I loved your video which someone shared on the Reddit Lurchers page. Bertie is a lovely dog and has a similar build to my girl. I'm in the USA and have what I think is a Border Collie/Whippet or Greyhound. She's pretty lazy but when she runs it's the most amazing thing to watch. I compare it to a leaping deer, she soars over bushes, dog houses and my German Shepherd without a care in the world. From standing still she jumps higher than me like she's on springs. She also zigs and zags so fast and when the other dog is chasing her, she runs straight at me and veers off at the last minute and he can't stop and crashes into me at full speed. I swear she's laughing every time she does it as he's getting yelled at. She also mouths the shepherd when they're running together, he's scared of her so he never fights back and he doesn't seem to care. She's a rescue so I don't know the history but she's extremely sensitive and nervous, hates loud noises or fireworks and if I even raise my voice a little at her she hits the ground in terror, I think she had a bad experience with her previous owners. She's no fan of leaving the house either, I have to forcibly carry her to the car when we go the park and she loves it once she's there but getting her to that point is a nightmare and she's very happy to jump in the car when it's time to go home again. www.reddit.com/r/Lurchers/

so nice to hear you talk about Bertie and lurchers in genneral. Made me smile :) I adopted several sight hounds in the last 30 years, and my first lurcher last november (1,5 years old from ireland greyhound Collie mix ) , he was realy a handfull the first few months, but now he is all you describe love him dearly and i regonize all you are telling about lurchers.
Lurchers are pretty wonderful. I have a large boy here in Australia. He looks like an extra large greyhound. White and brindle.he's watching this with me right now.
Very informational video. I just found out I have a lurcher. I am fostering her for now but am planning to adopt her as soon as I can. I expected to get a 20lb or less dog like a chihuahua because I have a small apartment. However I got her a nearly 40lb dog now and exactly what I wanted but didn't think an apartment was suitable for. I grew up with hunting dogs and found they needed more space than my family had as a kid. She was also found roaming a field and they suspect someone abandoned them there. Everything you say in this video describes her perfectly. She just loves to cuddle and nap. The dog park is the highlight of her day. She loves the car and is so good you forget she is there sometimes. I cannot believe how unbelievably good this dog is and cont comprehend why someone would abandon it.
Absolutely lovely video, and for me very pleasing since I adopted a luncher from an American rescue agency 3 years ago. We think (without evidence beyond RU-vid videos like this one) that our Memphis could be a greyhound/terrier mix. We adopted him when he was two, having no idea nor care as to his breed identity until the remarkable features of his nature naturally compelled us to ask, who is this wonderful creature? Beautiful Bertie! We just got our first Lurcher pup in February. She is currently 4 months old. What a lovely dog she is already! She is Greyhound, Wolfhound, Whippet and (?). I already knew I loved greyhounds, but now I love Lurchers too :)
