I buy flagships so the powerful processor can do everyday tasks easily and smoothly without heating or lagging and will be able to catch with years of major software updates without the hardware being outdated. Also, a powerful cpu will be more power efficient doing everyday tasks, whereas a mid or low cpu will be pushing its limits to.
Doesn’t this phone do most tasks easily and slowly? I understand that if you game or do lots of demanding tasks maybe but surely the Pixel 8 pro works fine for everyday use. I use phones for basic use and for photography.
@@garner145 yep.. it will do any basic stuff quickly, smoothly etc. I have the P7P, and it's extremely fluid. It can get warm during some things, but otherwise I've never had it prematurely close apps or slow down. AVG Screen on time for me is 6 hours 1.5 years into using it. Can't please everyone 😂
Ye ? Well bad news for you broski... better chip is not just faster, its better for camera , scrolling stutters and device heat and last ,but not least the efficiency which is also laughable. You see a phone that uses their OWN software and its created by them with bigger mah batteries can barely last like a phone with 3800 battery. It is a dogshit exactly because they refuse to use the best manufacturer in the game and thats Qualcomm. No excuse to price it like flagship, but put a mid range "heart "inside. I never game on phones myself , but good enough is not a phrase u want to use when they charge you like other brands that put only the best inside their products period.
@@g.g.2359idk what you are talking about,I used "stronger" devices then the pixel 6 and they had a bunch of stutters and shitty cameras, while I have no hiccups in terms of performance on my pixel.
@@g.g.2359 I never said the efficiency was good enough for me. As much as I like my Pixel, the efficiency isn't good. It's warm/hot when I'm barely doing anything. Contemplating switching to the S24 Plus instead of the 8 Pro, even though in my heart I prefer Pixel.
A lot more goes on in the background with faster processors that you don't notice until you use them. Everything is slower on my Pixel compared to the S23 Ultra (app switching, core app loading, animations, etc), to the point that its actually annoying. Not to mention the fact that faster processors *process faster* meaning they are inherently more efficient since they are running at higher speeds and power for less time. Also other mobile CPUs have extra chips on them to help things like AI and camera processing and stuff (which was the whole reason google switched to using their own anyway. And I guess to be more like Apple and hopefully have a perfect android phone with perfect optimization). So yeah the Pixel 8 Pro is decent enough in most cases but you definitely notice the lack of efficiency and power pretty much all the time. Its a Galaxy A55 competitor with flagship cameras.
@@Involvement82 both samsung and apple are overpriced. In my country i can get 7 pro for 475 dollars and that last gen vs s22 for 560 dollars and that is 2 gen behind and is same speed (exynos 2200) speed is not every thing. Software makes it worth it and as low 750dollars for the basa model is not much vs samsung 1299 and appels 1199 . 500-600 dollars more for a faster chip and a worse camera in some aspects and software features.
Don't do it lol just got my android and I'm SOOOO much happier lol I don't even use my 15 pro no more. The new iphones look good but their not good. Camera is worst too for front facing than the 11 pro max I had @@wizzohizzo
As a P8 pro owner since the pre-order, I would disagree about cpu power. Benchmark numbers don't mean anything because the phone doesn't lag in anything or any operation you throw at him
Yeah obviously such an expensive phone won't lag doing everyday tasks. But for hardcore users who game and the phone's performance over the years when heavy software updates slow it down benchmarks matter
Honestly, who freaking CARES about benchmarks at this point? It's such an utterly pointless non-argument. No one cares if Geekbench got 200 more points as you're scrolling through IG or TikTok or uploading your latest photo of your cup of coffee.
Benchmarks differences between a17 pro and snapdragon 8 gen 3 might not be a big deal….but tensor g3 is just straight up obliterated by the competition….it’s not a few hundred points difference, it’s half the a17 pro…..obviously when yer spending $1k, you will most likely expect your smartphone to do much more than just scrolling through TikTok, and that my friend, is not pixel’s piece of cake
Charging speeds are stupid. Same with Samsung. Why they don't embrace the fast charging technology is beyond me. Especially for the cost. I got OnePlus. Charging up to 50 percent I. Less than 20mins
Samsung Galaxy Ultra devices offer the fastest charging speeds in comparison to IPhones (25 watts) and google pixel pros (27 watts) The ultra devices offer 45 watt charging. Very quick imo
@@Compulsive-Elk7103That 45w is only for the 1st 50% or 30mins of charge. In a charging speed test it wasn't much faster compared to the 25w brick and at the end even charged slower compared to 25w of charging. Samsung's 45w is not the same as other brands 45w.
@@Compulsive-Elk7103 Go look at chinese phones. They're doing 90w 120w which do 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes. Samsung is dogwater compare to that. Especially being a couple hundred dollars more expensive.
i have a google pixel 6a not the newest but i don't have any of these problems with battery life and other stuff... That things run like a boss for 10ish hours in full use "videos while sleeping" and daylie use no problem, and it gets a full charge in an hour @w@
What do you mean charging is slow? The pixel literally has the fastest wireless charging speed of any modern smartphone, and pretty decent wired charging speed...
@@zezeti2246 nah. Phones get better and better with each update. People complain or the developers test the software and then they send an update to fix all the issues. Some issues take more than 1 update. And phones are usually half baked when they first come out. It takes anywhere from 6 months to a year of updates for it to be fully functional and working properly.
Tensor is also doing a lot more than just raw power, which is much more important imo. None of the other flagships have something as simple as call screening for example.
With android being a google platform, it's surprising that it's hardware isn't perfectly optimized to blow the competition out of the water with it's own OS.
Finally someone comes out against the battery!!!! I've had my 8 pro for about 2 weeks now and the battery is just not good. I get 5-7 hours if I'm on data (5g). I can get 12 hours if I'm on WiFi, the modem is so bad on pixel. I use a Galaxy A54 and the battery life was so much better.
I love my Pixel 8 Pro, but it is a little buggy at times. My problem with the team over at Google is they miss out by not incorporating just a little “keep it simple stupid” mentality with some of the issues they have with the phone. i.e. chipset, battery life, etc. Quit trying to reinvent the wheel. Put the best snapdragon chip in your phone. I will get the Pixel 9, especially if they come out with a smaller size. (Two sizes) But overall I am happy with the Pixel 8 pro, especially at $750. 🎉
I get what people are saying about the power but here are some reasons why a more powerful soc actually is important: - Opening and loading in apps is faster, this is obviously nice but also decreases the Time-To-Idle time, meaning the soc can get back to a power saving state faster - photos are quicker to take. Ever notice how iPhones can just tap the camera button and always take a photo instantly? And they can keep tapping to instantly take more photos. Pixels often struggle here outside of perfect lighting conditions. - more advanced photo processing is possible - more advanced AI is theoretically possible - apps can have more advanced graphics and animations - if the SoC achieves greater power output for the same energy usage, it will use less power and have better battery life
😂fun fact, most people don't care that much about benchmarks,as long as the phone runs anything we throw at it and has good cameras were happy as a clam😊
I totally agree with you about pretty much everything! But🤔The one very important thing to many that you neglect to mention, is that the Pixel 8 pro has a cheaper Price Tag to the flagships you are comparing to! And because of those savings, myself & most likely many others do not mind those small compromises.👍😉🇨🇦
Been testing this phone for about two weeks now. Great phone overall. Amazing screen and camera. But lag and apps crashing constantly is a NOPE. Plus the battery life and slow charging 🙄
I bought a Google pixel 8 couple of weeks ago with 2-3 weeks. I observed that there is a scratch below the display panel. However, the phone is not been dropped anytime or there is no physical damage or mishanding. I was surprised to see this scratch when I took it for the service center to get it checked and the worst service center in India - Bangalore which they denied saying that it's physically damaged. Surprisingly, how can someone go below the display and damage it and it's not a crack? It's a scratch which is visible only when the displays off and viewed from a particular angle. I tried explaining them and even to the Google support team which do not have physical access to the phone, they were just sticking to physically damage term, Surprisingly they are also depended on the local third party vendor who has taken the Google phone service, I am totally disappointed
Custom ROM for me, and honestly while tensor may not be as good on paper in daily use I have not been able to notice its lack of power compared to apple or Samsung
One of the worst charging speeds plus a battery backup phone always feels warm in hand I don't know what happened but the camera doesn't have that pixel feel anymore
It’s unfortunate every time you open the phone you have to stare at that low benchmark number when using it 😂 Anyways…I have the 7 pro and the battery lasts me a day in a half with moderate use and I normally get 6.5-7 SOT. I’d say that matches the other flagships
Benchmarks mean absolutely nothing. I used had a P7P and traded it for an S24 regular. I don't notice any difference in processing speed. If anything the P7P was snappier because of the 12gb of ram
Absolutely agree.I'm in the market for a new phone. Was looking at the pixel 8 for the good the camera, but he bad SOT and slow charge time is a real no go for me
I bought the phone and had to return it 7 days later, because it kept freezing, the camera lagged, you’d be watching a video and try and pause it none of the keys would work. The battery absolutely drains in like 10 min when you hotspot with it, and the back of the phone is made of cheap material and scratches easily
Yeah thats true. My pixel 6 pro was at use quite few years and i droped it few days ago (rip matrix, fuck curve screen). Camera is op of course, but the productivity is kinda underwhelming. Still good to use but i expected much less small bugs, inconveniences and all that stuff from google. Fingerprint speed is a flaw too. Ill wait for pixel 9 to release anyway but am heavily considering xiaomi 14 rn. It has all that good stuff in terms of hardware, not that expensive and camera seems to be decent too
Typing this from my Google Pixel 8 Pro. I hated my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra. I get too many useful features on the Pixel to settle for the other two.
I have the pixel 8 pro, Samsung 24 ultra and the iPhone 15 pro max. And I ended up using the pixel 8 pro, I find it a fun phone to use and don’t really notice that much off a difference between the three, except the s24ultra eats battery life fast
Hows about why do you need chrome cast to screen mirror. Even tho it has the same option of samsung. But samsung phone with out signal or wifi will screen pair no problem. But pixel wont. Sort it google
I just cannot agree with this. The battery life and charging speed are not bad, and actually they're much better than "decent". They just aren't elite. The processor and benchmarking gripe is just nonsense to me. Actual usage is the only meaningful metric here. Every smartphone out there occasionally has bugs. No one wants them, but there is no non-bug option.
It’s crazy especially with widgets Google had a 10 year lead on Apple with widgets and Apple still came in. Did it better? Android should’ve had active widgets a long time ago
Its not a gaming phone chill. Its a smart phone and google has emphasized that this phone is for efficiency rather than speed. I have the pixel 8 and have had zero issues and honestly its the best ive seen from google in a while
This phone does well for being cheap for sure, pixel 10 is confirmed to be on schedule for their first in house made tensor google chip This will truly be their make or break moment as to whether or not they can truly compete against samsung on benchmarks, software, and hardware usage Quick edit: the reason the current tensor chips may not be as efficient as google wants to promise or hope for is because it's actually a samsung chip, google does not have a way to make their own chips yet
Whoever still talks about benchmark numbers should just stop having a opinion on phones. Even middleclass processors have enough performance for nearly everything nowadays. No one cares about benchmarks anymore. Real life performance is what matters.
What about the price of all those flagship phones. You're talking too much pixel 8pro is one of the best phone right now considering the price and all that it offers
You topped doing benchmarks and that's a non-issue at all for me. The phone animations are fluid. It doesn't feel slow. It takes incredible photos. The UI is great. What? I don't like about the pixel and what I can't believe you didn't touch on is the heating issue and the battery due to the crappy chip they're using with Samsung. The pixel won't be a true flagship in terms of Chip battery, heat management, etc. Until they get away from partnering with exynos for the tensor
HOT, SUPERHOT device, even when just Google or scrolling through pictures on Google photos. Taking videos is superhot activity. Mine goes up than 40 celsius. I love everything else about the phone, but this od real shame for Google. I ako going to give iz back 😢
They're cheaper then ghe other flagshops mentioned. And the pixel 8 pro.can be found new with 256gb for $800+ tax already. Its a great phone for what It Is. And this Is coming from an s23 ultra user
And this is why I'm not going to cry about being a sucker for buying a pixel 8 pro..I only paid $399.00 and got a free year of cell service. But it's not worth $1,000🤪👈
Who cares about the benchmark, a benchmark does NOT indicate the experience and most people will never find it a noticeable issue. The only drawback is gaming. The battery isn't as bad as you seem to claim it is, I find mine easily lasts a day and a half if it needs to. Finally, the charging isn't that fast sure but you mention the competition and completely ignore that its still faster than Apple's and also has the fastest wireless charging out of most phones along with reverse wireless charging. The only valid point is the occasional instability in software. Pretty horrible commentary from XDA of all people
I have Pixel 8 Pro, 15 Pro Max and S 24 Ultra. I can say Pixel 8 Pro is amazing....even at some moments beat so good 15 pro Max. Pixel 8 Pro is very good phone. S24 Ultra is last on lost
My country price s24u base model 1500 dollars iphone 1400-1600 dollars pixel 8 pro 800-1000 dollars just going to say around 500-800 dollar difference and the chip is good enough to do every thing. Your basically crying about a thing that is none existent. 500-800 dollars for what a faster chip and 1 h of extra battery and less software features and worse camera in some cases. FACTS BUDDY FACTS
Benchmarks are pointless. Google is building up its chips where it matters, in the nueral engine cores rather than CPU and GPU cores. Thats why they're not number one in performance. Who cares! No one is using their phone like that anyways. One day were gonna wake up and realize Google was smart by doing this early. What do you think literally every tech company is racing to build up in their products this year? Nueral cores!
From my personal point of view, I'm not trying to defend Google, but before judging the p8pro, I'd like all the other competitors to be equipped with AI that works in real time by being omnipresent throughout the phone, discreetly like pixels, and not like Samsung's s24, which only works partially when you press a key, and then we'll see how the competition really behaves, especially as tensor is more focused on an NPU for artificial intelligence processing. Do you know how resource-intensive real-time AI is? They know what they're doing, and it's clear that they're only going to get better.
