I've been eating gluten free and dairy free for more than 5 years now, and I can tell for sure that sometimes even if you cut certain categories of food it's not going to help much. The best way to do it - is completely avoid packaged foods, as they often contain additives and cross-reactive ingredients (gums, flavors, seasonings, preservatives, sulfites, modified starches, and other GMO derived ingredients which damages your intestinal flora). Personally for me, cooking from scratch helped me identify exactly what I was reacting to. A whole30 diet is the best way to start, then you can gradually convert to your own personalized diet.
I've just been diagnosed as having IBS so I need to get used to eating gluten and dairy free now. I rarely cook not from scratch so that's not much of a problem. Did your food shopping get much more expensive or was it only by a little bit, because the difference in price for things like milk is massive, 70c a litre compared to €2.40 a litre.
@@sponge260 I try to limit most of substitutions and just eat real food; whenever I want a dairy free milk I just make it at home and freeze smaller batches (in ice cubes).
Couldn't agree more. I have celiac disease and can't eat anything with dairy in it. I try my hardest to eat nothing but fruits veggies and local sourced meats. I do have cheat days though but for the most part that's become a way of life for me and even my husband and little ones.
@@sponge260 it becomes expensive when you buy all the vegan/gluten free snacks and if you can't eat meat from big stores like I can't then that does add up. My best advice is 1 learning portion control. I get chicken breast from a local butcher. I'll cut them in 4ths and each piece is what I eat with dinner. Might not seem like enough but you'd be surprised when you pair it with like a full serving of veggies or like sweet potatoes it's plenty (listen to your body if it's saying it's not enough and adjust as needed) and 2 something that works for us is when we do shop at the big box store we stick with the essentials milk eggs rice pasta ect. You find that those little essential products get you pretty far with a meal. And 3rd allow yourself a cheat day. For us its pretty much every Sunday. Well have a nice fat burger with fries and then treat our selves to ice cream at the end of the day. This is something I've always believed in. Especially having a problem that limits what you can eat. It gets hard watching every one around you eating what they want so having that one day that you get to indulge eases that and helps to where you won't binge eat whatever you want.
Oh my God yes!! I'm so glad someone else sees the correlation of gluten and PCOS!! Why is this never spoken about? I've been gf since Nov 2018 and I got pregant twice (after struggling with loss) and my period came back regularly
Inflammation from food IS big problem. I cut out all my food I was reacting to (dairy and all egg products..ect) everyone at work was asking me “how much weight have you lost?” When I didn’t lose any weight, that’s how bloated and inflamed my body was from eating them every day! Keep up the good work!! Love the meals!
Hi, can you tell me what protein you have instead of egg? I have just started a gluten and dairy free diet. I have still been eating eggs, I don't know why I never thought of them as dairy.
Thank you so much for posting this. I just got diagnosed with gluten intolerance/celiac, dairy “intolerance,” and severe dehydration. It has been so hard. I’ve felt so unnormal or alone & this video made me feel like I can maybe start to find foods I love again... thank you
I've had celiac/gluten issues for almost ten years now and lactose issues for around 5. I know this is a year old post but I remember feeling so lost when I first started because there's SO MUCH you have to learn that isn't gluten free and you have to be so careful with eating out and etc but it really does get easier over time. And you're definitely not alone. It's sooooo widespread these days.
Just here to say Celiac and gluten intolerance are not interchangeable. I’m gluten and lactose intolerant I can tolerate small amounts of gluten without too much issue, if I have a lot of gluten I get bloated and start getting rashes on my legs, I’ve been Celiac tested and not Celiac, if I mix gluten & lactose together I’ll be up all night with diarrhoea and vomiting. I have a colleague who isCeliac who if she has even a small amount of gluten will have IBS and flu like symptoms for weeks afterwards.
I eat antiinflammatory diet. Dairy, soy, eggs, grain free, soy free. Going grain free helped me the most. I mostly eat meat and veggies. For a treat I eat simple truth organic dark chocolate, you can add almond butter too.
I am trying this to reduce my severe bloating, i am curious however to know what you eat for breakfast ? I eat buckwheat bread and chia pudding, not sur if buckwheat is ok ?
I’m going gluten and dairy free bc that’s what’s setting off my IBS and making me feel so bloated at the same time and I found your RU-vid channel looking forward to learning from you 🙂
YOU LOOK STUNNING how do you look so pretty without hair done, makeup or a "pretty" outfit? Absolute goals Edit: thank you Cody for the dinner directions! We love supportive boyfriends for our girls 💕💕
I am gluten and dairy free. If you are looking for a gluten free oat milk, I highly suggest Oatley Barista. Califia also makes a gf barista blend, and I go for that if Oatley isn't available. All the best of health to you!
genuinely such a beautiful couple - the day an engagement or wedding video is posted I’ll actually cry. also I’m off to the naturopath next month and this has been absolutely amazing to kind of prepare the questions I’ll have for her and things I might want to try🥰
Aw thank you 💕 It's always such a great idea to have a list of questions before hand!! I always keep a running note in my phone with them for my appointments. Glad you're enjoying this content and find it helpful!! 🙌🏻
Gluten free is not a good idea it will make you gain way more fat and most gluten free food doesn’t taste good if you don’t believe watch Ann Readon’ (how to cook that) s video about is gluten free making you fat please believe me!
Dr. Gundry really helped me because I’m lactose/gluten intolerant and still felt sick 😷… actually fasting in morning and not eating until 1 or 2 in afternoon really helped me
i needed this in my feed. i recently found out i have psoriasis and have switched to this exact type of diet but i have been finding it so hard on what i can actually eat. ❤️
I know how you feel! I tend to keep eating the same few things in rotation and then get bored of them after awhile. I've been getting a lot of inspo from the Minimalist Baker if you're looking for another recipe resource! ✨
@@paytonelizabeth6033 there are no sugar added options from So delicious too! at my grocery store they offer bigger tubs of unsweetened plain (green tub) and vanilla (purple), both have added calcium and vit d too! :)
I liked this video she was real and raw. I’ve been dairy free and haven’t had meat in 8 days no added sugar and also only drinking water since i have EOE ( esophagus issues) and I already feel less bloated and not having tight skin and have been feeling much better
Love that you’re eating less dairy and that it’s making you feel good! I feel like I need to incorporate apple cider vinegar as well bc I get bloated A LOT as well. Are you allowed to eat beans or would that potentially be too high in fibre/bloat inducing? I've loved adding beans to my diet and has opened my eyes to SO many recipes so would love to see that!
I just started doing sugar, dairy, gluten and yeast free after a really bad inflammation flare up and I'm loving it. The only sugar I get is from my multivitamin gummies and that's less than a teaspoon a day.
My husband almost called the ambulance on me after taking a shot of this. So, you’re a trooper for being able to take it down at ALL! But I fear what it’s doing to your tummy
Are you talking about a shot of Apple Cider as it is best just to have a teaspoon of it in. boiling water and a slice of lemon, wait to drink it luke warn. That is the best way to drink it, 45 minutes after you wake up.
I've had celiac disease for nearly 15 years & some oat milks are gluten-free!! I can't remember which brand but there are definitely gluten-free oat milks available in BC ❤️
@@marlierhodes I was diagnosed with celiac disease 15 years ago & share tons of gf stuff on my blog (@cassidyyhannah) shoot me a message if you ever have questions or want recommendations 😘😘😘
Oats have an actual gluten in them called avenin so most ppl with celiac like me can't have them at all also rice, corn and more has its own gluten that all mimic the same protein.. celiacs should go all grain free at first then add things in.. Hope that helps someone still wondering why they have a reaction still to some foods
Thank you for this video. I’m currently sitting at my table eating a second bowl of Cheerios, starving and emotional, wondering how I will get through a gf and df diet for the rest of my life. Really needed the meal inspiration from this. Also to hear there’s another person who is happy eating like I am
Hi, cheerios aren't actually gluten free. The box says it but they're all made with oats. There's lots of research from gluten free groups and celiac disease groups that do not eat cheerios and they are trying to boycott the fact that cheerios puts gluten free on their boxes.
Cheerios are less then 10 parts per million, the FDA says anything less then 20 parts per million is GF. if it's an intolerance you might not notice, if it's celiac disease it is still there causing damage.
So happy you mentioned about oat milk not being gluten free because I saw someone was buying it and I thought for a change from almond or cashew milk. Interested in the fish oil because of the bloating. Loving your whole video. Thanks for all the information.
Hi, have you looked into endometriosis? The reason I ask is because I had to go gluten free because I kept having flareups, bloating, fatigue etc. Turns out I have endometriosis.
You came across my feed. Thanks for your video. I'm realizing that I gotta go gluten free and I am kinda nervous. Thanks for being realistic about things...lol... Also side note, I would LOVE to see a makeup tutorial of the face when you were in the car. Thanks beautiful lady!
I'm not happy you're having to go through the restrictiveness but it does make me happy seeing people that have to eat with similar restrictions to me because it makes me feel less strange. I'm also so glad that I could help about the oat milk! Don't feel bad, I didn't know until I reacted to it and I still have to check at coffee shops and restaurants because they sometimes don't think about it.
not to be rude but why are you guys going through the restrictions? was it a medical thing because i’ve been going through grief with my stomach and i’m not sure what to do
Yes it’s a medical thing for me too! Trying to see what causes some of my digestion problems and acne. At this point we are pretty sure I have a slight intolerance and the only way to know is to remove things from my diet. Definitely doesn’t mean I’m never going to eat these things again, it just means I can be more aware of how my body will react to certain foods.
After you transition is made in your pantry its a lot easier! Switch for rice, potatoes, quinoa, gluten free pasta, gluten free flour, etc! If you understand french, i have easy gluten free and vegan recipies on my chanel 😀
Thank you for teaching me a new recipe. I love that you made this dairy free. I ditched dairy and now I make dairy free recipes and videos too. I hope we can learn more from each other. I’m thankful to be able to learn from your talent and skills.
Unfortunately I can't eat most of this either since I'm allergic to coconut an am extremely picky (with stomach issues making it hard to eat much). But it did give me good ideas for how I can change your ideas. This was a really interesting video. Also so sweet that your boyfriend/husband cooked for you and even recorded it. He is so sweet ❤
Was looking for gluten & dairy free recipes, and happened to click on your video. I just had to subscribe once I seen that microwave dance :D Thanks for the content!
The silk site mentions the Oat Yeah creamer being gluten free. Not all oats are gluten free bc of cross contamination issues but you can check the box and it will usually say :3
You mentioned this is an amti inflammatory diet. A lot of the things you're eating have lots of sugar in them. Curious what your daily intake of sugar is..
id like to remind people that if you are not gluten free and lactose intolerant please don't buy a hole bunch of gluten free and lactose intolerant things. Some things are fine but things like milk bread and etc it can be very annoying when the only food you can eat is sold out because people are getting something they don't need. but then again its completely your choice.
Actual doctors have said NEVER take apple cider by itself without mixing it into another liquid!! So dangerous to do! I hope you did not mess up your guts girl! Just found your channel, new subscriber. But yes I would be very wary of doing that it's not really safe to do 😬
Love that you shared your journey, I am DF but now going GF after getting a food sensitivities rest! Excited to try some of brands you shared. Especially the bagels. I use a really great brand of fish oil if you're interested in trying it out let me know I can share it with you 👍🏻
Eggs make me the saddest not to eat 😭 I only eat them about once a week now, but I used to eat them everyday like you! Maybe one day we can get back to eating them more cus it’s such an easy breakfast
Oats are naturally gluten free. The only problem is that there is a risk for cross contamination. I have POTS, I'm dairy and gluten intolerant and have been dairy free/gluten free for 4-5 years now. I eat So Delicious ice cream that is made with oat milk and I don't have any issues! So I believe some brands are safe. I also want to say for those with chronic health conditions, it may benefit you to remove most carbs from your diet. I consume very little carbs and it's always from fruit and vegetables (unless I'm treating myself with ice cream) It keeps my heart rate and blood pressure in check. I also get less adrenaline rushes now. It's crazy how much your diet effects how you feel!
It’s very interesting to see how my body is less bloated after eliminating (where possible) all gluten and lactose from my meals. I’ve started a new cooking series to help me and others along the way. I do miss the real thing but it’s a step in the right direction 🙂
Oats are naturally gluten free; however, during the harvest, processing, and packaging cycles, gluten can be introduced from the machines that a company used for non-gluten free product like rye.
and still, oats contain some protein similar to gluten which can cause problems to some people anyway. So even without gluten it can do something to you.. but that change isn't that big
I've just been diagnosed with IBS, so as of now, I can't eat dairy or gluten without getting cramps and feeling sick. Out of curiosity, how much more expensive has your food shopping been in general. Did you see a significant price increase, as in $20+, Or was it only a few dollars hear and there?
I have ulcerative colitis since 2014 when I was diagnosed. Since then I have learned what are my trigger symptoms are and dairy happens to be one of them. I try to eat dairy free as much as I can when I eat at home. If I want to eat something that is not dairy free I try to make sure it is at least gluten-free when I eat at home. Also I used to be a vegetarian from April 2017 to September 2020. I went back to eating meat again but only certain meats due to my doctors orders. I was never told by a doctor or a specialist that I needed to go gluten-free or dairy free. I just do these things on my own. I have been told I needed to follow the low FODMap Diet or the Specific carbohydrate diet also known as a SCD diet. I have not followed either one of these diets. And because I did not follow the SCD diet like my doctor wanted me to I now have to have another updated colonoscopy (my last one was two years ago) to decide which medicine I should take either Remicade or Humira. I found your video to be helpful because I’m trying to become more strict with eating gluten-free and dairy free when at home.
seriously love all your vids! where did you notice the most flair-ups?? & i really appreciate you taking us on this journey w/ you and explaining how you're feeling and what the dietician recommends! OH & the gluten free oatmeal cookies are at marshalls & home goods too! Just thought I'd share since IK you shop there a lot! PS love when cody joins lol
Thank you so much!! I definitely should have mentioned these in the video but my biggest flair-ups come in the form of bloating, acne and I have IBS. So cute 💁🏼♀️ I will definitely keep and eye out for them when I'm shopping at those places, thanks for the tip! 🙌🏻
Taking apple cider vinegar straight in a shot is great for your stomach but not great for your throat, it can burn your throat so it's always a good idea to just mix in some water to dilute it a bit. And unfortunately even "gluten free" oats will affect people who are sensitive to gluten because oats has a protein in it that is similar to gluten and essentially mimics gluten.
Thinking of taking dairy out of my diet as well! Thank you for the video. :) I am actually breaking out more than usual around the same areas that it looks like you are (jawline/chin area); what supplement did she suggest taking for skin if you don't mind me asking?
So the few I'm taking kind of work in combination I believe to treat my skin (along with the diet) Mainly I think the fish oil is the one that is currently treating my skin. The one that didn't work for me was Halo Beauty Kiwi Seed Booster, but I tried the HUM skin hero pre & probiotic for one month and it did a really great job. It's kind of all trial and error with supplements but those are the ones I've recently used specifically for my skin! 🤗
I think oats would only have a trace amount of gluten in them because the gluten is from wheat that "accidentally" grew up with the oats. Oats themselves don't have gluten, I think. So the gluten free ones are just farmed more carefully to be sure that no wheat has sprouted among the oats.
I’m doing a lowcarb (kinda keto) lifestyle and IF (no dinner as I notice I sleep better if I don’t have dinner). If I may ask how was your keto experience? Are you changing your woe because of digestive issues? Thank you and greetings from Spain.
All oats are naturally gluten free. The only things that wouldn’t make them GF is if they come in contact with gluten in the way they are stored or processed.
I have suffered from acne all of my adult life ( 64) coffee can definitely cause it☹️we are all different but the one coffee that doesn’t cause it for me that I can make at home is Starbucks veranda blend, best wishes
OMG!! @Mikayla Greenwood I love your video's. I've been getting sick of milk and when i go to caribou i usually got almost or coconut milk in my coffee. I wanted to try something different and it was dairy free. YAY!
Useful video. Thanks for that. But why do you open the fridge and don’t close it after.. if you show a product you could close it. So it keeps cold and need less energy
Have you tried the RYZE coffee mushroom coffee. It’s working for me. I don’t feel bloated and stomach issues. As bad. I’m gluten free and dairy free as well.
