Jeremy Clarksons line about Maserati “it’s like owning a 2 year old child- it’s really annoying most of the time but if anyone tried to take it away from you you’d kill them” is by far the truest statement ever made about Maserati V8 ownership
@@mihailhidler5400 The F136 engine, commonly known as Ferrari-Maserati engine, is a family of 90° V8 petrol engines jointly developed by Ferrari and Maserati in 2001. The Ferrari configuration is a 180° flat-plane crankshaft. The Maserati is a 90° cross-plane crankshaft. The flat-plane Ferrari is obvious built and designed more for speed than the Maserati engine.
Beautiful car! I feel ya about the automatic trans, having the paddles allows you to interact, but when you want to just cruise along, it shifts for you. Best of both worlds in my opinion.
Eyyy, I live around there. Vernon Hills! My pops also went to NU funnily enough. I haven’t checked on your channel in ages but am blown away by how much it’s grown. I was here in the beginning but then stopped watching RU-vid for a while. A couple of my buddies and I used to watch your videos back in the day. Can’t believe time passed like that. Now I’m gettin ready to go to college and stuff. Definitely gonna be tuning into the channel more often now
Honestly I can see these Maserati Grand Turismos actually going up in value significantly over the next few years. Values may be down now but I can definitely see them rebounding
@@petervonpandain the future collectors will want an old school Italian V8 engine that sings. Especially when the only other option is an electric car.
I also own a GranTurmiso Sport. Enjoyed the review. Check out our Bespoke Removable Front License Plate Action Camera Mount for the Maserati GranTurmiso, No Drilling! QR502.
I wanted one bad...then saw your comments about inclement rainy weather. Living near Seattle on a windy hilly road...you stopped me from any more lust for this car..Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This car is a Masterpiece 🔱, lot of people are gone wish they bought one and kept it for a long period of time, this Masterpiece is gone be one of a kind collectable classic pretty soon.
@@petervonpanda absolutely, 454 HP , V8 and Italian. Doesn't get much better then that for around 38k. I'm hoping to find one in like 6 months. Appreciate the video.
Mate i am just about to buy a 2009 GTS with low mileage, even though your car is a bit later you gave me some good tips....Thanks a lot cheers. BTW, I live in a city with many sports cars but there is no other car out there with the pure roar of this Maserati.
Hi from Western Australia. I am moving away from e92 M3 and want to go back to my Italian roots. Looking at a 4200 GT or a quatroporto 2008 ZF 6 speed. Or do I spend more and go to 2008 like you current ride. But 4.2 lt with ZF box. Appreciate your advice.
Did you know that Maseratis are one of the most often ticketed vehicles, Along with Alfa Romeos, VW Golf GTI, DODGE RAM and the Subaru WRX? Yep. I never got a ticket in mine, but my Fiat 500 Abarth? Yes.
The F1 is great, I have it in my Ferrari and love it. Wish more of these GTs had them, apparently it's only like 1 model year in America. In Europe the MC Stradale still had it as an option. Their MC Stradale is better than ours. 😣
@@petervonpanda I recently did a paint correction on mine then added a ceramic coating...came out great given it was my first time. I have black with red interior. But I LOVE your blue GT!!
feel like their dated technology is done on purpose so years from now it gives the illusion they been around even though their gaps between their new models
Love this video! I'm thinking about getting one, but worried about service and maintenance costs. How much would you say is an average oil change, brake change, and overall reliability?
The oil change is not cheap. I went to the dealership for the last service and it was $500. I'm sure you can find a cheaper place, and I've seen guys online do it themselves for under $200. I don't put a ton of miles on it.... only about 1000 miles/year at the moment, but will probably drive it more next year. So far though, it's been a champ!
Is it a car worth to have in 2023? I am quite confused, I own a 2012 mas GT (granturismo) of course wiht the f1 engine, however do newer Granturismo have ferrari engines? Is the mc stradale a better option than a gt now adays?
I have an alfa and that too has the sticky plastics. Seems to affect all fiat group cars. I am at the moment looking at maserati in the uk but im torn on which to go for its close but no1 is gransport for me followed by granturismo. Im thinking gransport being lighter would be more sporty. Also here gransports are starting to increase in value unlike granturismos. Love the exhaust sound of the 4.2-4.7 v8 maser, better than a lambo. Which is the better drivers car?
Affects all European cars because they are ALL made by the same Company. Porsche/ BMW/Audis are notorious for this...especially when they experience American sunshine.
The only thing I really (really) don’t like about your car is the black around the back, it looks like there’s a load of tape around the lights. EDIT 25:05
Hey Peter I saw your gransport video and granturismo video. I’m thinking of getting a granturismo with the cambiacorsa f1 transmission. Which do you recommend the automatic or f1 since you’ve driven both transmissions.
a poor mans Ferrari California, i like the blue however the dark red interior would be my choice and not the bright red. tan also looks incredible too. dark tan.
Hey peter, do you hear rattle sound at idle after you start car?And goes away after you drive off?I have 2016 I just wonder if it happens all GT. I really didnt care for years but my warranty ending next year so just asking if i should take it to dealer for it. This is my one of 3 maseratis I had started since 2014. ghibli sq4, 2016 GT sport, 2018 quattroporte glan lusso(totaled), just love maserati sound, GT has best sound of all.
I'd have to check, but it's possible. I feel like a rattle on start might be the cam variators. I'm not sure if this model had an issue with them, but I know the Gransports had that issue.
I see that you are in Illinois. I am in Chicagoland as well. How does the GT do in snowy weather here in Chicago? Is it dangerous to drive here during snow days?
I'm sure it is. I've never driven it in snow, but I have driven it in rain, and it sucks in rain. The back end fishtails all the time when the ground is wet. Taking turns with it in rain is hairy... like using those long off-ramps the car is squirrelly when wet.
Great question. There’s a lot different. The gransport skews more hard core sports car and this is more of a comfortable cruiser. It’s also much longer, maybe a foot. I think the gransport is more of an enthusiast drivers car and this is more comfort focused. Both are great. I wish I also had the gransport still.
Yeah, nice video on the gransport. I also own one. I was surprised you sold it as it seemed like you didn’t have it for long. Afraid to sell mine cause I think it’ll be one I’d miss too much !
This all sounds good , but it may look the business, and stunning performance, but not safe and confident to drive, as a Mercedes CLS 63, or s 63. There is a big difference with the Germans
Great honest indepth ocd picky as hell review 👍. While Maserati, Aston Martin & Jaguar may look similar, build quality is night & day different. Cars built in Britland may be luxurious but they are utter 💩 4 drive train. Britland brands including Range Rover need engine or transmission replacement frequently during the life of ownership. Ferrari engines are race breed & meant to be driven hard with passion & authority. No stinking Aston, Jag or Rover winning F1.
And suddenly, at 17:46 mark, you have proven why your channel shouldn't be taken seriously for any reviews outside of family cars and minivans. A flat pedal design is intended for sporty driving .. heel toe "shifting". While this is an autotragic it does allow for you to apply a small amount of break pressure while accellerating though a turn. This puts a small amount of clamping force on the front brakes to allow for a small amount of gravitational shift.. thay shift in weight helps you steer the car around the turn quicker and as you release the brake and apply more pressure to the gas the weight shifts to the rear wheels, helping you to laungh out of a turn even faster. Calling an automatic with a padle shifter the best of both worlds also adds to the insantity thay someone would take you seriously. I hate all autoshifting cars, but of you want the best if both worlds it would be a dual clutch automatic transmission. These are a comouter, automagically shifted manual. Anything else is just a slush bix thay belongs in a luxury car or minivan.
You're right, Simon. I noticed that too after I shot it. It's because of my old camera, which I replaced after doing this video. Stinks that I filmed for 10 minutes not knowing how fuzzy everything looked.
well the taxable rate for registration will make you pay about $600 a year and your insurance will be higher and you have to use premium gas and oh by the way 12mpg so gas every other day? Also the tires last 10,000 miles apparently. The public bus is the cheapest daily driver I use.
Beautiful beautiful car the problem is when you sit in these cars it feels like you're in the 1980s all the buttons are cheap plastic sticky and broken doesn't even have a backup camera doesn't even have Bluetooth doesn't have a heads up display doesn't even have a sunroof and the list goes on and on not to mention it's so slow. You're better off buying a Jaguar xfr the same year or more with 510 horsepower and all the luxury features that will blow you away drive both of them and I guarantee you pick the xfr
