In my opinion last year was better. But probably because there had been more new, innovative products than this year. Most exhibition stand have been smaller, Logitech and Gomez haven´t been there. Fanatec was disappointing. Especially this ridcoulous gyro movement in the Bentley wheel. MHO.
Got mixed feelings to be honest. On the positive side it's been possible to see a lot of gear in real life for the first time and beeing able to compare stuff side by side. On the negative side for me the Expo been suffering of their own success as Saturday been too crowded. Already at 11am long queues everywhere. And most of the boots been too occupied to properly talk to the exhibitors. Closing the gates at 6pm already didn't really pay into spreading the visitors evenly across the day. But eventually I where able to test the equipment I've been eyeballing with on Sunday and got a really nice conversation with one of the students building the Student Champion ship racer located at the Asetek booth. By the way, the supplier to Sabelt developing the haptic feedback seat, "SenseIt!" also had a small booth down the aisle. They told me the seat may be offered by Sabelt somewhere in the area around 1200€.
The breakfast at the hotel and us all bundled up at that round table was the best part. Talking about anything and everything. Not that the other parts were bad, mind you. And the very special guests we had on our Podcast (which comes out tomorrow) were the best. Wonder if you know any of them...
Can confirm I am indeed pixelated, it’s very hard to see and that’s why I messed up our handshake like 50 times. Great to meet you, see you next year for sure :)
I also loved the P1 Mistral! I come from a T300 brake, so most of the loadcells at the expo felt like a total brick wall, I had no idea how much pressure I put in. But the P1's haptic motor game me a great feedback. Looked online and there's no proper review on them yet, would be great to see some experienced loadcell user looking into them soon. By the way, I went on Sunday and it was not half as packed as in the video. I tested more than 15 rigs with many different wheelbases and pedals and had almost no waiting time, always under 10 mins. You should come on Sundays lmao
Fanatec stole the show when I was there it was all people were talking about. But the true haters who dont even support fanatec dont want to believe it. Trying to act like fanatec wheelbases just arent good yet the dd pro is the best 5 to 10nm wheelbase on the market except for the simagic but even those side by side are pretty much identical in feel and here we sre with a massive uplift in detail and strength with the dd/dd+ and its just next level good. Asetek and simucube level for sure. I suggest to get the dd+ guys its like the dd pro when you get the 8 it wss made for 8 and you can tell. Same thing for the dd and dd+ something anout the dd+ just feels bettter and its not even just the strength its the solid grip feel when cornering and even slightly finer details just a little more but its there. I think both are fantastic but I truely believe the fanatec dd+ is a massive game changer and when full force comes out idk what will actually be able to compete with it tbh.
I actually got to try one of the BavarianSimTec rigs, the steeringwheel felt great, and the rig was suprisingly comfortable for its size, even for me, being 1,92m. The Asetek invicta kit they had was also probably the best kit I ever tested, though the Simagic P2000 on the left rig at the Rennwelten booth might be better, depending on setup. It was a great experience for me, first time testing real high end stuff, first time on loadcell and hydraulic brakes, first time in motion rigs (though the Actoracer and Novus I tested did not impress me all that much, the one from the booth with the pneumatic cushions was way better, even if it didnt have the cushions). I'll definitely be going again next year, definitely on a Friday again.
Thanks for info on new sim racing products! One suggestion though - when doing this sort of video keep camera static or do very slow pans, so much rapid movement makes it’s more difficult to watch and follow what you are talking about
I forgot about the event until it was too late so I went ahead and treated myself to an upgrade. G29 to CSL DD :) Bad time to buy though as Fanatec are having trouble with shipping at the moment.
The Clubsport DD feels better than the Podium DD2? Now... you have to tell me a little more about that because that just smells marketing BS. Also are you comparing it with the Podium DD2 with QR1 or QR2?
The Bavarian SIM wheel felt great but the wheelbase and the brakes were horrible setup, it had like no force feedback and you really had to smash the brakes (I know they only sell the wheel but still). All the buttons felt great and had a lot of feedback(you felt it when you pressed the button)
The consoles needs some more attention from the big players in my opinion. Logitech brought out the pro wheel and pedal and nothing since. Where are the new rims? Pro shifter? Maybe a Handbrake?
Would be nice to have titles underneath telling us which brand is being shown etc for each shot. We weren’t there so it’s just stuff for us without the information .
Well, Like I said in the vid, I lost a lot of time because of ATC strike and Friday would be great to have a look. Im not going to every booth to stay in lines as time is limited and I need to rationalise the use. Maybe next year, maybe not.
Yay there’s competition between competitors… in every way but the only one that matters… price. For what it would take to buy a really good rig you could buy a rl vette… & that’s just bs.
A tip for the camera man: Hold it steady when you want to show something (which I assume is most of the time) and only move it when necessary in between. The constant movement is really disturbing to watch.
Wow I wish I could be there. Right now in Israel we have a war so I can’t fly to the expo but maybe next year! Also what are your favorite pedals for around 600 euros?
Man all these competing brands and uostart new companies giving the likes of fanatec and simucube stiff competition and at reasonable prices is e best things that coulda happened to sim racing gone are the days of paying over 1'000 US dollars for a basic direct drive base i literally just got my first DD a Moza R5 and have upgraded everything from that bundle except the base with a CS wheel CRP pedals a hgp shifter and hbp handbrake and a next level racing ws 2.0 its a absolute game changer when coming from a G29 and shifter like i did my question is how much better than this can it truly get i feel if i go up the ladder much more ill be well past the piint of diminishing returns my last upgrade will be a Moza R12 and ill be done for a very very long time amd give my son the R5 bundle
