cooking more than Koreans do actually. It's pretty much their staple ingredient. While Koreans use more often as a garnish or ingredients for some savory dishes.

@@greyghost3771 How very Japanese of you. Why are you trying to compete with Korean cuisine? Koreans use this daily and we don't care what Japanese people do. This is Jenn's video about her Korean meals.
